Well, for all those who were wondering when, or if, TPIR Season 38 would have a Double Showcase Winner, here you are. This was well worth the wait, after so many near misses this season.

Appropriate showcase prizes today, along with a pretty faithful Irish accent (Rich throwing his voice) for the Ireland trip.

FINALLY! I thought we were going to have a season without a DSW, but I was proven wrong today! I bet it's not the first time that a DSW has happened on a holiday!

About time someone finally got a DSW. And how appropriate that it happened on St. Patrick's Day! Luck of the Irish was certainly with Kendra today.

...where were the "Irish-themed prizes" that were supposed to show up? Besides the Showcases and one of the GPs in Pass the Buck, I didn't really see any.

FINALLY, A DSW AT LONG LAST!!! :-D

Aside from one episode in Season 32, I don't remember the showcase contestants "hoping" with each other like that during the price reveal.  I loved that, and it wound up being made all the better with a double showcase winning coming from it!

I don't get to say it often, but Bonus Game was actually set up better than Roger usually did it (when he wanted a win, at least).  There was a really good chance that only one SP was going to be won, which would've just made for an amazing comeback since the one really easy SP had the bonus.

I also can't help but wonder if it was just a fluke that it was set up well.

Looks like Clock Game received a fresh coat of paint. I had to look twice, because on my HDTV; it almost looked as if the numbers were raised off the clock face. Too bad he played it so poorly.

And I was in class for it, oh well. Hopefully someone can post the video on youtube later on (not CBS, as I can't see those in Canada...)

Full thoughts are as follows:

L7: Seemed like a fair price, though I also got tripped up by the 9 in the third digit.
PA#: I thought 7441, thinking a doubles trick. I missed this one as well.
Bonus: Nice playing from the contestant. I personally had the 2nd and 4th windows won.
Range: ALL of us in the chat knew the price. If that was the million dollar game, CBS would have been broke.  :P
Pass: Hard to argue with 5K.
Clock: Tough prizes. I don't think I would have gotten both items.
Showcases: Drew Carey seemed to invoke Pat Sajak VERY well for that double showcase win reveal. I think it worked.

Nice way to end this shortened week of price if you ask me.

Lucky Seven:  Rats! :-(
Pick A Number:  6 and 8 both looked good, but I would've been shocked if the missing number would've been 4.
Bonus Game:  Pretty nice win! :-)  Boy, the price of those KitchenAid stand mixers sure went up - I only paid $160-something for mine!
SCSD#1:  I thought for sure the wheel was gonna get stopped on the $1.00 on Jennifer's bonus spin, but $10,000 is great, too. :-)
Range Game:  Arrgh!  So close, and yet, so far away!
Pass The Buck:  $5,000 is not bad at all!
Clock Game:  Horribly played! :-(
Showcases:  FINALLY!!  A DOUBLE SHOWCASE WINNER!!   I was beginning to think we were gonna go a whole season without one!  Drew did a nice job with the reveal too!

Good show for only having one winner, IMHO.

L7: I needed Lucky Eight. Tricky to Joe Plinko, LFaT should have had a puncher's chance.
PA#: Blindly guessed eight.
Bonus: Definetly thought the BONUS was the mixer. Kudos on the set up.
SS1: Fine work by Jennifer
Range: And the entire board screams $7998, followed by NOOO!
PtB: It's $5,000 and not shaped like a breadbox.
CG: Ya know, Clock Game and Bonus Game on the same show warms the old heart. Don't know why; it just does. And the $200 dinnerware is always used when the $89 dinnerware isn't good enough.
And an excellent bid for the first DSW makes for a good show.

Be safe out there tonight!

Kudos to Kendra for the DSW!

That same Kitchen Aid mixer was a game show staple in the mid-late 80s. A yellow version of it was worth $469 on LMAD back then.

Yup. Stand mixers are über expensive. My wife keeps bugging me to buy her one everytime she sees one. It isn't just a hand mixer !!

It happened in an MDS during Drew's first season... I believe it was the show with the first-ever million-dollar win.

I think Drew did a fantastic job of hosting today.  He had a lot of pep in his step.

Except for his showcase reveal, I have to disagree. I thought he was too manic at times, especially during Bonus Game, which he is still not good at explaining. But it was good to see both it and Pass The Buck (two of my favorites) on the same show.

Congrats to Kendra! :)

I never thought we'd see a DSW again. Today's was way overdue!!!

I was a little disappointed with Rich DiPirro today. Why couldn't he have used the classic Bonus Game shot as it was coming around on the turntable?

On the other hand...Bonus Game and Clock Game on the same show was nice. The two games that have the classic box shape.

FINALLY! I thought we were going to have a season without a DSW, but I was proven wrong today! I bet it's not the first time that a DSW has happened on a holiday!

It's not an official holiday, but the last time I remember it was either Season 33 or 34 where someone was a DSW on the Christmas Eve episode.

I thought today was a fantastic episode for the most part.

Lucky 7- tough luck

Pick-a-number- I figured it was between the 6 or the 8. The 4 just didn't look right

Bonus Game- Despite the first 3 prizes being really difficult, it was nice to see that this was actually a forced win!

Clock Game- Surprisingly he at least got the heat lamps. This guy really needed to get some lessons from our own Clockgamejohn on how to play Clock Game!

