2nd MDS. February 7th 2003
« on: June 23, 2006, 04:38:52 PM »
Here is a recap of the 2nd MDS from 2003.

-----> IUFB #1

A computer desk from Broyhill plus a desktop computer with printer and 15-inch flat panel monitor (it's from Dell, but they don't want you to know that).

ARP of the bundle is $3,070. High bid of $2,500 gives it to Cameron.

-----> PG #1

It's a new Corvette! And it's not Golden Road! The Corvette comes with hundreds of options, as all Corvettes on this show do.

The game is 3 Strikes!! And the numbers are 0, 1, 4, 8, and 9. And, of course, one strike in the bag.

Cameron's first draw is a 1. He tries to remember the numbers, then says it's third. NO.

Next, he draws the 9. Is it second? YES.

There's the 0. Cameron says "absolutely five." And it is!

There's the 1 again. Let's try fourth. Of course!

Pretty easy at this point. But there's strike one.

There's the 8! And it's third!

All Cameron has to do is pull that 4, and he owns a $49,810 Corvette!

He pulls...

.
.
.

The 4!

There's your big start to the show!

-----> IUFB #2

"A fun new dirtbike" -- it's made by Honda and has a 157cc engine, 5-speeed transmission, and other stuff.

The ARP is $2,847. Newbie William quickly reaches the stage with his $2,400 bid.

-----> PG #2

William, you're going to play Plinko with a chance to win up to $100,000!

The $20,000 center slot is back.

First, a shower radio/CD player. The fake price is 90. He says 0, and the price is $60.

Next, a foot bath spa. With three attachments to soothe your feet. Choose from 89. William chooses 9. And the price is $49.

Third, an "endearing little remote-control robot." The display says 20. The choice is 0, the price is $40.

Finally, a water jet tooth cleaning device. There's 71. William chooses 7, and it's $74.

Five Plinko chips.

The first chip bounces over to $1,000.

The second chip hugs the center... $20,000!

The third chip zooms into the same $1,000.

The fourth chip hurries into the other $1,000.

The fifth chip... stops on the first peg. William pushes it off. And it lands in $1,000.

$24,000 is nothing to scoff at. I'm going to call it a win.

-----> IUFB #3

A 15-inch wide-screen LCD monitor with a DVD player. Crisp.

The bids range from $900 to $4500. But the ARP is $2,099, which goes nicely with Kristyn's $2,000 bid.

-----> PG #3

The game is Race Game.

The prices are:
$2,500
$3,046
$3,671
$4,066

The prizes are... four trips!

First, Northwest takes you to Cancun and the Omni Cancun Hotel and Villas.

Second, Southwest takes you to New Orleans.

Third, Northwest takes you to Maui and the Aston.

Finally, a trip to the Millennium Alaskan Hotel in Anchorage.

She places them $3,671 - $3,046 - $2,500 - $4,066.

And she has 0 right.

Back to make changes. She'll try $2,500 - $3,046 - $4,066 - $3,671. And time is up. Already.

Well, she's got two right. What did she win?

The right prices were $3,046 - $2,500 - $4,066 - $3,671.
She's going to Maui and Alaska.

But they're still trips, and Kristyn did a good job.

-----> SCSD #1

Bob explains the payouts.

Kristyn: 65 + STAY = 65
William: 30 + 30 = 60
Cameron: 80 + STAY = 80

Cameron had to think it over for a bit. Yeah, that whole million-dollar gimmick is really making a difference.

-----> IUFB #4

An 8-foot pool table from Murray. Accessories included.

CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG

Whoo! A perfect bid! And the bonus HAS increased!

$1,000 in cash goes to the contestant who bid $2,100 -- Stacy!

-----> PG #4

Stacy can win... a new Jeep!

The Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Again, tons of options.

And here's Push Over. The string of numbers is 328190237.

Stacy stops at $19,023. Maybe in the daytime...

The actual retail price is $28,190. That was mean.

-----> IUFB #5

His-and-hers skis, poles, and snowboards from Dynastar.

CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG

More money goes to the contestant that bid $2,759 -- Michelle!

Ted, I see you in the third row there.

-----> PG #5

Grand Game for $20,000!

The target price is a low $3.50.

The products:
French's Taste Toppers (family size)
Alka-Seltzer (36 tablets)
Aquafresh (8.2 oz.)
Glad (20-count gallon-size zipper bags)
SnoreStop (30 tablets)
Campbell's soup

The soup is $1.19. Up to $20.

The French's is $2.99. She's got $200.

The Aquafresh is $2.39. There's $2,000.

I would recommend she continue. And so does the audience.

Michelle takes the Glad. The price is...

.
.
.

$1.99! Big money for Michelle!

If you care, the Alka-Seltzer is $4.29 and the SnoreStop is $5.99.

-----> IUFB #6

A really big grill from Grill n Chill. It's a grill with a stereo in it. You can transport it on your trailer hitch. That's different.

ARP is $3,050. The $2,950 bid from Anthony finally gets him out.

-----> PG #6

Anthony avoid the FFBC and will be playing Double Prices for a ski boat! The 18-foot Regal 1800 LSR with matching trailer.

Double Prices gives him the choice of $25,450 or $22,699.

Anthony selects $22,699.

Anthony's won a nice boat!

Count this one as a 3 out of 6'er, with a half-win in Race Game and a good payout from Plinko.

-----> SCSD #2

Contestants not appearing on stage receive Croton's his-and-hers watches and two pieces of Ricardo luggage.

Here come the strategy spins!

Stacy: ONE DOLLAR!
Michelle: BOO + BOO + 5 + 10 = 15
Anthony: 35 + 90 = OVER

Here's the bonus spin... Stacy made exactly one revolution the first time...

Creepy music starts playing...

But she spins too hard and lands on 80.

-----> Those gorgeous Showcases

Top winner is Cameron. Runner-up is Stacy.

Showcase one: The TPiR cheerleaders get the audience to yell "U!" for a SeaLife underwater camera.

Next, they yell "S!" for a huge pile of his-and scuba gear from Oceanic.

Then a "V!" for a trip to the Virgin Islands -- a 6-night stay in a condo at Bluebeard's Castle.

And that unscrambles to "SUV!" The Eddie Bauer 4x2 Ford Expedition that, yes, is equipped with tons of options.

Cameron keeps it and bids $43,100.

Showcase two: Millions of reasons to celebrate. You can score millions of points on the Atari Centipede arcade game.

Enjoy millions of records in this Laser Star Saturn II jukebox.

There are millions of tiny bubbles in a hot tub from QCA Spas.

And maybe you can drive millions of miles in a new motorhome -- the 30-foot Sightseer from Winnebago. It contains many rooms.

Stacy bids $79,995.

-----> The results: Will someone break $100,000?

Cameron's bid is $43,100. The ARP is $53,293. Difference of $10,193.

Stacy bid $79,995 on her showcase. The ARP is $85,624. A difference of... $5,629!

Stacy has won $89724 in cash and prizes!

What the...okay.  Whatever.

Anyway, most evidence points to this actually being the first Million Dollar Spectacular, despite it being the second one aired.

EDIT:  Confirmed.  This was the first one taped.  Thanks Steve.
