Master Key is one of my favorites - a pretty good set, decent gameplay, and the giant oversized $600 keys. A couple of criticisms include not revealing the prices of the major prizes and the fact that the suspense of winning the car can be blown by getting the keys that open nothing and the key that opens the middle prize.
Still, one of my favorite games as a kid, and it also won me the 2004 Goodson Cup.
Overall: 9/10.

Master Key is basically a reworking of Super Ball in which skill is replaced with luck. If you don't quite see this, then imagine that Master Key was accidentally left out in the rain (ala Penny Ante). To "replace" Master Key, they dig the Super Ball game out from Bob Boden's garage. Balls 1, 2, and 3, the Super Ball, and the practice ball (which wins nothing) are placed into a bag and the contestant gets to pick 1 or 2 of these balls at random (they would earn these picks the same as they earn the keys). They then crawl up the Super Ball ramp/alley and drop their 1 or 2 balls right smack into the "WIN" circle; they win whatever prizes they had the corresponding balls to (nothing for the practice ball). And, voila, you've got Master Key!
This game is OK in my book, but not overly exciting, even if it is played for a car + 2 other prizes. It seems more often than not lately that contestants are winning only 1 key, and all too often it ends up being the "nothing" key. Still, the wins with master key are exciting when they do happen.
This game could be made a bit more exciting if the 2nd lock opened up a sum of cash, maybe $2000 or $2500 or something, or even a "fishbowl" with some oddball amount. Or perhaps an all cash Master Key, with amounts like $1000, $2500, and $10000 on the respective locks. Well, it was just a thought!
Was anyone else watching the day Bob kicked the key that was stuck in the lock and broke it in half? Somehow or other I was actually watching that day, and managed to catch it again in the clip shows.
An OK game that I give a 6/10 score.

The Super Ball!! analogy is
really
a stretch, but I like the "cash for the second lock" idea. I mean, heck, why not make the second prize a fishbowl of cash? Something around $2000 or so might fit nicely there.

This game is one of the most elegant games in the rotation, because the props look very proffesional. The gameplay is fair in my opinion. The only time the gameplay gets exciting is when one of the keys gets stuck, and Bob has to resort to karate chops to get the darn thing out. Personally, I would like to see cash amounts of $500 and $2,500 replace the two smaller bonus prizes. I only consider the game won when all 3 bonus prizes are won, although I am not too sure what is considered an official win.
Overall: 6.75 out of 10.

The set and props are very nice. One of the better car/small prize games in active rotation. It's good to see someone win the car, but better to see all three prizes won. Maybe more airtime is needed, but it's still a good game.
TOTAL SCORE: 9.5/10.
