Why would her mother let her do that?

Are you kidding?  I am pretty sure that mom not only knew, but that it may have been her idea.

Wow...there may have been some young person whose father really did die in Iraq (or overseas, for that matter) who didn't get the tickets because they gave them to this little girl instead.  They should take those tickets away and give them to someone else.

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

When I read the story, it was enough to make me sick.  Faking someone having died in Iraq was way over the line.

No doubt about it-- you are absolutely right on the bullseye in your assessment of the situation. Give them to someone who legitimately had a father die in Iraq, instead of someone who faked it.

Yeah, I agree this is awful, and the tickets need to be taken away, if for nothing else, just to send a message that lying about something like this is NOT the way to go about winning a contest. If GSN still made that abysmal "Anything To Win," this would make a good episode.

I did see something humorous in the contest description. The following is reason enough to not let my kids enter (if I had any):

Quote
The girl won a makeover that included a blonde Hannah Montana wig

:oldlol: Why do girls that age need a makeover anyway??? Is that the message that this show really wants to send to young impressionable youths??

That's another reason why if I had kids, especially what those brain surgeons at Disney call "consumer lifestyle", I would not allow them to even watch that dreck that passes as Disney Channel today.  I can understand High School Musical but the other crud that airs between noon and midnight is not my idea of Disney programing IMHO.

Kids in Disney's age target when I last checked do not have jobs, and are protected by child labor laws here in the USA.  Give me Disney Channel circa 1996, where everyone was represented.

Giving a fake story that a father died in Iraq is going too far.

That is an EXTREMELY horrible thing to do, just to get an unneeded makeover and tickets. The kid is 6 years-old, they should be having fun with their friends and not be worrying about their figure (Darn celebrity tabloids  :-P ).

Reminds me of a news segment I saw of a father giving away free tickets to a Hannah Montana concert because he couldn't go to it for some reason with his daughter. He ended up giving it to a well-deserving child, but there were a group of screaming fangirls, IN A LIMO, wanting them earlier. Needless to say, I'm glad he didn't give the tickets to them.

And they wonder what wrong with society today, when here's your perfect barometer right here, making the skewered point that physically (and probably artificially) attractive women are worth doing absolutely anything for no matter how fraudulent and spiteful.  I'd call for a major suit against them, then convince the Walt Disney Company to just terminate the whole franchise just to make absolutely sure it can't happen again (after all, since they tend to overreact to everything else, what not this too?).

One problem with that.

It's called money...and kids between eight and thirteen don't have it.  They don't have jobs, and have to beg to their parents to get the cash needed.

Must be? No, how about Is. Not worse, not worser, WORST. I have to do this, since Olbermann's on a break (news allowing) until Wendesday.

Priscilla Ceballos. Today's WORST....PERSON....IN THE WOOOOOOOORRRRRRRLLLLLLLDDDDDD!!!!

And yes, the organizers should take everything back posthaste.

all i can say is i hope i wont see this as a spin-off called  Extreme Fakeover: Clone Edition

if it does, i refrain from watching it.

in all seriousness, this is sick. i echo with everyone here that the tickets should be given back and presented to someone else.
