The only good thing about today's show was the double prices win, the 26 grand won on big wheel and the other 1000 dollar winner on the big wheel. At least today's show wasn't skunked. Also the only game setup for a win today was squeeze play and double prices was miraculously won. I'm surprised squeeze play Jacob didn't remove the 1.

^Except she didn't put the cheapest item there.

I feel 4 wins was the most that were going to be reached. Money Game wasn't particularly evil, Squeeze Play was fair, and people still can't figure out Macs are expensive.

Switcheroo is just starting to get painful to watch.

I will say that lineups with Pay the Rent in them are improving this year with SP/car games. First with Five Price Tags, now this.

The only good thing about today's show was the double prices win, the 26 grand won on big wheel and the other 1000 dollar winner on the big wheel. At least today's show wasn't skunked. Elskunko, Double Prices was practically a gimme. Ends in 9 + Ends in 9 = Ends in 8.

So Rent goes the first 5 weeks (excluding 5660s) without any hint of it in sight, and now has 3 playings in 5 weeks? What a tease. She sort of played in a weird hybrid way because everyone seemed to overprice the dog food, but the fact is she was trying to put cheapest in the box, so whatever.

The fact is, a show with two broken games at its bookends, and Money having unusually bad, unforced errors, and other evilness elsewhere like in Eazy, won't turn out to be a good show. Drew managed topped it off with his gaffe thinking it was 0/6, which it might as well have been. The double dollar was nice at least.

I expected a 2-prizer after that lineup, but I guess it was super rushed as we bled into 11:47 on the second bonus spin. The fact they've really evolved into using 2-prizers explicitly is disappointing, still.

At least Drew did mention this time around that Pay The Rent is "not necessarily from least expensive to most expensive". Now, he just needs to take out "necessarily".

Yet another contestant wastes a pick on Money Game. And yet another contestant does not understand how Switcheroo works.

Thanks to that $25,000 bonus spin and winning a $37,000+ showcase, Jacob's total winnings are actually higher than yesterday's DSW total. Nice to see someone come out with a big win from an otherwise lackluster show...

Best Contestant: Jacob. for winning 26k and the showcase.

Worst Contestant: Marianito, playing Switcheroo horrible.

Once again, the PTR, the cheapest item is NOT the way to go.

Ugh, Sigh, I hate when people say this...First of all, the dog food was the cheapest. She clearly knew the dog food was the cheapest, too.

Honestly, just because she picked the plates doesn't mean she thought they were cheap. I even myself put them at 2.99...

Lest we not forget this? (http://www.golden-road.net/index.php/topic,16607.0.html)

Best Contestant: Jacob. for winning 26k and the showcase.

Worst Contestant: Marianito, playing Switcheroo horrible.

Why do you even bother with this? Is it any surprise that day after day you pick the person who wins the most as the best and the person who fails the most as the worst?

I liked today overall, despite it being a Rent day. Drew, as usual, was variable in mood, but at an acceptable level today. That is, save for that awful blunder about there being no winners in SCSD; this was inexcusable.

However, on the bright side, Drew actually explained Rent pretty well, and a whole hell of a lot better than he usually does. Sadly, Kristine wasn't the sharpest crayon and put the lowest item first. Again. Until someone who is a LFaT somehow manage to play this game, this is the snafu we'll be in. Don't mention Veteran's Day last season, please- I'm sure he thought the same bad strategy was the one to use.

Edit: Meh culpa, the dog food was lower, but I still think Kristine thought it was the lowest of the GPs.

Money Game: Drew was very blah here, as usual. Once again, I have no idea if the money rule still remains in this game. I'd like to think so, but this falls under a similar gray area to me that Switcheroo and leaving the numbers alone does (more on that later). Some of Crystal's picks here were inexcusable, namely the 54, 19, and 78. None of those even remotely make sense.

Squeeze Play: Yay, Montreal! Too bad George had to go over the top with a accent, and a bad one at that when this was introduced. As I could tell you personally, it's not cheap to live there; that and junior suite would tell me it's the most expensive of our 3 options, so it had to be $7,826. $7,816 doesn't look right, and the 8 was obviously the 2nd digit, given the average (non-sexed up) trip on Price these days is just over $8,000. Poor playing, and Drew was unmemorable but not focusing too much on the coats, thankfully.

