Gloria quite obviously didn't know or understand the rules of Now or Then, leading to the only 5-in-a-row win in the game's history. Bizarre.

Showcases: Oww...I was over by only $218. :(

I didn't like tomas at all.  When he lost the car, he almost looked like he didn't really care.  He looked to me like he was showing off.  If this is considered bashing, feel free to delete it.

And I'm surprised that you're surprised the tens digit was 1.  How often is the tens digit a 1, now?  The contestants might not be expecting it, but we really oughta' know better.

I think that Fireball was alluding to the fact that there was already a 1 as the first digit in the price, and Roger usually does not have repeating numbers in Temptation.

We actually just had a discussion in chat last week about this, as to whether the first number was exempt to this rule or not, and I guess that this playing gives us the answer.

I really think that Drew dropped the ball on Now or Then. You gotta take control of the show and tell the contestant that picking a random item isn't going to do her any good. Led to a long and odd playing

I'm not convinced.  Maybe you two are right, but I think it's equally possible that she knew how to play the game, and knew that there are always 4 "nows" and 2 "thens".  Perhaps she was just nervous and felt the need to make an extra move or two as a means of confirmation.

Good show today.

I think you're giving her way too much credit there.  I can buy that she was nervous, and maybe even that she knew the game, but I'm not buying that she knew there are always four nows and two thens.  That's not very common knowledge among casual fans--I'd bet many loyal friends and true who aren't on this site haven't even noticed--and Gloria did not give the impression of a loyal friend and true, anyway.

Oh, that's ridiculous.  Nobody but us pays that much attention to the show.  The woman was confused and probably just thought she had to get three consecutive right answers.

You never know.  Maybe she's one of the site's many lurkers or something.

Just a theory.

Gloria just wanted more tv time.. she knew what she was doing the whole time  ;)

and i'm pretty sure Tomas made little devil horns on top of his head with fingers right before they switched cameras to the item up for bids... i'm fully blaming his allegiance to the dark unholy underlord for his Temptation loss.

Except that both THENS had been revealed by the third pick, so if she knew that, she'd know that everything left on the board was a NOW anyway, making that pointless.

Just like in Golden Road, some people take the 'repeating digits' "rule" too far and think it applies to the 'free' digit.

Like I said - she was probably nervous.  I know I'd be.

She probably was nervous.  No one's arguing that point.  We're trying to argue the "she knew there are always four NOWs and two THENs" point.  Even had she had nerves of steel on stage, I don't think she'd have had any clue about that ;).

Can we call this using the "King Kong Bundy Gambit" (taking a five count when three would suffice) to win?

No, it would be a Monty Python Win. It was King Arthur in the Holy Grail where he would count 1 .. 2 .. 5 before someone interupted him and said 3 before throwing the Holy Hand Gurnade (SP)

OWP: I was also crossed between thedrum set and the golf clubs as well. Too bad.  :-(

Punch: Angela turning down $1000 didn't look like a good idea. Good thing for that second chance to save her from total disaster.

Money: Jan was a BLAST!!! You just gotta love her priceless reaction after winning that car. Good job.  :-)

NowThen: Gloria's playing wasn't bad nor was it great. But still, It looked practically intresting.

Temptation: Tomas blew it from the start. $18995 could'nt be the price at all.

Double: Nice.

Showcases: The Complainer's Court sketch was a hoot. Angela now wishes she changed her bid.

A 3.50-star show.
