Granted, that may be true. But the final decision has to be with the two men who have who have their names broadcasted each day as the credits roll past. I just get annoyed at every decision that has come down this season being laid at the feet of Drew Carey. Simply because he is the "face" of the show, does not mean he is the sole reason for the events that occur on the screen or behind the scenes. Why isn't Kathy Greco being blamed for anything? Just because she is "old guard", doesn't mean she wouldn't be opposed to changes in the production of the show. It is much too easy to blame Drew for anything and everything that occurs.

There are things that have happened this season that are most likely Fingers's doing.  They are not the things we have blamed on Drew.

Yet, generally speaking, most people seem to want to blame Drew. I feel this is unfair, at least partially.

Sometimes, it is.  Other times, it isn't.

Absolutely. Yet look at the beginning of this string.. its a rumour that Drew fired the director. Not the show as a whole, not the Executive Producer, not the production company. When the s**t flies; its aimed at Drew because as the face of the show he's an easy target, and thats unfortunate.

To those who are saying that Drew couldn't do this...that he can't do this because he's not a producer.  Well, they don't understand that a star of a show does have that power.  Stars have always had that power even if they don't have "producer" in their title.

I for one believe it is very very possible and probably very likely!

Um Chris - isnt that considered a union the DGA?

When you said "he" it was ambiguous whether you meant Bart or R. Brian. If you meant R. Brian, I don't know whether he'd have to be in the Guild or not. He has directed shows for CBS before. If he's not in the Guild and has to be, he can always join.

A "rumour" by someone who only occasionally posts in order to drop these bombshells, which always seem to be correct.

Bart belongs to the Directors' Guild.

Problem is, he's barely qualified to direct TPIR. Who would hire him as a director?

While he certainly wasn't qualified, the fact that he now has several years of TPiR on his resume will undoubtedly get him near the front of the line in a few interviews.

I really don't know how to react.  Since this is almost surely fact, we'll just have to see who we get.

One thing that Bart immediately had over this new person is that he knew the show.  Sure he screwed up every once in a while, and he wasn't Breslow or Alter, but I'd like to think that he did his best.

As far as Drew doing the firing, I wouldn't imagine that he walked up to him and said, "Bart, you're fired".  This switch might have been prompted by him, but he must have been supported by the necessary staff to make the move.

Nobody has mentioned that nanny said that Drew was bringing in somebody new.  Apparently he already has a replacement in mind, and I wouldn't think that R. Brian DiPirro or Felsher are at the top of his list.

It's also imperative to find out when the last Bart-directed episode will air.

Wow I hope this is true!!! I'm sure Bart is a nice guy, but his directing sucked! It wasn't until last season that I thought his directing had gotten better, and he's been director since early Season 29. Were now in Season 37 and he is finally getting better at his job instead of finally getting better in Season 30!

If this is true, THANKS DREW!!!  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Performers always have a big voice in what happens on a production.  You constantly read about changes made in movies and tv shows because the star wasn't happy with a fellow co-star and/or director.    I will wage that Drew is quite happy that new people are now running the show.  He no longer has any "old-timers" around telling him what's best for the show and he has more power.

The only old-timer left is Fingers and I wonder how much longer she will be there!!!

Some of us might not have been happy with Bart, but I fear that the new director will be worse.  How many good game show directors are out there?  For instance, Gameshow Marathon had a director that had no concept on how to direct a gameshow properly.

If they pick him, we are in big trouble.

Think again.

wasnt that from all the post work done from the various ISO's to edit those shows into something coherent?

Unless you were in the booth during the show and present at the post sessions, it's impossible to know what was cut live and what was done in post.

Such as? Does she have much clout aside from putting together shows and casting prizes?

We don't officially know that he's been fired yet. All we have is a rumor at the moment.

If it's true or not, Bart needs to go.  Cutting Drew off camera while he's throwing to commercial and rarely showing the giant pricetag, yeah I say, bye bye, Bart.

I....um....wow.  I'm happy to see Bart go (which is wrong to think, I know), but yet scared for who they might bring in.  Price isn't exactly something like Wheel of Fortune...lots more moving parts.  You have to catch them *all*.

WOW! This is some shocking news to wake up to. I wouldn't feel safe working for TPiR at all right now unless my name was Syd, Rich, Drew, Mike, Lanisha, Rachel, Amber, Gwendolyn, or Brandi. They've already made their model cuts, they're not going to start changing the announcer now, and Mike, Syd & Drew are 100% safe. I predict that by the end of season 38, the entire backstage staff will be different. This is both sad and happy news. Pretty soon no one is going to WANT to work for the show b/c they won't have that job security feeling.
