TPIR- 1975 Do-it-Yourself Showcase w/Video
« on: May 18, 2008, 07:29:04 AM »
Finally posted on youtube is a full video of the famous short lived do-it0-yourself showcase where you can choose your prizes.

I think she was confused about the format, because she picks what she wants in the order Bob says it, when its obvious they are at random.

Since Bob never really even explained how the DIY showcase works, I'm not surprised she seemed confused. This must not be the only time they played it; Bob doesn't even make any reference to it being a DIY showcase; he just jumps right into the gameplay.

Ruphina could've had a really cheap showcase if she had picked the wrong cards (she didn't even do so hot in this case); I can't see lamps, a canoe, and an Acapulco trip coming to more than $6000 nowadays.
"Atinale el precio" moment: Contestant Laila has jumped into Marco's arms and taken his microphone.

Laila: "How much do I weigh? Give me your bid."
Marco: "Er...without going over?"

Does anyone happen to know Pamela's last name? Her husband could've been a really famous baseball player.
Signatures are overrated.

Yes, your right. Bob seems like he asks her what she wants, and she picks choices based on the order Bob described possible prizes. Im kinda glad they retired it.

Yeah, IMO, its only cool for nostalgia reasons. It had an uninteresting presentation when she was choosing the envelopes, and because 9 different things had to be ready to present at any time, it led to an uninteresting presentation. Glad it was dropped early on. They could have tinked with it later on, but when its not broke, dont fix it.
