TPIR Season 37 Promo
« on: November 15, 2008, 11:13:55 AM »
(I strongly encourage you to watch it in high quality here.  Why it won't let me embed high quality, I donno.)

Spliced from the Salute the Troops special.  Yes, your eyes do not deceive you; that appears to be Rachel and Shane pushing a rowing Drew in a canoe.
They can be close at the top, too.

At some point in the promo, Drew's sporting a walking cane. Think it's around the :09 mark where the promo says "make dreams come true".
That's j-a-c-a-y-a. Just As Confused As You Are.

It is obvious to me (as it was to my fiancée) what this "new direction" is based on the promo.

They're trying to make Price a party show. And I'm fine with that.

You may be fine with it, but it's failing fast that way.

Gosh, I really hope that canoe bit is not a part of another of Drew's lame Showcases in a future episode.  I hope it's not part of any episode, but I have this feeling what I hope it isn't the most is what it will be.

1. Tape and edit the show as if it were live.
2. Never tell the contestant what to do.
3. Size matters. (The bigger the prize, the better the prize and the bigger the reaction.)
4. All prizes are good.
5. Never do anything on the show that would embarrass a parent with a kid watching.
6. Never put on a prize that would make the show look cheap.
7. It’s the game, stupid! (It’s about the game.)

To me, it appears to be more of a "funny" entrance than part of a showcase skit.

Oh, gosh, that'd be even worse.  Why can't the guy just enter through the doors with confidence and no antics?

I'm pretty sure the 'walking cane' is actually his cordless mic, which Drew is for some reason holding upside down.

As for the canoe...I'm betting that's an entrance. Note they had to use a prize backdrop because the Barker wall wasn't wide enough. $0,000,000.00 says that the canoe is the first IUFB on that show.

If he's looking for a 'vehicular' entrance, he should've come in on the PiR train or tugboat instead...

Nope, that's his cane.

No, he just should just enter plainly and simply like Bob, Dennis, and Tom did.

HIS cane? I didn't know HE had one.  What for, and will the use of a cane be necessary for the rest of his life?

My mistake, that's a cane. I don't know if it is "officially" his. I honestly forget the reason as to why he needed it. Didn't he injure his ankle or something?

EDIT: Found the reason here.

John said Drew injured his toe back in mid-October, and needed a cane for two taping days.

Those episodes with the cane air the 10-11-12-15th of December.
They can be close at the top, too.

A long while ago I was browsing the "Price Around the World" photo gallery on this very website. When I came across the "Cash & Carlo" photos, (http://www.golden-road.net/gg/thumbnails.php?album=115) I wondered what *our* price would look like with this make-over. Looks like I have the answer.

I'm with mrbrown on this one so far. Inasmuch as I loved Bob's professionalism and general approach, this take isn't too bad, so long as Drew can remember that this is a *game show* that relies on a certain vibe and dramatic reveals.
