Streamer HBO Max is now taking a claim in the classic game show market with a revival of Tattletales. NBA star Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha Curry will host.

"Three couples will join Ayesha and Stephen on an exclusive date night to go head-to-head on uncensored relationship trivia and games, competing to see who knows their partner best. As personality quirks and hidden talents are revealed, teams are pushed to their limits with physical challenges. "

So....Tattletales meets Double Dare? Don't know what I feel about that.

Meh.  I'm not sure if I would've bet on someone actually bringing back Tattletales (well, up until the middle part of the last decade).  Someone other than Bert hosting the show isn't precedented.

Nice move to have HBO Max getting dibs on it.  Either way, there is potential for the revival.  I don't see any mention of people getting a chance to "split winnings won over the course of a particular episode" but I don't think it'll kill the show adding something to the show in the form of physical tasks.  It'll be a nice addition to the show, IMO

I think this is the first revival to be hosted by someone that wasn't even born during the original run, but not by much

Stephen Curry most enjoy game shows with physical challenges (he's also involved on Holey Moley).

That read accurate? I ask, only because Tattletales itself was a revival of He Said, She Said that ran from 1969 to 1970 and was hosted by the late Joe Garagiola Sr (and occasionally I am seeing Uncle Bill Cullen when Joe was unavailable due to baseball). So technically, this wouldn't be the first time a version of the show was done without Bert, since Joe did it first.

My feeling is that they'd keep the red, banana and blue audience sections, but using the 'at-home' format. I'm pretty sure they're adding the physical challenges as a way of updating the show with some sort of a bonus round to keep up with today's gameshow revivals. A modernized version of the classic theme would really get me into watching.

One thing I've learned to do with these new game show revivals is to hold my judge until I actually watch the finish product. The physical challenges part is different, but not necessarily bad.

Obviously Steph Curry is a game show fan, so I don't see him trying to add something that he'd think would ruin the format. Looking forward to seeing this!

I don't mind if they do physical stunts. The mention of trivia does make it sound a little misleading. Tattletales is about gossip, not trivia.

It was. What it will be, exactly, remains to be seen.
