Showcases with announcers acting question
« on: November 04, 2008, 01:54:35 PM »
When Johnny or Rod would be in a showcase, what would the audience hear for descriptions? I would assume they would have been done prior to the taping, and then piped in over the speakers, but just wondering.

That's about it, actually - although most of the time it doesn't sound pre-recorded.

I think from what I can tell, they were probably prerecorded before the show!!!!!!

For the record, I mean the studio audience, what they would hear, as obviously the home audience gets them prerecorded.

I would assume, given the live-to-tape nature of the show, that the studio audience would be hearing the same prerecorded spiels that are aired to the home audience.

I would love to see Rich acting in a showcase with prerecorded voiceovers, the same way Rod and Johnny did in their time.  It's cool to see Rich on camera and during the showcases, but it kinda gets dull to always see him participate from behind the announcer's podium.

And I just bet that if Roger hadn't been fired, we would be.

You think so?  I believe I read that it was planned for Rich to participate in Showcases this season prior to Roger's dismissal, but to the degree of extra preparation of recording the copy prior to the show?  They haven't done that in years!
Roger Dobkowitz's Seven Commandments of The Price Is Right:
1. Tape and edit the show as if it were live.
2. Never tell the contestant what to do.
3. Size matters. (The bigger the prize, the better the prize and the bigger the reaction.)
4. All prizes are good.
5. Never do anything on the show that would embarrass a parent with a kid watching.
6. Never put on a prize that would make the show look cheap.
7. It’s the game, stupid! (It’s about the game.)
