Does anyone else think it reasonably possible that Honda offered promotional consideration specifically in exchange for both its Civic and Accord models appearing on the same episode & to the exclusion of any other make of automobile during that episode?

I would imagine yes.  Especially the way the announce copy was written to play up the "made in Ohio" angle.

The end credits said "Honda America Motor Company of Ohio" instead of the usual obscure southern California auto dealership plug.

I half expected to see an Element or one of their SUVs in the showcase today, but it was the boat instead.

One thing to note about the foreign cars offered...both were made in the US and Rich announced them as such (I think both in Ohio.)  Glad to possibly see they have realized that some foreign cars ARE made in the US...

Well that's the thing. it's so blurred nowadays. Even an "all American" organization like NASCAR figured that out before Price did. Opening things up to foreign cars made here will get them into some nice cars.

The only reason (until this show) that there were American car brands was it was after 9/11 IIRC and for a surge of Patriotism as it were.

Except your wrong.  The show had been using all American cars for years before 9-11.

Close...it was a show of patriotism after the first Bush got us into the first Gulf War.

Personally, I think Price jumped in 1989 when they retired The Phone Home Game, but we're all entitled to our opinions.

Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Jump the shark" means whenever a TV show becomes not a good show anymore.  For instance, some say that TPIR "jumped the shark" (i.e. not become a good show anymore) when Janice and Kathleen were fired.

FPGWillyT is saying that he believes that re-offering foreign cars made TPIR "jump the shark" / not become a good show anymore.

Great to see more foreign makes on the daytime show.  Hondas are excellent cars, according to my dad - the auto mechanic.  He's worked on a lot of cars for the last 35 years and he says the foreign cars like Honda and Toyota are easy to work on.  He also says the worst cars to work on are Fords, Mercurys, and Lincolns.  Anytime he watches the show, he cringes when he sees anything by the Ford Motor Company.

A lot of the cars are made in Canada and Mexico, not too many are made in the U.S. anymore.  There's no reason why they didn't lift this ban years ago (this reminds me of the 'can ban' we had in my province up until a week ago).

"Jump the shark" originated from a website aptly called jumptheshark.com.

Straight from their own Q & A:

Quote
Q. What is jumping the shark?

A. It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite television program has reached its peak. That instant that you know from now on...it's all downhill. ... From that moment on, the program will simply never be the same.

Since I've owned Accords for the last 20 years, offering Honda again is fine with me  ;)
