Barker Era / Re: Recap for May 17, 2000 (1453K)

I really do hope that the section is split into individual seasons soon, because that will make searching a lot easier.

I think that's a great idea.

When was the last time we had a $1 bid in the showcase? It has happened rarely over the years, but not since January 2016. I had quit watching it for a while when Bob retired when I was 9 going on 10 years old, but started up again in January 2016 and have not seen it since then until tonight.

I don't think I recall it even happening in or around January 2016.  I think we have to go back to 2014 for the last time someone bid $1.

Of course, the January 2016 timeframe might just be based on what you've seen since you started watching again, and not necessarily the last time it took place, as mentioned.  However, during chat, it looks like no dollar showcase bids since Season 42.

TBH it was nice to see it, even though a $20,000 bid has been safe enough for the most part over the past decade

Interesting this was the first special taped but the last one in this set to air

It's actually not -- we still have 074SP coming at some point.

Range Game:  Textbook win using The SteveG Rule

Can you refresh us on this rule?

Yes, I'm pretty curious, myself, given that I've never had a trick for winning Range Game.

FPG -- Friday Prediction Game / FPG 2/23/24 - Solid Gold Rush Edition
« Last post by OneBidTris on Today at 01:38:00 AM »
Why hello, welcome back. While we figure out how much gold we're going to be striking on Thursday, you can start formulating what you think will be popping up Friday. The first three days were all 3rd show tapings, but the last couple seem like they're continuing in line with regular taping schedule. We're looking at two shows both taped 1/18. Because of that, there are a couple potential spoilers in play. If they show up Thursday then we're clear, but otherwise they will be marked as spoilers for Friday, so keep that in mind.

==========

SPOILERS: Two potential tape date spoilers in 1 Right Price and Plinko.

THIS WEEK'S LINEUPS (highlight to view):
2/19/2024 (Monday- 0501L) Grocery (car)/Danger/Push/Seat/Squeeze/Grid

2/21/2024 (Wednesday - 0503L) NoT/Math/Gas/Range/Clock/Path
2/22/2024 (Thursday - 0504L) TBA
2/23/2024 (Friday - 0505L) We're sitting on top of a goldmine.

Can you refresh us on this rule?

When in doubt stop the RangerFinder with the top end of the red area at the halfway point on the range scale.

Barker Era / Re: Recap for May 17, 2000 (1453K)
« Last post by mechamind on Yesterday at 11:25:45 PM »
I think I need to step back from these recaps for a while. I was able to get through this by searching for unusual contestant names, episode months, and other stand-outs using the Search function...but the results lists are getting longer and longer. Even without that problem, I'm feeling a little burned out anyway.

I can share my own list of gray-haired era episodes that have been recapped on the site along with their episode number by private message if anyone else wants to do some recaps but is afraid to post a duplicate. (I still have to add just a few more episode numbers for weeks I haven't explored yet.)

I really do hope that the section is split into individual seasons soon, because that will make searching a lot easier.

When was the last time we had a $1 bid in the showcase? It has happened rarely over the years, but not since January 2016. I had quit watching it for a while when Bob retired when I was 9 going on 10 years old, but started up again in January 2016 and have not seen it since then until tonight.

Interesting this was the first special taped but the last one in this set to air, I wonder why the waited on it.

That might've been the toughest setup I've ever seen in Cliff Hangers. I was not expecting the can opener to be that cheap or the iron to be $50.

I thought St. Lucia was a pretty easy pick in One Wrong Price, it was just too low compared to the other two.

Nice win in Pocket Change, I thought she had the $2.00 envelope on her first envelope the way Drew was talking about her having luck.

Wow, going back almost 30 years with the Then date tonight. It was a little surprising the Pam and not the mac and cheese was the other Then along with the SOS pads. The maid service was a nice add on, but either just offering cash or something to add to the home theater piece of the prize package would've been nicer.

Ouch, that 8 was a killer in Lucky $even. I thought it would be a lower number also.

I was hoping a bit Alison ended up not being over on her Showcase bid since she was such a great contestant, but I wasn't that optimistic. The $1 bid worked out, and we got to see the whole cheer team on the stage at the end.
