Make Your Move: Those zeroes can either make or break you. One of my original setups were the correct one. Yes, 7096 is a good price for a sofa, especially if is not in a Showcase.

Dice Game: Sure, going with the odds is good, but it still worries me a lot.

Freeze Frame: Thinking of a $4000 Alaskan Cruise in 1986 (PYL episode) made me think of 3167.

 What, a new phone number for tickets? I just got mine online on Friday. I think I have to remember the number just like how I remembered the mailing address.

Danger Price: Oh, come on. The processor and the guitar were the main ones I would've avoided until the end. With gumption, I would've picked the guitar over the processor.

Any Number: Okay, so 5, 0, 2, and the evil 9 were not the numbers for the car's last digit. My next choice would've been 4 and definitely not 6. Cue "Chump Change" sting or the Losing Horns.

Grocery Game: Maybe if the cookies had a bigger quantity...
Speaking of the cookies, I was lamoing at Drew's hand gestures, especially to the cookies. At least Kyle didn't do a wipeout on a single product. Oh, I groaned at the 21.04.

Showcases: When I saw a closeup of Gwendolyn (because I FFed it a little too much, I rewinded it back to the beginning of the segment), I was thinking of Miss Z's rapping Showcase; I was wishing we can have another model speak. I got my wish. I didn't know Gwen had an accent. Very, very good Showcase, until the WSD.

Hi everyone! First post.

I cannot believe that no one has yet noticed something extremely unusual about today's game.

Today's big winner James is apparently very good friends with Micheal from San Mateo, CA, who was the big winner on the show broadcast Friday, February 1st. James came onstage and gave Micheal a bear hug on Friday's telecast when Micheal won his showcase... and then Micheal returned the favor today when James won HIS showcase on today's broadcast! They're even wearing the same clothes on both broadcasts. And if you watch the audience during James's game shown today, you'll even see Micheal in the audience, cheering his friend on!

Very, very bizarre coincidence.

Make Your Move: Chalk up another player who really didn't have a clue on how to play this game. $70/$969/$4750, the right choice, was really the only one that looked right.

Dice Game: Terrible luck, tricky price.

Freeze Frame: $3167 seemed like the best guess, but $5012 was also logical.

Danger Price: Fairly easy set up, perhaps the bike/trike was the only tricky one, but the guitar was screaming to be picked.

Any Number: This was quite exciting, since once the game got down to the "This is it!"phase, it pretty much was a 1:3 crapshoot as to what was the last number in the price of the car.

Grocery Game: I can only wonder how Drew would have remarked at my desire of 38 packs of cookies for the win.

Showcase Bids:

(Well first of all, a TPIR News Showcase? A model speaking? A phone ticket plug? With a rotary phone graphic? Is this 1983?)

TPIR News - $19,000 (OVER)
Room/Car - $22,700 (-$7778...I guess I really did think it was 1983)

SHOW RATING: 3 Goodson-Todman Asterisks. A bit lackluster in the game selection department, but there were some fun little moments here and there.

This is not too unusual - I haven't looked at the tape dates, but I'm willing to bet these two shows were taped on the same day. Sad to say, the attendance for the show hasn't been that great lately, and if you attend the first taping, you can sometimes get into the second taping of the day; so expect to see some of the same crowds two days in a row.

A similar event happened last week too - a guy who was with his buddy for his birthday got called to contestants row, and then the next show, his buddy got called on down.

But you have to admit that it is a bit unusual that two friends win both of their showcases on two consecutive tapings. Drew Carey even acknowledged the coincidence when he said "Welcome back to the show, James" on today's telecast, because he'd just seen James on the previous taping when he came onstage to celebrate Micheal's big win.

See first line of Recap. It tells all. (That, and the airdates page on CBS.com)

Funniest moment for me today was Gwennie speaking and my wife going "wow. That's a bad accent she's faking". Ummmmmmmm. :) If you look up Gwennie, it usually says "British born". IIRC her background is West Indies somewhere. Hopefully they will do that again.

I loved Drew's modeling the groceries in Grocery Game!  And he was just getting sillier and sillier as he went on.  He was shaking the poor V8 like a madman :oldlol:!

I really didn't know how much the Ziploc baggies might be.  Personally, I was kinda' hoping they'd be less than $1.75.  I mean, it would still be a loss, but it would be a historic moment!  First time since 1966 that someone's lost by using up all the products without reaching $20.00!

Still speaking of Grocery Game, anyone know when the last time the game took longer to play?

It probably shouldn't have, but it surprised me to hear Gwen with the English accent.  Awesome first showcase!

There's nothing like an Any Number win on the eighth pick!

Make Your Move: Kinda obvious I guess, the spa wasn't going to be $7k.

I didn't find it obvious at all.  Heck, this was a rare difficult playing where all six possibilities looked fair game.

