Oh dear,

Forgive me, please.

But if you read it again, there is a whole paragraph exactly right on target.

Well, many people are getting what they wanted (Bart gone) and still aren't happy.

It just goes more and more to prove that some people just can't be happy.  I get the feeling that some here need something to complain about no matter what.

I think a lot of people soon may find that they wish they had kept their mouth shut more.  Especially if the new director changes a lot of shots.  And I'm assuming that will happen, or else why would they fire Bart?

It will be interesting to see what the show looks like with a new director.

For someone who stays more on top of this than me (Steve, Joe?) - when does this mean the first non-Bart directed show will air?

You need to look at the circumstances.  A number of people have been fired from the show this season for no good reason, and anybody who has been fired has usually been a key figure in opposition to the "new direction" of the show.

when does this mean the first non-Bart directed show will air?

They'd first need somebody to direct.  Who the heck is going to do that now?

Yet, generally speaking, most people seem to want to blame Drew. I feel this is unfair, at least partially.

well maybe not directly for this but do you think the show is having all these "changes" just for kicks to spend more money?

think about it..

I've noticed one or two posts that border on telling people to "get a life" or "just shut up." Rememeber, that should never be posted. If you disagree with someone, keep the discussion positive by telling that person why you disagree.

Now that it has been confirmed, do we have any clue who the NEW director is? I mean, taping does resume on Monday does it not?

yes - look up who directed game show marathon and you will have your answer.

The thing is...his directing sucked. So one could argue that this definitely has a reason. Of course I do get your point of being scared of who's being called in, but we're just going to have to wait and see.

I have another question. Is it up to the director as far as the light border goes? Basically, could this new director bring the light border back?

How does gameshow marathon come into this? Do Drew, Fremantle, etc. like the GM directing?

It's not much off topic, but it's very far down the line. They haven't finished taping S37, they haven't started thinking about S38 ... Unless you made a typo?

According to the ticket page they do have a planned date for season 38 and that's coming up in about 4 months. It may change but they've been thinking of it.

Otherwise I feel bad for Bart for being fired I guess. I just hope he will be fine. Now I hope the new director won't be bad or change anything. It will be a while before we see any work.

Sure, if Bart was the only one who got fired this season and we actually had word that he was being fired because his directing sucked, there'd be a lot less trouble; but since Bart is just one of many people who have been fired senselessly this season, we don't know what's up, so we don't know what to make of this.

Personally, I would much rather would have seen Bart actually direct properly instead of seeing him get fired and replaced like this, and it's not like that couldn't have been possible; but since we don't know why he's been fired, we can't draw any conclusions.

How does gameshow marathon come into this? Do Drew, Fremantle, etc. like the GM directing?

Eddie is referring to R. Brian DiPirro, who directed Game$how Marathon.  To which I ask Eddie then, do you have official word that he has been named the new director?

I'm curious who they are considering, R. Brian DiPirro is one possibility because he directed the Game$how Marathon version of the show.  We saw the arrow graphic again and a full shot of the Race Game curtain revealing the prizes for Race Game.  I really think he does have the potential to return the camerawork to a degree, to the days of Alter and Breslow.  I have seen DiPirro's work on Deal or No Deal and Whammy, and I was impressed by it.

Another possibility, and I hope they don't hire him, Andy Felsher, who directed TnPIR '94 and currently directs the Vegas show.  There are several shots from that version that carried over to the daytime, and none have been good.  One prime example of this is just showing the host and contestant and the edge of the Giant Price Tag instead of showing the Tag and then zooming in on the host and contestant.

One thing both these directors have in common is that they how to handle a jib cam properly.

Is there a large difference in salary between the director and associate director?  If there is, and assuming the director gets paid more, I could see them promoting Fred Witten to director, but I wouldn't want to see his camerawork on a regular basis.  There was one show in Season 35 were he subbed for Bart, who had an appointment that day, and most of us wanted Bart back the next day after seeing that show.

While I agree that Bart is not Breslow nor Alter, he had a chance to direct the show his own way, and there have been a few things that didn't work out quite as well as we would've wanted. For example, the price reveals were perfectly done back in the Breslow and Alter eras, not always so in Bart's time. I also miss how games like Check Game, Any Number and Shell Game would come around on the Turntable, and most importantly, the arrow shot on the Big Wheel (which was thankfully brought back, albeit for one time only, in 2006). I hope that the new director takes these into consideration and make the show feel just like TPIR once again. As much as I hate to admit this, I'm going to miss Bart, even though his departure from the show wasn't nearly as big a shock as, say, that of Roger Dobkowitz.

And as far as Drew being executive producer is concerned, I've heard nothing that confirms this.

Why doese it seem so foreign to so many of you that regardless of what official title you have, if you're a big name like Drew Carey hosting a show like The Price is Right, you can pretty much get your own way no matter what?

The arrow shot was done on G$M, which was directed by R. Brian DiPirro.

That's what I meant, and obviously, he took a page from Breslow. But it would've been better to have a black background (with green border) behind the arrow instead of the left-side wall on the Wheel.

That I do agree with.  One thing though, if DiPirro is indeed the new director, I hope he doesn't do that zooming out with the jib whenever the wheel is spun, like on G$M, it was too dizzying in my opinion.