SCSD1: I'd ask for a touch more animation in Drew for the $1 Bonus Spin, but given Drew's standard this was about what we, the viewers could hope for. Very exciting for me, nonetheless; I thought giving Jacob's spin power there was no way he'd get any additional money from the wheel.

Eazy: Yay, Gaston got up. Drew hinted as much with his close bids the last 2 rounds, but I think he was a LFaT. Drew had a solid explanation here, nothing special. I also thought he was right with 3-2-1, even with the Macbook Pro, I thought that Washer set was the upper $3,000ish one. I found it interesting that he placed the 3 block first, rarely do contestants go out of order placing these blocks, at least, when I've been watching.

Double Prices: By far my favorite part of the show. Not only was Martha pretty smart, and saved the show, but Drew was fantastic at the end of the segment. He made a reference (I'm not sure if intentional) to Barker saying, "A winnah!" Pretty awesome, I must say.

'Roo: Slot win, lineup win. Not perfect, but pretty darn good; this last really helped. Marianito was extremely annoying to see stumble through this game. As Drew put it, he was focusing way too much on the SPs. Yes, you should care about the SPs since you then use process of elimination, but he was messing with 2 SPs that really wouldn't have helped him.

Drew irked me again about his hosting of this game; he needs to remind the player (even if the choice to correct is blatantly obvious, like today) that they do not have to go again or switch any numbers. Same problem in the second trail; too much focus on SPs, with maybe 5 moves of those, and 1 of the car. He must have really liked that Pasta Maker, or hated the car.

SCSD: Yay, more money; and it goes to a good player.

SCs: Overall, what a Mikey day; 3 overall trips AND a 2 prizer. Pathetic. Once again, very mediocre reveal by Drew, acts like he couldn't care less, though he showed some decent excitement when stating Jacob's total.

SC1, I have no damn idea what they were doing here. A boring 2-prizer, which went by way too fast, had the car at that new angle platform that I hate. If Jordan is right that this was under 60 seconds, that just shows the incompetence of this staff, in case anyone was wondering.

SC2: More sexed up trips, with designer furniture. I swear Mike is doing this just to spite GR. This had no connection, and needed better writing. Frankly, I would much rather see a LONG overdue Splendido showcase in its place. While I'm usually opposed to the sex-ups in SCs; this one is no exception, but I must say, the jet pack excursion looked pretty darn awesome, I must say.  :)

You know, I should compliment Adam for having his most creative Pay The Rent lineup yet - it makes life better to see SP/cars with it, it's even more fun when they're 6th, and it's better yet when we get another decent game like Eazy as 123 thrown in. That being said, Pay The Rent has been broken since the day it was created, and Switcheroo is ridiculously broken now (another purpose low setup), and that's never going to lead to a good show. Today was probably going to top out at 2/6.

I'm unsure why Eazy as 123 has seemingly been lost 47 times in a row. Today was probably the easiest it's been in awhile, and it was still bungled.

Timings:
Pay The Rent (7) - 6:15
Money Game (4.5) - 3:44
Squeeze Play (3.5) - 3:01
Eazy as 123 (4) - 4:07
Double Prices (3) - 3:09
Switcheroo (5.5) - 5:01
Total (27.5): 26:17

Kristin actually had the same Pay the Rent configuration that I had.  But once I saw that I overestimated the plates by a dollar and underestimated the potatoes by a dollar, I knew that my configuration was wrong.  Yet again.

Woohoo!  Another $26,000 winner!

Once again, none of the SPs in Switcheroo looked as if they were under $20, so I immediately put the 1 on the car.  I can understand why the average contestant would think that puny pouch would be only $12, but the fact that it was a designer-label pouch was a clue that it wasn't $12.  I don't necessarily expect an average contestant to use logic in this game, but I still hold out hope that one will.  Contestants are finally starting to figure out Ten Chances again, so you never know.

SC #1... shortest showcase ever?  Good Lord, even those one-prize, private-jet showcases lasted longer than today's first showcase!  That ain't right!

My showcase bids:
Quickie--$30,107
Spain--$25,107

Pay the Rent isn't nearly as annoying when Drew gives away the deceitful part.  It at least seemed today like it might be winnable.

Seeing Switcheroo last was a hell of a surprise.

Did anybody catch Drew inadvertently saying "Big Wheel" during the second Showcase Showdown?

A freakin' jetpack?  Seriously?

