Another thing to remember about this is that many viewers aren't glued to their tv screens like we all are, so the price needs to be spoken aloud in this game. Many people are in the house doing laundry or making the beds, still listening in to the show but maybe having stepped into another room for a moment. To me, it just feels weird not to hear the price.
