Funniest ever quiz show answers

Yeah, the "Wheel of Fortune" slip-up mentioned earlier comes to my mind as well.

I think the puzzle looked something like this:

"A GR-U- -F --LL --SH-RS"  (If I got it wrong, let me know)

The contestant guesses "A GROUP OF PILL PUSHERS"!

Pat's response:  "This is WHEEL OF FORTUNE Joe!"

Here's one from Family Fortunes:

"Name a character from Alice in Wonderland."

Contestant said:

"The Tin Man."

The host commented:

"Yes, and Alice had a little dog named Toto."

One of the funnniest answers I've ever seen, one that deserves to be in one of those "Game Shows Gone Bananas" retrospectives, came on a special TV-themed episode of Greed (airdate: 3/3/00).

As cut-and-pasted from the Greed: The Series Fan Page, it went something like this:

Dennis [contestant] - for $25,000:  Which show did NOT feature Chuck Woolery as a regular host?

Is it...Love Connection, Scrabble, Wheel of Fortune, or Singled Out?

Dennis says Wheel of Fortune, Darrell [team captain] accepts it, and they're absolutely WRONG!!  Of COURSE it was Singled Out!

I love this moment because: 1) the question, about Chuck Woolery, 2) was read by Chuck Woolery, 3) to a contestant who prefaced his answer by saying he was a big fan of Chuck Woolery and had followed his career, and 4) because the answer was incorrect, the team was eliminated; since this was the first question, three of the team members didn't even have a chance to play (as per the rules of Greed).

Robby Roseman used the 50-50 to narrow it down to llamas and elephants, and he chose Llamas as his Final Answer.

WRONG!!!!!!! The answer was Elephants.

Match Game:
(Blank) Tennessee. The contestant, both nervous and stupid, picked "Mississippi."

Wheel of Fortune:
DONE WITH ONE HAND (Gone With The Wind)
And of course the stupidest guess in Wheel history, when that lady asked for an "S" in THE THRILL OF VICTORY AND THE AGONY OF DEFEAT, and cost her $62,400!!

And of course, Family Feud:
Q. Something associated with the show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire
A. Bob Barker

Q. First thing you take off after work
A. Your underwear
Richard later asked the contestant, "What time do you get off from work?"

Q. A state with good skiing
A. Florida

Q. A city in the state of Georgia
A. Alabama

To be fair, I don't think there's such a thing as a stupid contestant. It's just a case of nerves getting to you, and you tend to lose your mind or go blank up there.

Well there's certainly a lot of contestants who seem to see the funny side of it, no more so than on Family Fortunes (Feud).  It things went right all the time on a gameshow, I dread to think how boring the show would become.

I don't know about funniest EVER, but I've always thought the Wheel of Fortune bonus round from 1997ish where the puzzle was GUARDIAN and the contestant guessed things such as CARD-ON, WAR-DON, and incredibly, FART.  Pat quickly replied, "banana fanna bo-bart!" He also told her she did her best and did some exploratory solving after it was revealed that she lost a Camaro convertible.

That's not funny...that's extremely disappointing...at least in my opinion.

And that $64K Wheel blunder is kind of ironic given what the puzzle was. I'm not saying it's funny, but it's almost  fitting.

This was from Wheel of Fortune. During a toss-up, a person mis-solved AN ACT OF KIDNESS (I am not sure how much of the puzzle was actually lit up) as AN ACE OF KIDNEYS. I found the audio of it off of a website with stupid answers from various quiz shows. Also, on The Weakest Link, they asked something about the 1994 figure skating scandal, and the contestant guessed Monica Lewinsky. The correct answer was Tonya Harding.