Quote from: TPIRFan1986
Danger Price: I was right about the food processor being the danger price, too. Roger didn't want THIS won, either!

I don't understand why you thought Roger didn't want the game won, since you mention you would've won yourself.  The food processor couldn't have been screaming "DON'T PICK ME!" any more loudly!

GROCERY GAME:...Here's how I would have gone about it:...$21.79 <-- OVER

In case you ever get on the show, it's best to save the cheapest item--the cookies, in today's case--for last.

I don't like to really complain too much about some contestants, but it pained me to watch MYM, Grocery and Stop Sign Game... wow... it made my head hurt each time. And then, of course the WSD...

Great A# win, painful Dicey loss, Drew's delightful hands in Grocery and comment in MYM, "Let's see that Union guy!", and Gwen's wonderful readings in the Showcase... I was very impressed that when she got to the prize, she gave it that nearly-patented Rich Fields emphasis... great job Gwen!

Drew, looks like you're becoming a natural at this... you're looking more comfortable!

MYM: Not one of the best playings of this game.

Dice: Bad luck.

Freeze: The only simple price pays off.

A TELEPHONE PLUG??!!! :-o :-o Who knew we would see the day?

Danger: Even I knew the Food processor was not to be picked.

Any #: I actually thought 4 was the last digit in the car.  Joann made this win so dramatic and wonderful.

Grocery: Drew modeling the products...Priceless. Kyle's questionable strategy cost him big time.

Showcases: When I saw the start of Showcase #1 without hearing Rich's voice, I had a funny feeling we would hear Gwennie's Osbourne's pretty voice. Life can be so grand. I didn't even thought she had an English accent. Still, A beautiful and mellow voice. :-D I hope we will see more of these very soon and it gets my nod for "Showcase of the Year". Good Job for James while Poor Haywardetta went off by so small.

A 3.50-star show.

Any time people find Make Your Move obvious, I find it really tricky, and when people find it very tough is the only time I find it easy. I'm just messed up, I guess.

For the first time in my years watching Price, I actually heard a sound when Drew was moving the sliders.
I noticed the same today, also for the first time.

I don't know why she picked 6 as the last digit in Any Number, but I think we're all glad she did!

I'm also wondering if they gave Gwendolyn extra focus on things like today's showcase because she'll have to leave soon (for obvious reasons), so they're making sure to give her extra time to "make up for it"? I don't know, just baseless guessing.

Opening: I've noticed in this and the last few episodes that the jib camera hasn't been immediately finding the contestants during the first four calldowns.  It's been hovering over the general area, then zooming in quickly as the contestant stands up.  I like this better, as it reminds me of the original pre-jib camera shots.  However, they've added a zoom to the jib cam shot that occurs after the mic handoff; I prefer the sweeping arc over the crowd that they've been doing the past few months.

MYM: Why does it seem that every contestant lately doesn't quite understand how this works?  Fairly easy setup today.

Dice: Bad luck on the rolls.  I had a feeling that third number was higher, but the fourth number threw me also.

SCSD1: A telephone ticket plug?!?!  Rather unexpected, but understandable--I mean, they should have another means of obtaining tickets for the non-web-savvy viewers since elimination of the mail plug.  I think they should change it to "1-800" instead of "800", as I think it flows a bit better when read aloud.

Danger:  Haywardetta must've thought the food processor was less than the danger price...

Any#:  I would've picked the numbers in just about the same order.  When it came down to the final choice, I also said 6.  Great dramatic win!

Grocery:  I can't remember the last time a contestant used all 5 items in a playing.  Kyle was very cautious throughout, but unfortunately he used the cookies way too early.  If I were playing, I would have taken 8 Hot Pockets and 1 cookie to win.  Gotta love the way Drew "modeled" the grocery items!

SC1: I really enjoyed the TPIR News showcase.  I didn't realize Gwendolyn had an accent.  Anyway, I do hope they reuse this theme in the future featuring the other models.  Maybe eventually Rich could get some showcase acting time by being featured as the anchor...

SC2: Ouch, over by so little...

I'm also wondering if they gave Gwendolyn extra focus on things like today's showcase because she'll have to leave soon (for obvious reasons), so they're making sure to give her extra time to "make up for it"? I don't know, just baseless guessing.

I've been noticing on the last few shows during the showcases, they're featuring Gwendolyn in only one showcase (usually with little moving around) while the other two models are featured in both.  During the rest of the show, she also seems to be slotted in such a way that she doesn't have to move around too quickly to opposite parts of the stage.  Gwen does seem to be getting more camera time, though, by Drew mentioning her pregnancy often and being seen in a few more of the shots during the credits.

SHOWCASES: I always wondered what Gwendolyn's voice sounded like. Now if only we could hear the other models talk.

You can, just check out priceisright.com. For there are model interviews on there; so far they have Brandi's & Gwennie's. I'm sure the site will have more in the future.
