Card Game rules...

In Card Game, when you draw an Ace, you can make it "anything you wish", according to Bob. But the official rules say that the Ace can't be made a negative value.

Who here thinks that the rules should be changed so that Aces can be negative?

Not that the rule change would make much of a difference thanks to "Range Game Syndrome"!

The problem with this is that it would encourage people to just keep drawing and drawing and drawing and drawing until they got an Ace--possibly up to 49 draws!.  By not allowing it to be negative, contestants have to think after each drawing instead of simply playing until the Ace appears.

But then, you could just keep drawing forever until you drew the ace, then make your bid whatever you wanted, making the card drawing completely pointless.  Then again, it doesn't matter as much with larger-ranged cards in the special deck to be as precise, anyway, but still, if a contestant who knew what he was doing drew that $1000 card....

...then again, why bother?  Most normal contestants wouldn't bother doing that anyway.

And don't worry about the poll, Alex.  I can promise that almost everyone here would have voted that the ace should not be allowed to be a negative value.

There is a member of BigJon's forum who has joked around for years that he would love to keep drawing cards, run up an insane bid, then use the ace for a negative amount... While I giggle at this idea, in theory it would not be funny... Bob would be annoyed, the audience would be annoyed, and it'd certainly result in the rest of the show going into hurry-up mode.

So, no, I'll pass on that rule change. Some things are better left "un-fixed"...
