The concern I have with this is that removing one of the few short games (3.5 minutes) will have an affect on the longer games on the show.  By not having a full stable of short games, the longer games will be impacted by seeing even less frequent play, and/or games will end up being repeated during the week.

This marks the end of more of the Goodson era, as Mr. Goodson is credited with the creation of Barker's Bargain Bar.

I couldn't believe it when I read Bargain Bar was the game that bit the dust.  I was expecting to read 3 Strikes.  I wonder how the game lasted so long with all of it's mechanical problems and now it gets retired seemingly out of no where.  Couldn't they have just changed the name if they didn't want to use Bob's name anymore? (or maybe he himself wanted it off given the state of the show).  Hate to see the game leave since it was a classic quickie with a cool set and comedy potential with it's once in a while mechanical issues, and now this will make the remaining 2 prize games get very overplayed.

WTF? That's a terrible decision! As much as you could complain about it being played too much, it was the best of the truly quick 2-prize games.

I can't figure out why they would do this. If Drew didn't want to keep referencing Bob, he could've just done the game without bringing him up every single time it was played.

This really sucks.  There was no reason to retire Barker's Bargain Bar.  I'm sure there's a totally stupid reason behind it's retirement from the totally brainless Syd or Mike.

Ok, before everyone starts blaming this on Drew, maybe he was just indifferent about the game? Or mybe he actually was not in on this executive decision?

Why? This was one of the better quickies out there. Another game that should have stayed (Buy or Sell). It sure could make for an exciting last game with two trips, but with today's green screens, this, too, was somewhat lost... Hey, Drew, if you want to retire something, retire Pick-A-Number. At least no-one I know (sorry, PaN fans) likes that game. I worry about the other game, too, but as others have said, I suspect it is 3 Strikes. At this rate, we'll go back to the days of Bonus Game, Number, Double Prices, Grocery Game, and the coming back of Bullseye I. Who's giving [presumably] Drew this power? His fame? Syd? What a disgrace.

With all things Bob being removed these days, (such as the unecessary name change to Barker's Markers; I perfer to call it that) it wouldn't shock me if they went back to Studio 33, for the studio's name, instead of the Bob Barker studio. That would put me over the overly angry at Syd phase, because of what great disrespect to Bob that would be. Yes, I realize how unlikely this is, but, who could have seen the firing of Roger?

(When I saw this topic, I thought another staff member had been dismissed.)

Guess I'll add this to my thread on Retired Games.

Syd can't do that. It would be CBS's call.

Why would Drew not be in on an executive decision?

I genuinely don't think it's because of the title. Otherwise, as said, they would have done with what they did to what's now Make Your Mark at the beginning of the season. There must have been some higher up that found something else within the game.

At this point, I'm more concerned that they'll do to Barker's Marker$ what they did to Barker's Bargain Bar.

Do me a big favor.  Before you send that letter, use spell-check.

Also, I appreciate John's point about how games like BBB allow for longer games to be played.  It was not an exciting game, but Bar served a purpose on the show that I'm not sure the new folks in charge quite realize.

Well, what can I say that hasn't been said already? It just sucks. And just so someone doesn't ask me, I had no idea this news was coming earlier today when I put up the BBB video in the Video Vault and changed my avatar.

Crap! I don't believe this. Granted, BBB wasn't one of my favorite games, but I still can't believe they would retire it for no reason. It's just... INSANE!
