I know that someone already did this one (maybe on the 2003-2006 board) but you did throw in some nice details.  ;-)

I was looking for this particular recap since this episode is on YouTube, and I couldn't even find it in the archives.  It seems that all the archives are not linked yet. I decided to post it anyway.

I'm not sure when in the tape dates it changed from earth-tone to rainbow tone.

People were wondering what the games looked like, so I added in the information for Grocery Game and Any Number.  One Right Price is the green podiums (which I think were painted brown before).  Since most of the cues are on J-Shea's site, I figured I'd add that info too.

Heidi, all the threads since the relaunch in May '06 are still active.

Yes, but that color scheme never appeared in 1 Right Price.

I finally found the recap, mind you the description is not very detailed like mine is.  They didn't list which lady modeled what.

Unless she was talking about Double Double Prices.

If the tape dates were normal, I'd guess it'd probably changed just a couple of days earlier.  But the multicolor curtains are in place...

Steve, do you know if by chance some of the daytime shows with the new set taped before this show?

Old Price, that's exactly what I was talking about.  Remember, Double Prices and One Right Price shared two sets of podiums, the podiums here had the ? on them.  So when did they paint the DP/DDP/1RP podiums green?  Was it before the green scheme of 1975?

I don't see why they couldn't have.

As far as I know, they changed when the rest of the set did.

Sorry, once I read your answer, I realized that I didn't clarify enough, so I'll give it another try: does it seem possible to you that they taped as many as 10 or more daytime shows before 8/11/75?  (Remember, the 8/29/75 show, show #9 with the new set, had the old curtains.  Also, if it's worth anything, the first trial show for 9/8/75 was taped 9 days earlier, on August 30.)

Well, I'd bet that they changed them both when the set changed, although I suppose it's possible that they just changed one and waited until 1RP appeared to change the other.

If DP/1RP (or any games, for that matter) didn't change colors at the time of the set change, I'd be inclined to think they changed before it happened.  They'd already changed the turntable and the base of the Any Number board to green (although the side of the board didn't change til after).

Steve, I know you pretty much said it, but I want to make sure.  Is it possible that 1 Right Price could've been played on the James version with the brown set?  I'm not sure if made your statement because of info from the daytime playings, or if you got that from the nighttime records.

Only if Season 4's nighttime shows started taping before the set change...which is possible, I suppose, given that the first show was #118N.

Hmmm...you know what, I bet this wasn't the first week of taping with the new set.  I'd think it's more likely that the set was repainted earlier.  If the set was changed earlier, the old curtains could've still been there, and that could be when those daytime shows up til September come from.  That'd also allow more time to tape the nighttime shows.

That was a beautiful episode.  For as long as I live, I will always call that the WTVD-11/WCTI-12 episode, among other things.  Those were two of the stations that aired this awesome version!  I could describe it as a WGHP-8 episode too. :P

WGHP was our ABC (became FOX in 1993) affiliate.  Fred Blackman & Frank Deal were the news anchor, and weatherman (respectively), for a really long time.  My kudos goes out to Mike Klauss who posted the episode online a while back.  I converted the downloaded episode from AVI to a higher-quality QuickTime format.

Going OT a bit, Castrol celebrated its 75th anniversary on March 9, 1974.  I was born exactly one week after that (on March 16th).  I always loved to see Castrol GTX plugs on 1970's game shows.
