Stats keepers: How long has it been since someone had a wipeout on the first prize in GR? $2xx vs. $5xx is a little more challenging than that choice usually is (something like $8xx vs. $1xx), but she still shouldn't have wrecked on the first turn in the road.

A $93K GR prize plus a $68K showcase could have made someone pretty close to a daytime record-breaker today.  Too bad the contestant who wound up in that position was so completely clueless.

John

EDIT: I just did the math. If Alicia had won GR and then DSWed, she would have won approximately $192,000, which would beat VickyAnn Sadowski by quite a bit. I'm assuming $4000 for the dining set at the second turn in the road, whose price we never saw.

Err...higher, Drew!  Oh wait...false?  Um...what do I do, just pick a number?

Of course, I DVR'd only the Showcase round, anticipating some sort of hum-haw "I don't remember the first prize" or "Can I pass the showcase back" if she was the second bidder.

EDIT:  John, if she would have taken the show what they gave her, she would have shattered the record by about $10K...the record is $147,517.
They can be close at the top, too.

You're right. She wouldn't have even had to DSW (as VickyAnn did) to break the record. Somehow I had the digits transposed in my mind, and I thought VA won $174K, not $147.

Well I guess the best thing you could say about the show today is that Golden Road showed up. As far as how it was played, well, as we all know it turned out to be a trainwreck. This was the first time i've ever seen someone miss the first prize. At least Alicia did give us a few good laughs during the 1st IUFB.

Coming or Going was about as easy as easy can get. I think it was a couple seasons ago when a trip to Miami was offered and the actual price was $5031 or something which was the going price. There probably would have been a riot in the studio if Matthew had lost this.

One Right Price was impossible. That price looked reasonable on both the popcorn cart and the television.

Hopefully Triple Play will not show its ugly mug tomorrow.   :P

Alicia was decent on the SC, it could have been garfed worse. But I knew 22k was an excellent bid for the other SC, so she was doomed.

Just so crushing today. Nothing's as cheap as $300 as a prize anymore, I don't know how long it will be until we get another daytime appearance, but it's going to be awhile, and I was hoping to at least remember some excitement from it.

Add that to a horrible 2nd half and an epic fail finesse bonus spin, and we've got ourselves a C+ day, really. :(
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Drew has got to stop it with these "fancy" entrances.  It was part of the reason why I never wanted John O'Hurley as host.  I figured Drew was smart enough to not start ridiculous garbage like that, but since he has, it needs to end now.

Alicia... wow... in an attempt to be as nice as possible, I'll only ask how in the world did Stan pick her?  It's one thing to completely blow Golden Road on as simple of a pick for the first prize as she did, but to not even know how the One Bids work?  Just... wow.

Speaking of Golden Road, it was such a big letdown, I felt.  Not just because Alicia blew it so quickly, but the cues absolutely sucked.  The cabin cruiser could have really used The Bean Stalker.

When did they change ½ Off's second intro cue?  That tinny piece they use now isn't what I would call an improvement.

Does the first wheel spinner ever get to walk up to the wheel anymore?

Since when has Drew been passing the buck in Pass the Buck?  That's a change I like.  It certainly works for much easier camerawork for the buck-passing.

Speaking of easy camerawork, I don't understand how Drew can approach a price reveal like he did in 1 Right Price and Bart still miss catching the price reveal.
Roger Dobkowitz's Seven Commandments of The Price Is Right:
1. Tape and edit the show as if it were live.
2. Never tell the contestant what to do.
3. Size matters. (The bigger the prize, the better the prize and the bigger the reaction.)
4. All prizes are good.
5. Never do anything on the show that would embarrass a parent with a kid watching.
6. Never put on a prize that would make the show look cheap.
7. It’s the game, stupid! (It’s about the game.)

Half Off's intro cue was changed on February 20, 2008, that very playing featured one of our members, Jaimal Ware (jimlange).  What's interesting is that Drew told him they were going to play Half Off before the doors opened to reveal the $10,000 tag.

I believe Drew started moving the buck himself on the April 2, 2008 playing.

Why? I find it quite funny.

You may find it quite funny, but I find it quite unprofessional, and between the qualities of humouring and professionalism, which one is Drew in quite more obvious need of developing?

How about a balance of the two? We all agree that Drew has some rough spots that still need some work, but what's wrong with Drew being Drew?

Balance is nice, but I think we have the "Drew being Drew" part covered well enough.

Goldy:  $287?!  Are you kidding me?!  :headbang:

Halfy:  WHOO!  TPIR video game!

Balance:  "Applebee's helps keep me slim!" :oldlol:

Pass teh Suck:  Ah... our beloved Pillsbury crescent rolls have returned.  And thank you, Drew, for catching yourself and calling the Louisiana Hot Sauce "inexpensive" instead of "cheap".

1RP:  "Chevy... that's better than Ford, I guess."  Well, there goes Ford's sponsorship.

My showcase bids:
Room/bikes--$21,707
Corvette--$63,707
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

I sometimes find it funny and it shows that he's in a good mood and ready to take the bull by the horns. When he does the little goofy stuff it reminds me of Gene Rayburn really when he would come through the doors on Match Game.

All opinions expressed here are well-reasoned and insightful. Needless to say, they are not those of the Price is Right, or any organization for which I have worked for or will work for. Anyone who says otherwise is itching for a fight.
