Vietnam PIR -- looks cool! They just started that?

Love the logo -- but where is the "$"?
I see a "?" there... or don't they deal with dollars?

According to the wiki, 2004. It looks as though it is still on the air (According to www.vtv.vn).

The national currency of Vietnam is the dong. I suspect a diem is like the Indian crore (a unit of measure but not the currency).

As for the "cheapness"...Vietnam has a population of over 83 million and the per capita income (the avergae amount earned by each person in a year) is $3,000. Winning an LCD computer monitor would be a big deal.

Hmm...so a "diem" might be 1,000 dong.

Actually, that almost makes sense. If you use that Lexmark all-in-one as an example...it costs 2,511 diem (or 2,511,000 dong). Using the current conversion makes the Lexmark about $160. (Or that LCD monitor about $289)


Side note: My friend recently came home from Pakistan and showed me a 1,000 rupee note (about C$20). He said 30 rupees gets him lunch...60¢
