RIP Lennie Weinrib (cartoon voice)
« on: June 28, 2006, 04:28:23 PM »
Lennie Weinrib, cartoon voice (as well as the voice of H.R. Pufnstuf) has passed away. He was 71. Among his voices were Inch High Private Eye, Scrappy Doo (he was Scrappy's first voice before Don Messick took over), Gomez Addams on the 1973 Addams Family cartoon, Moonrock on Pebbles & Bamm Bamm, and DePatie-Freleng characters Roland and Rattfink. He also voiced one-shot characters on shows like Hong Kong Phooey, Emergency Plus 4, and The Tom & Jerry/Grape Ape Show.

Don't forget "Timer," the character on ABC Saturday morning interstitials best remembered for his "Hanker for a Hunk of Cheese" song.

A video of that and a nice remembrance from one of his friends are here.

I remembered H. R. Pufnstuf (BTW I hate it that Jack Wild is also dead), Timer (Hanker for a Hunk of Cheese), and also, Magic Mongo, on the Krofft Supershow in the 1977-78 season.

Lennie, you will be missed.

Sad news...I actually liked his Scrappy (he also had the advantage of the regular Scooby formula and the entire gang being intact during his episodes, but I liked his voice better than Messick's for this character)

Wasn't he Hunk on Voltron too?  And Freddy Flintstone on The Flintstone Kids?
I STILL BELIEVE IN "THE PRICE IS RIGHT"
