Drew had his A game today.

Checky: Just goes to show, this game is NOT impossible.

Tempty: I guess the 0 was wrong. Bart missed the reveal...

CoG: Seriously, this game is on FIRE this season!

Cardy: I was surprised Fingers allowed him to change what he wanted the ace to be. Nevertheless, it didn't matter.

1RP: I'm sorry, that was just pure evil. You can't stop the Dob!

Grocery: That was just great! As Drew said, it was a "knockout!" Pure awesomeness.

SCs: Oy vey. Those were some tough prices.

Great show today.
Signatures are overrated.

The Caddy, despite a :gotc: and OB combo for it to be won, made up for an awful Cardy & 1RP. Good job on Checky & Grocery as well, I figured there had to be repeating 3s in Tempty. And... I MUST DIG!, but no bonus cash yet...

B+
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

What does SLAM DUNK mean?

MOD NOTE: As applied to Grocery Game, it means hitting the target range with one purchase, as happened today. Not advised unless you're really sure of yourself.

Interesting lineup to say the least today, esp. as far as slotting is concerned. The only thing that would have made it better would have been seeing Card Game played last for the first time in years.

Y'know I wonder why 1 Right Price is getting so much more play than Switch? or BBB? This is the 3rd time in 3 weeks this game has shown up.

It seems like Coming or Going has already been won more times this year than it was all of last year.  :P

Seeing Card Game 4th was neat, as far as the gameplay goes that's a different story.

1 Right Price hasn't been played fifth in a while I don't believe.

Answering William's question, I believe a slam dunk is when the contestant wins by choosing just one product, but I could be wrong.

Check Game: I would say $3000 as well. Though $2500 would've won it for her as well.

Temptation: I had a feeling that car price would be wrong. Luckily Reena decided to take the prizes.

Coming Or Going: I said "Going" too.

Card Game: I had a feeling he would go over the moment he decided to wager $8000 on the ace.

One Right Price: I knew it was the tv.

Grocery Game: Excellent playing there by Christine. A fellow Canuck nonetheless.

Showcases: Sheila was quite off in her showcase. Luckily she won on account of Christine going over in her showcase.

On this day in TPIR history 22 years ago, we had the infamous incident in which someone cheated in Shell Game.  Now, on with my comments with the show.

Drew was really on top of his game today; he was in an upbeat mood for practically the whole show, and enjoyed celebrating with contestants.  He even revealed Card Game properly, which is a plus.

We have our first win in Check Game with the new range, and I loved how Sheila ran over to Tamiko to celebrate.

Temptation and Card Game appear in the same show for the first time since June 7, 2005!

That was one expensive blender in Temptation, it seems as if Frank was detailing what prizes were to be offered today.  :-P

Bart should have shown the home viewers the whole price after Drew revealed it, since some of us in chat were confused as to what numbers were wrong when Drew said "you had two wrong!" after Reena wisely bailed out with the gifts.

Coming or Going has had a very good streak this year, in just a matter of weeks, it has attained one third of the number of wins that happened last season!

If Roger was still in the producer's chair, would he have allowed the ace to be made for a different amount after the contestant said he wanted something else?  I would say they made the right choice since the contestant was still unsure and Drew didn't discard the ace.

It was great that Scott decided to lower the ace value after the audience expressed disapproval, but it was not so good to only cut it by $1,000.  I'm surprised that he didn't cut it down further at the audience's discretion.

Dang, 1 Right Price was very evil since sofas have been known to be pretty expensive on the show.

I loved how Drew celebrated that win in Grocery Game and later had a chitchat before SCSD #2 about how Christine managed to pull off that win.

I found it odd to hear Syd's TPIR theme play for the Cadillac in showcase #2 instead of Passing Lane or some other cue reserved for expensive cars.

1 Right Price hasn't been played fifth in a while I don't believe.

It was played fifth last on March 11, 2008.

Y'know I wonder why 1 Right Price is getting so much more play than Switch? or BBB? This is the 3rd time in 3 weeks this game has shown up.

I'm still wondering when the heck Magic # will show up!

Did anyone else find the video game plug rather odd?  I  rewound it to watch it twice.  To me it was rather amateurishly directed and staged.  One would think for a network show, the plug would have been a little more slick and professional looking.

Today's was an excellent show.  Drew really was on his game the whole show.  It would be great if he could keep this energy level all the time.  He definitely feeds off the energy of the contestants.

Very quietly in SCSD#2, he referred the asterisk on the carpet as the Goodson mark - it's nice that he still does this.

I won't deny it.  There were times today that Drew was doing better than he did in any of the shows last week; however, I still feel he overdid it in a few places, especially after Christine won Grocery Game.

Sheila's running off the Turntable after winning Check Game brought a thought to my mind:  what would happen if a contestant spontaneously ran over to a trip green screen?  How would they display that?  I'll bet they never thought of that too.

I never, ever want to hear Drew say, "It's your birthday!" again.

Drew did not ask Scott to cut the cards in Card Game.  I'll take that as a good thing since after he lets contestants cut the cards, he explains that he doesn't understand why.

I'd really like to know who wrote the second Showcase today, because I have a feeling that if Roger was still there, the site could have been very well what they might have displayed on the computer monitor, since whatever they did have there really didn't seem too far away from what a forum pages does look like. :)
Roger Dobkowitz's Seven Commandments of The Price Is Right:
1. Tape and edit the show as if it were live.
2. Never tell the contestant what to do.
3. Size matters. (The bigger the prize, the better the prize and the bigger the reaction.)
4. All prizes are good.
5. Never do anything on the show that would embarrass a parent with a kid watching.
6. Never put on a prize that would make the show look cheap.
7. It’s the game, stupid! (It’s about the game.)

I have seen them a couple of times, but didn't today due to watching it on CBS.com and Directv problems.  What did they have today?

COMMENTS ON TPIR 10/06/08:

1.  CHECK GAME:  I've noticed that Drew doesn't tell the player to finish filling out the check (where you write out the amount in words).  Also, this is our first win with the $7,000-$8,000 range.

2.  ONE-BID #2:  For a second I thought Reena had a  :gotc: bidding on those 2 Dahon Espresso Folding Mountain Bikes.

3.  TEMPTATION:  Excellent strategy on Reena's part--she would have lost had she gone for the car.  I would have gone with $23,935 for the Chevy Equinox, gone for the car, and would also have lost.

4.  COMING OR GOING:  Looked fairly easy today.  $8,579 was the only price that seemed right for that Beachcomber Hot Tub.

5.  SHOWCASE SHOWDOWN #1:  What low numbers in this SCSD!

6.  CARD GAME:  The new starting bid is $15,000.  Also, although Scott went over, his changing the value of the Ace of Spades (they're using Big Bicycle playing cards) was a good move.  Always know what you want to bid on the car when you draw an Ace.

7.  GROCERY GAME:  Christine played this game very well.

8.  SHOWCASE:  MAJOR  :gotc: by Sheila.  Her bid doesn't cover the price of the Cadillac GTS. On the other hand, Christine, despite going over, made a reasonable bid.

MY SHOWCASE BIDS:
#1 (Room/Trip): $14,500, DIFF: $5,466
#2 (Cadillac): $32,000, DIFF:  $19,328, MAJOR  :gotc:

That Grocery Game win was pretty impressive. Sure made the audience look dumb.

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY: Sheila and Reena share it
