Play Along Forum -- Rules & Regs
« on: June 19, 2006, 09:20:49 AM »
As taken from the old Play Along Forum...please remember that we must encourage "post balance", and that the intent of this site is to promote discussion on the real life TPIR.  Please keep both sets of Rule #2 in mind (along with the others) when posting in this area.

MG

FOR HOSTS

1: Only mock episodes of The Price is Right allowed. No other gameshows, or made-up games, even those related to The Price is Right.

2: In order to host a full show, you must be an active member in other Price is Right related areas of the site. Generally speaking, this means that at least 20% (at least one out of every five) of your posts should be outside of the Host Your Own section.

3: You may not start a second full show thread until your current one is finished.

4: You should give at least 24 hours to allow people to sign up for your show from when you first create the thread. Also, you must wait for at least 9 people to sign up for your show, unless you're doing a half-hour format, in which case, at least 6 signups are needed.

5: You should update the subject line of your thread as your episode goes along, to reflect the portion of the game you are currently playing. This will make it easy to allow players to know when they should be ready to make their bids in contestants' row, or in the showcases, or if the current pricing game they're not involved in is just dragging on.

6: At the start of each full show, you should post a time limit for how long contestants have to make their bids in contestants' row, or to make guesses in their pricing games, and so forth. It should be at least 24 hours. Penalties for not posting within the time limit may be given as seen fit by the host of the show.

7: If a player is needed at a time that the player would not expect to be needed, such as if a player replaces another player in a pricing game on stage, the player should be notified via PM.

8: If you are new, and are unsure of how well you can pull off a full show in our forums, feel free to attempt a half-hour format show, with only three pricing games, and no showcase showdown, with the top two winners competing in the showcase.

9: Use of retired games, made-up games, or old rules from current games are fine, but the overall show should still feel like The Price is Right, and not something completely different.

10: You should attend to your thread regularly, preferably daily. Let contestants know if you won't be around to attend the thread on weekends, or if an emergency situation arises, and may be away for a few days. If you are having computer problems, let us know when you can get to that.

11: Shows should not be "quit" except for an emergency. Abandoning one of your shows may prevent you from being allowed to start another one.

FOR CONTESTANTS

1: You may sign up for as many shows as you can keep track of; be careful not to overwhelm yourself with so many that you can't remember what you are doing in whose show.

2: In order to participate in a full show, you must be an active member in other Price is Right related areas of the site. Generally speaking, this means that at least 20% (at least one out of every five) of your posts should be outside of the Host Your Own section.

3: If your time limit to do something has passed, but neither the host has officially buzzed you yet, and if in contestants' row, the next contestant hasn't bid yet, then just make your post without penelty.

4: If you know you'll be away for a few days, alert the host for any game you're actively a part of, or that you've signed up for, so they can handle the situation without thinking you're just avoiding their show.
