5 Digit 5 Price Tags, May 1977
« on: March 14, 2008, 01:53:33 AM »

In what's probably one of the first playings of a pricing game other than Golden Road for a 5 digit vehicle, 5 Price Tags is played for a van in 1977. The contestant only gets one pick - earning one on the 4th try. When she wins, Bob nearly gets mauled in her excitement.

God, I love that van!  Now THAT represents the scope of the 1970s!  :-D

This game was the first win of a perfect show!!  This is one of my favorite episodes of TPIR that I have.    Also the showcase for this episodes had the infamous Flaky Flick "Socky".

It's a shaggin wagon, 70's style.  Nice win on 5 Price Tags.  Janice, Dian, and Holly are each wearing different patchwork pattern skirts with white peasant blouses.

Is this the episode that's recapped in Maxene Fabe's book, "The Game Show Book," by chance?

If so, I'd like to see how Geneva Maryland's games and "Socky" actually played out. This must have been one show where all the stops were pulled, and more expensive than usual prizes were offered (e.g., the Cadillac Seville in the "Socky" showcase).

If you Google "Shaggin' Wagon", you get a picture of that van.