When "Double Prices" is the highlight of the show... :-(

How quickly we forget the $26,000 win on the Big Wheel.

This is the first time that I've ever nailed the correct combination for PtR!  My hunch that the plates were not the cheapest item in the game was also right.  Too bad that didn't help Kristine any.

Money Game was its usual random self.  73, 62, 83, and 54 all looked like reasonable choices for the last two numbers (19 certainly didn't).

Squeeze Play was also a random guess, and it was the only game that I would have flat-out lost today.

What a great $26,000 win on the wheel to offset an otherwise lackluster first half!

I did a facepalm when Gaston put #3 on the Washer/Dryer.  I think just about everyone on this site knows by now that the MacBook Pro is big bucks.

Thank Heavens Martha won Double Prices!  That was an easy setup, incidentally.

I agree with Fireball in that there was no way that any of the four small prizes could have been under $20.  Marianito, on the other hand, appeared to have no idea what he was doing.

My Showcase Bids:
Caribbean/Jeep: $29,339 ($8,084)
Malaysia/Spain: $25,115 (OVER)

Hello, Overbidders Anonymous, this is TPIRSteven...

Pay the Rent - Tough setup as usual.  Can't see an end to this anytime soon.  I understand that they don't want a shot at $100,000 to be easy but being too difficult isn't going to help game popularity.

Money Game - No El Cheapo this time, but she partially sealed her fate with the pick of 19 after already finding the first pair, and by picking two number pairs that are seen on the board quite often (54, 78).

Squeeze Play - Typical loss for the game.  Not easy but not too difficult either.

Eazy as 1 2 3 - Umm, no.  Non-LFaTs would probably be split between the washer/dryer and Mac package.  And if they did choose the Mac for highest-price, it would probably be more linked to underpricing the appliances than thinking the computer is expensive.

Double Prices - Easy win.

Switcheroo - Painful.  It was setup for a win (none of those SPs looked like they were less than $20, therefore leaving the 1 for the car) but Marianito, like most Switcheroo players, are too caught up with the SPs and not the car.  I wouldn't blame the clock on this either; in earlier playings, players usually take only 20 seconds to set the numbers, and the results are just as dismal, even with the excess time left.

Eazy as 1 2 3 - Umm, no.  Non-LFaTs would probably be split between the washer/dryer and Mac package.  And if they did choose the Mac for highest-price, it would probably be more linked to underpricing the appliances than thinking the computer is expensive.

I thought the appliances could've been somewhat pricey, but I will most of the time, unless it's very much the contrary, place a Macintosh as being more expensive than appliances (which is why I dislike Macintosh computers and hate using them). I have seen several losses by contestants who don't know anything about prices of electronics, especially something like a computer.

Incidentally, go Windows!

Pay the Rent - Tough setup as usual. Can't see an end to this anytime soon. I understand that they don't want a shot at $100,000 to be easy
Wrong. They do not want a shot at $100,000 at all.

but being too difficult isn't going to help game popularity.
I get the feeling that they do not care how popular it may or may not be.

You're right, but that's still not enough, IMO, to save an entire show, no?

It does not matter if it saves a show or not, it's still the highlight of the show, not Double Prices...

I already said Steve was right.  It may not matter to you, but I was stating my opinion, not yours.  To reiterate: 1. The money given away during the SCSD's was the highlight of the show.  2. Giving away money during SCSD's while only one pricing game is won does not a great show make.

Well next time you want to state your opinion, don't make it in the form of a question. It sure sounded like you were asking if what you said was right or not....

Yes, I was asking whether or not a couple of one-dollar spins could save a show, not whether the question mattered or not.

It's theoretically possible, though unlikely, that PtR could be structured with the cheapest item in the mailbox, depending on the prices of the items used, so "not necessarily" is the accurate way to explain it. But giving advice or specific help in the game is not an S&P violation as long as it's done consistently - that is, every contestant gets told the same thing when they play. Of course, Drew's so inconsistent in the way he explains games from one playing to the next that that would be unlikely.

Pretty blah show overall except for the win on Double Prices & the $26,000 win on SCSD#1, IMHO.

Hello, it's me, Martha... the winner of the Vespa motor scooters from this show  :-D  Due to an unfortunate sequence of events, I no longer have my beloved recording of my episode documenting my win. Would anyone in this forum be able to help me figure out where I would be able to score a copy of this episode?? I appreciate it!!!
