FPG -- Friday Prediction Game / RPG 3/28/24 - It's Me, Hi Edition (SLEEPER SIX!)
« Last post by OneBidTris on March 27, 2024, 10:45:44 AM »
Hello there. It's a weird feeling being so close to shows I'm excited for you all to see; April Fools' Day on the 1st and some fabulous times on the 2nd. This week, because Friday taped the same day as April Fools' Day, we've got enough spoilers to rain that game out (those games being Safe Crackers, Most Expensive and Dice Game). Fret not however, we're still running a game this week. And since we haven't done one of these in a hot minute, it's time for a Sleeper Six!

Sleeper Six games allow you to make two lineups with 12 unique games. You make them like you would normally, with results and a play-along pick, it's just a second lineup to work with. Please do not repeat any games, they won't count if they're on both of your lineups.

It may be a lot of work for you (and me), but it helps give you some breathing room with some missing games. Good luck and I await seeing what lineups you all make.

==========

SPOILERS: Just those three games we have on Friday.

THIS WEEK'S LINEUPS (highlight to view):
3/25/2024 (Monday- 0551L) Punch/Bar/Grid/Clock/CoG/Deck
3/26/2024 (Tuesday - 0552L) Side/Bee/T2/Grocery/L7/DX
3/27/2024 (Wednesday - 0553L) TTM/1RP/Penny/Range/A#/X
3/28/2024 (Thursday - 0554L) Am I the hero of this story?
3/29/2024 (Friday - 0555L) Some combo of Safe/ME/Dice

I didn't even link other members like camera operators, for instance.

Camera operators are probably either NABET or IBEW members. I wouldn't know which union reps Haven, but I do know CBS' camera ops (and other tech personnel) were IBEW.

I have less of an issue with it in games where the price does not matter (Spelling Bee, Let 'Em Roll, Hole in One, etc). The average viewer is not listening that closely and it passes by quickly versus having it in your face as the focus of a pricing game.

The TALK Is Right / Re: Showcase Showdown third-player advancement question

A non-Price example, but it works: Only now that time constraints have finally caught up with the current version of Family Feud is there not always an explanation of the rules to Fast Money (and the forced exclamation of "twenty thousand dollars!" by the first player).  For decades, though, there seemed to be the need to always explain the rules in full every episode (and let's not forget all the time with wasted applause and a music sting when returning from the commercial break before we even get to this point).  Oftentimes on Dawson Feud, the beginning to Fast Money was a fade in from black with Dawson saying, "fifteen seconds, please".  Ding, the clock would come up and, boom, Dawson would be into the first question.

Also outside of TPIR: on Tic Tac Dough w/Wink Martindale, it seemed that after a while, many of the players knew how to play the game (get three Xs or three Os in a row vertically, horizontally, or diagonally; outside boxes were $200 to the pot, and the center two-parters were worth $300), such that, even at the top of the show, Wink would turn the players' attention to the subjects at hand for the upcoming round, and dispense with the formal rules spiel (especially if a new player had just come in, and all that was left before close of business on the last show was some light banter).

He did, however, IIRC, pretty much every time the bonus game (Beat the Dragon) was played, still maintain the formal spiel (get $1000 or more, or get Tic and Tac, before hitting the Dragon, and getting Tic and Tac got the Dough [was an auto-win], outside of that one brief time in 1983 where one had to hit the grand right on the nose, and an excess meant you had to get Tic and Tac to win).

I don’t understand what the big deal is with having two cars under $20,000 - it’s a chance at a new car.

Look, I get it. Price has a budget. The show seriously shouldn't have any cars <$20,000, let alone 2. There's absolutely no excuse for BOTH of them to appear in the same show.
They need to get the average one-bid and SC ARP down. This is the second year in a row I think there were no sub-20k cars in the first half of the season, then the second half spammed them. (You could also limit the offering of 30k+ cars.)

T2 was played horrifically today, not sure what she was thinking on that second try.

GRECO! / Re: GRECO!6 Week 13: 3/25 - 3/29

The 4Ps were a tough call this week, as Danger is most due but T2 & Swap weren't so far behind, and T2 took first (only?) blood there. GP & SP were very expected, Cross was also getting due as well - so no real curveballs today. Pikachu was the only one to put it all together for a 6/6, but first GRECO is still up for grabs.

A really cheap DR trip led to an almost Big One, despite the 8k massage chair leaving barely any overs on the other. Phat with his trusty -504 DSW and I (best raw) cash.

Last thread, it was brought up that editors are part of the IATSE also, so even if a show is taped, it can't get edited during a strike.

Pulling up a random episode, 2/29/2024, credited are supervising editor, Frank Le Nguyen, editors Jennifer M. Fah-Vayhinger, La-Aja Hernandez, Nicole M. Katz, and Dan Paek, along with assistant editors Matthew Lannin, Richard Armstrong, and Emily Grimmer.

Notice how all of them are listed as members of Local 700, and that's just one part of production; I didn't even link other members like camera operators, for instance. So, yes, IATSE shutting down means the show can't produce more episodes.

I don't mean to break the subject slightly, but I would honestly be surprised if this strike occurs and affects TPIR...MAINLY because I never knew anyone of the IATSE works for the show (only because we don't see that emblem at the end of the show, or what not)...so unless if someone affiliated with IATSE works for the show, I honestly don't see how TPIR would be affected...could there be any clarification about this?
