Okay guys, it's finally time!

We're there! The downloadable version of The Price Is Right has been released!

A few things to note: I've spoken to the nice lady in charge of our marketing department, and we'll have a few keys to give away to you guys. Sadly we couldn't get them in time for tonight, but we should have them tomorrow. I'll arrange something with your friendly neighborhood forum admin and we start the party. Smile

Now, if you guys have ANY questions or comments about this release, feel free to discuss them here with me. I'll do my best to answer everything you might ask. Questions about the development of the game are also welcome, and if there's anything I can't answer myself I'll make sure to ask the proper authorities for answers!

Now, for a few anecdotes about the game's development.

1- Rich Fields, who provides all of our english voice-over work, is a VERY cool guy. I've had the pleasure of working with him 3 times (over the phone, mind you. Living in Montreal makes it kind of difficult to meet someone who works in Los Angeles!) and he's been very nice every single time.

2- Our french language version should come out very shortly. Now I don't think much of you guys are from Quebec, but an interesting tidbit is that we got one of the most popular voice-over and game show personality in Quebec - his name is Yves Corbeil. Also quite a stand up guy - I had a few interesting recording sessions with him and it was a blast.

3- We went through many revisions of the "Single Player" game mode. We eventually settled for the one which was the closest to being an actual contestant on the show (with some obvious liberties more akin to being in a video game!).

4- Our Party Mode's idea comes from one of our programmers. One day he came to me saying "JC, what about if we made the party mode this way?". We all thought the idea was great, so we decided to try it out, and finally I think it came out great. We wanted something that would involve all the players while not having too much downtime. I think it's great!

That's about it for now. I'll be looking at the thread daily and answering questions. I hope you guys have as much fun with it as we had with crafting the game!

Downloaded.  Very neat game.  (kind of a buzzkill to play Plinko first, and take the game for $32,000 first time out.)  Cheesy

I can say you were very lucky Smile

Actually, the first time I played Plinko, I got $40,000. After that my best has been around $20,000... Beginner's luck it seems!

Nice looking game. Very impressive for a downloadable game.

However, I have 2 questions/issues:

1. If I pay for the game, will I be able to move the executable/files or is it stuck on my desktop? I ask because I'd like to install it in my laptop and/or what I do in the event of a major crash and I lose the game.

2. What's the difference between this and the retail version, aside from the delivery method? (broadband vs CD)

JC, thanks for telling us about the game!  It's really great to see another Canadian around (I live near Toronto) and we're all very excited about the launch.  I'm really happy that you think highly of Rich, he's been a great friend to all of us here at G-R.net

JC and the folks at Ludia: AMAZING JOB!

I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed the free trial of the game.  Of course, I won a mere $1000 on Plinko the first time (and messed up the last two SPs)...oh well. Cheesy

The next time around, I won $30K on Cliffhangers, and Yodely-guy only moved 16 steps!

I especially love the actual prize descriptions read by Rich and the actual show footage was great!  Very Happy

In the words of the legendary Bob Barker: Bea-u-ti-ful!! I absolutely love it!! Although I think Plinko is broken Razz it only let me win $1500 lol. IT'S FREAKING AMAZING!!! Well done. Thanks for all the hard work.

One question...is there a possibility of setting up a contest to "give away" a few free downloads of the game? I've only got 7mins left on my trial Sad and I'm broke from buying the DVD lol. I simply LOVE this game!

I created a group for here. The group name is GOLDENRD. They have a letter limit for the group names, so I had to shorten it.

Considering $9.99 is the highest price you can input into Check-Out, I'm hoping there aren't any products higher than that?

It's in the Bag was kinda' disorienting, matching the prices to the product, rather than the other way around.  I don't know if it was necessarily harder, but it probably didn't help that I got the toughest product for the first bag Razz.

I got two achievements.  One for a pricing game, and the other for contestants' row.  I can take a good guess what my achievement was for the pricing game, but I have no idea what the heck I did to earn it in contestants' row, besides winning a really cheap prize Shocked....

I'm kinda' curious if it's possible to get the wheel to not make a complete spin.  I tried a few times, but no matter what I did, the wheel always went all the way around.  Ah well.

Anyway, basically, seems pretty cool Smile.
