"Feud" possibly returning to primetime
« on: March 26, 2008, 09:33:46 AM »
NBC and FremantleMedia North America are in the stages of doing a primetime celebrity edition of Family Feud later this year. It would mark the first network appearance of the show since 1993 and the first network primetime appearance since 1984.

More about it here.

Didn't know you had this posted, but I posted it in "talk is right", due to the mention of more TPIR in primetime in said article

Thats pretty cool. I love John O as the host of the Feud, he is doing a fine job.
Signatures are overrated.

If this goes through, this is the first time network Feud will air on NBC.  Also, this will possibly mark the first time since 2003 that the show filmed at NBC studios.

Doubt it. They'll probably keep taping at Tribune.

This may be just the boost the Feud needs to become a dominant game show again. Plus, the fact that GSN and ION gained the rights to O'Hurley reruns definitely doesn't hurt the cause.

Didn't see this coming. It ought to be good, though.

Jeez, how much exposure can O'Hurley Feud possibly get? This seems like overkill to me.

I wish they would bring back the Robert Israel theme that they used through the Dawson and Combs era (and a bit of the Karn era). If not, TPIR should reclaim it as a car cue. That piece is too cool to be sitting mothballed in the Fremantle archives.

The thing is, John O's version is GAINING in ratings, and now that its getting even more exposure, i think the ratings will get even better.

I was under the impression that they tape at CBS now at the Bob Barker Studio as they did during Ray's days or did this never actually happen?

John O'Hurley as the host of Feud is vastly overrated. He's WAY too stuffy, and it makes me shudder to think how awful he would have been had he got the job on Price.
I'll put this in here, but I didn't want it to overshadow the more interesting topic of specials. Earlier in the show Mike and Beth talked about Jenny McCarthy's appointment to The View and it leads to Mike talking about her appearance on Price. Mike says that he and the staff mulled over whether or not to have her on the show because of the controversy that follows her. They ultimately decided to have her because she's "a great advocate for what she believes in." Now, Mike didn't specify exactly what he meant by "what she believes in" and what "belief" of her's that he's addressing, but that could certainly be taken the wrong way.

I beg your pardon? John O is a great host, and i completely disagree with your statement.
