FULL RECAP - TPiR 03/19/2008
« on: March 19, 2008, 02:52:50 PM »
Before we get going, just a reminder. We're now on NCAA Tournament Break. No First-Run Price the next two days.
For most, Price airs the hour before the tourney. Out west, you'll likely join the show in play after Games 2 end (around 2:15 PT).

That whole thing with Michael in the second segment was hilarious. Drew's right... if you didn't laugh at any of that, something's wrong with you.

Very nice of the crew to make some cakes for Gwen. I assume that means this is her last show until the big day. If you're reading this, Gwen... here's hoping all goes well with the new baby!

HOTTIES: #211, Carmie; #212, Heather :-D

This was a fun show today.

Flip Flop: I said FLOP and lost.  Susan flips and wins the hot tub---thanks to some audience help.

IUFB 2: Funny Michael put the 69 bid in....Drew definitely got a kick out of it....that strategy worked!

Pathfinder: Bummer that Michael Bummer (no pun intended) lost the game....his guesses on the second number really killed it for him.

Grand Game: Leslie wins $10,000!  Her picks were my picks (V8, Hot Pockets, Aspercreme, and the Wink Hair)

2 for the Price of 1: Carmie's guess was my guess for the dinette $495...we both won!

More or Less: When Ruben said LESS on the cotton candy machine, I cringed.  Yep, it was MORE (I was a little afraid of that one).

Double Prices: David picks $3000 plus along with me....we both won!

SCSD 2: Ouch, tough break for David and Ruben with their 95 cent tie.  Carmie gets $1,000 and almost gets additional money on her bonus spin.

Showcases: That trailer was on STEROIDS!  Tough break for Carmie.  No bummer for Michael in the showcases....he redeems himself!
This show was bad just like yesterday's.  No cars won.

Barbara

I disagree....sure no cars were won, but the segment with Michael and Drew was definitely worth watching.

Well, for your information, I love seeing the car games get won.

69 = the funniest Drew Drop ever. This is the first time a sexual innuendo slipped through daytime television since the popping breasts incident back in the 1970's. I proudly dub $69, the new 420.

Speaking of 420's, we also got a subtle salute to Mary Jane on the fifth segment (Drew even whispered "420" after Ruben made his bid). Man, if you like recaps, this is all you're gonna need to know:

Quote
1. Sex sells, but it's not good enough for a Jeep Wrangler.
2. Marijuana - the gateway to a cotton candy fantasy.

One of these days, a contestant is gonna bid $96. Gilbert Gottfried, I'm praying for you.

Anyone as troubled by the above as I am? I must be missing something.  Meanwhile...

This show was bad just like yesterday's.  No cars won.

WHAT? The whole show is bad because the car games are not won? REALLY?

I assure you your opinion is singular at best. You may like seeing all the car games won, but even though they weren't the show as a whole wasn't as bad as you're making it.

Opening: Back to purple...
Flippy: Nice impersonation Rich! :-D
Pathy: :headbang: For the record, I had an EXACTA...
Grandy: Moderately easy setup.
SD1: .70 survives...what's this, the phone plug again?
2/1: 2964 - 465 = $2499, well done!
More/Less: How could he think that cotton candy maker was < 1k?
DP: Same color in the middle?
SD2: Drew, it's not that shocking, I've seen two .95s beaten before! :oldlol:
SCs: Wow, 4 prizes in 1 SC, including a medium trailer. Too bad she majorly garfed.
Ending: Yay cake! :P Is she on maternity leave now?

Is she on maternity leave now?

Most definitely. She's due in two weeks. Further, you will notice in the "Who's On When" sticky (I updated it today) she's not scheduled to appear in the next three weeks worth of shows. Nor is Shane, for that matter - and she's rumored to be returning.

Well, the opening titles changed back to purple today.

I loved how Rich sounded when he was introducing the hot tub, by picking up on Drew's voice.

It was very fitting that Gwendolyn model the "Mother and Child" pendant since she's expecting her baby pretty soon.

I really don't want to know what prompted Drew to laugh at Michael's $69 bid, it just came out of nowhere.  It was hilarious to see Drew was unable to regain his composure for a few seconds.  This kind of reminds me of an incident involving the number 69 that happened back on the Eubanks version of Card Sharks, about 20 years ago.

Also I thought it was funny when Drew said "If you didn't laugh, something's wrong with you" after he mentioned Michael's last name was Bummer.

I found it a bit hilarious when Drew made a laugh out of Michael's last name during the end of Pathfinder.  Also, this is the first time this season in which a contestant used up all the extra chances for the second number and lost the game at the third number.

I really wonder why the red $10,000 graphic was used for Grand Game instead of the green one.

It seems like forever since we saw the Four Seasons showcase, and it was awesome to see it make a return appearance in the Drew Carey era!

It was very nice to see those cakes for Gwendolyn at the end, shame the real credits were not aired so that we could have seen her thanking everyone.

Flip Flop: I got every price in mind except the right one. Love the impersonation Rich did there!  :oldlol:

IUFB #2: This was very funny the moment Michael bid $69.  :oldlol: Yet it worked!  :oldlol:

Pathfinder: That second number really killed his chances. A bummer for a Bummer unfortunately. (no pun intended either)

Grand Game: Leslie's 4 were my 4 picks as well.

2 For The Price of 1: $425 was my guess. I was wrong. Carmie was right with $465. Good for her.

More Or Less: Boy did Ruben blew it by saying LESS on the candy candy cart.

Double Prices: $3330 was my pick also.

SCSD #2: You gotta feel for Ruben and David. Having their 95 cent tied score get beaten by Carmie's $1.00. And yet for her she almost won more money on her bonus spin.

Showcases: Tough break for Carmie as she garfed on her showcase. She was such a sweetheart. Shame she didn't win. No more bummers for Michael though. A great bid by him for redemption.

Very sweet for the crew to bring out the cakes for Gwennie as she's expecting a boy. Wishing you all the best girl on your arrival of your new baby.
