What they shhould do in Triple Play.
« on: July 13, 2006, 11:59:25 PM »
I think that because Triple Play wasn't won this season, contestants should be offered the option to quit. Either quit or they could change the NO rules. Like on the 1st car, you have to find the YES, on the second car you have 2 chances and on the final car you have 3 chances.

Do you think that either one of these rules should be put on? I think that offering the contestant to quit would be good.

I think you should be asking this in the right topic area.

Bad idea. Why would the contestant bother going for the third car if they can quit after the second car?

If I was going to change one thing about Triple Play, I'd have them do a Superball-esque introduction of the 3 cars (complete with the MG/HS Hour theme).

That's asinine.  Triple Play would suddenly become the easiest car game on the show (not necessarily to win, but to win a car in).

EDIT:  Wow.  I didn't even see the second suggestion at first.  That's even dumber.  Roger would never even be able to play the damn thing -- or Golden Road, or 3 Strikes -- because nobody would ever lose it again.

Triple Play is supposed to be hard to win!  I mean, they're offering three cars, for heaven's sake!

With the first suggestion, I could bet that most contestants would quit after winning the first car, and I can't imagine anyone who would risk losing two cars to only win one more.

And the second suggestion actually makes the game a lot easier for the second and third cars.  Bad idea.

If they did that, they'd have to change the name of the game to "That's Too Easy!"
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Car games are SUPPOSED to be HARD people.  You're playing for a CAR, not a $3,000 set of furniture.  It shouldn't be a 50/50 shot.  That's what makes the car games fun...seeing contestants overcome DIFFICULT odds.  Who the heck wants to see all the games turn into gimmes??  Lots of winners does NOT necessarliy make for a good show.

OK, so Triple Play wasn't won last season? It was only played 6 times! Take Two was also played 6 times, and it was only won once!

The game is supposed to be hard! You hardly ever see Bullseye or Pick a Pair being played for a car. To me, your idea seems like playing one of those games for 3 cars!

It'd be nice if there was a poll on this. We could see the "NO!" line get very long!  :-)

Absolutely not,
Roger Dobkowitz's Seven Commandments of The Price Is Right:
1. Tape and edit the show as if it were live.
2. Never tell the contestant what to do.
3. Size matters. (The bigger the prize, the better the prize and the bigger the reaction.)
4. All prizes are good.
5. Never do anything on the show that would embarrass a parent with a kid watching.
6. Never put on a prize that would make the show look cheap.
7. It’s the game, stupid! (It’s about the game.)
