I think I remember that show from its original broadcast. CBS ran it at 3 PM here in the east (which is irrelevent since I was home from school for summer vacation anyway).

Ccook, you wouldn't happen to remember what day it was, would you?  I bet Steve would love to know.

Yes, he would.   At the very least, do you know whether it aired in August or September?

Mid-August, as I recall. We were just a couple of weeks past from a family vacation trip and two weeks away from the first day of school (11th grade for me). As to what day of the week it was, I couldn't say.

That's very interesting.  Do you happen to remember seeing the debuts of Temptation of Mystery Price?  They were both taped around the same time as Lucky Seven.

Couldn't say for sure. It wasn't in summer, and when school started, dismissal was at 3 PM, so I was lucky to get home in time to see the Showcase. Danger Price I couldn't say as well.

Wow, indeed for Linda — 2 new cars! $6,000 in prizes was quite a hall in 1973.

Anyhow, a few questions on the prizes, namely what in the world are a cellerette (the one-bid item) and a phone valet (in the Bonus Game)?

I presume the submarine was similar to those we saw on the 1956-era TPiR.

Also, what cheap prizes in Most Expensive. Exactly $699 for the three prizes put together, and add to that the $400 refrigerator won in the one-bid immediately before that, and there was no way poor Susan could get into the Showcase (since the other two contestants won their pricing games and their winnings were more than what her potential winnings could be). Remember, this was before the Big Wheel became part of the show, so it couldn't happen today.

The Cellerete's like a wine cabinet. I have no idea what a Phone Valet is. I think it's an answering machine.

Say, that submarine clip shown on GSM's TPiR wouldn't happen to be from this episode, would it?

Right, and contestants often got locked out by the first two players.  Also, I have a 12/74 episode with 3 ME prizes totaling $701, and the IUFB was only $308.

ARP $3921
Diff $1221

Linda bid $2400
ARP $3837
Diff $1437

Linda wins with a total of $5839. Wow!

How does a difference of $1437 beat a difference of $1221?

Yeah, I thought the names and the bids and all looked kinda familiar.  (And maybe I should pay an overdue visit to the gallery  :-) .)