Showcases- This comment is actually for Drew. Drew you did a kickass job on that reveal! The only two thoughts running through my head when you did the reveal was "OH NO! she either went over or it was a lot more ridiculously expensive then she thought". And thankfully it was neither.  I will say that Kendra cleaned house pretty nicely too!

Boy, there were chunks of this show that Drew just hosted badly.  He joked last year that he was "drunk already" at the start of the episode...I think maybe he should have saved that comment for today.

Why did Drew comment on the "luck of the Irish" after Pick-a-Number when they hadn't won any games yet?

I wonder if so many green games were played today on purpose...Pick-a-Number, Range Game, and Pass the Buck are all awash in it, and Clock Game used to be green.

Speaking of Clock Game, I wonder if all those asterisks are permanent or if they were just put there for St. Patrick's Day.  I can't decide whether I like them or not.

Still speaking of Clock Game, Clinton didn't play it well at all.  He wasn't using any kind of pattern whatsoever.

I don't know what the hell Rich was trying to sound like in the second showcase, but it sure as hell wasn't an Irishman.  Actually, it sounded more like a bad imitation of someone from the Middle East.

I still can't believe there was a double showcase win.  That was just...amazing.

I agree with Steve on Drew's hosting. He was really sporadic today and not as good as the past two days IMO.

Surprised they didn't play Golden Road...but I guess that's because we saw Triple Play.

Bonus Game I thought was easy.. I would have gotten the kettle wrong.

Range Game for two prizes again? At least it a pair of the same prize.

Clock Game was played horribly. Sad too. I kind of like the asterisks. Different IMO.

And Drew did really well on that DSW reveal! A lot better than yesterday's DOB.

What sort of luck brings about 1,000 years of invasion, colonization, exploitation, starvation and mass emigration?

Steve, I was thinking the same thing today as I was watching. To me, Lucky Seven and Bonus Game were good games to play today if they were following a "theme" like that. "Bonus", "Lucky"..... interesting thought. Too bad Golden Road wasn't played since I always thought the rainbow at the final prize was like the contestant's pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Wow, a DSW! I forgot what one of those looked like! That was awesome - knew it was only a matter of time. And on that note, odd but nice to see almost $100k worth of winnings on a 1-for-6 show. Lots of Irish luck on the wheel and in the showcases today - too bad we couldn't get more in the pricing games.

The 2nd showcase might have been mildly effective if that were anything close to an Irish accent, but as it was it was awkward. The Irish jig during the 2nd showcase showdown, on the other hand, was fairly entertaining and a good lead in to the plug on priceisright.com similar to the a capella group from a couple weeks ago - I just hope they don't start overdoing these lead-ins and keep them to once every couple weeks at most. Drew's transition to it from the showdown was very awkward, though.

The whole DSW thing actually leaves me feeling satisfied heading into the break.....

Timings:
Lucky $even (4.5) - 3:22
Pick A Number (3.5) - 2:45
Bonus Game (5.5) - 5:10
Range Game (4) - 3:05
Pass The Buck (5.5) - 4:59
Clock Game (4.5) - 4:42
Total time (27.5): 24:03

A pair of dirt bikes/motorcycles used to be a somewhat common prize for one-prize games.  No one ever complained before, so I'm assuming it's just not very noteworthy.

First off, I was a little pissed because niether Any Number nor Temptation made their big appearences today (or this week) but I was glad to see my all-time favorite game, and a  :dsw:. Bonus Game and Clock Game looked a little different today. I think most of us noticed Clock Game's asterisks on the green, but Bonus Game's black area around the arrows looked somewhat reddish today. I don't know if that was a paint job or maybe just a reflection.

As an aside complaint, EVERY SINGLE SPRING BREAK, one of the only times I get off from school to watch TPIR, only 3 episodes are aired on the week. I don't care about reruns.

I don't if this was part of it, but the upper portion of the turntable where the flashing squares are wasn't well-lit for some reason.

All of the small prizes offered in Bonus Game were also green in colour.

The dinnerware in Clock Game also had a green pattern (but that probably wasn't intentional).

Not sure how Lucky $even fits in with the green theme, though.

So what's your point? ??? FWIW, I was surprised that Golden Road (for the "pot at the end of the rainbow," something tied to leprechauns) wasn't played today. Oh, well.

I don't know what the hell Rich was trying to sound like in the second showcase, but it sure as hell wasn't an Irishman.  Actually, it sounded more like a bad imitation of someone from the Middle East.

Your opinion only. I actually thought Rich was quite good (at least when I first heard it).

A pair of dirt bikes/motorcycles used to be a somewhat common prize for one-prize games.  No one ever complained before, so I'm assuming it's just not very noteworthy.

I spose you're right Army. I remember seeing pairs of the same prize every so often for one-prize games. I guess I got used to seeing multiple different prizes being played for.

I don't if this was part of it, but the upper portion of the turntable where the flashing squares are wasn't well-lit for some reason.
perhaps it's due to the shadow of the doorframe

But still it was a lot darker than usual.

Yeah, that's not really a problem...when they're the same prize, all you have to do to figure out the price of both of them is figure out the price of one of them.

So what's your point? ???

Please tell me you're joking.

St. Patrick's Day, dude.

Not sure how Lucky $even fits in with the green theme, though.

$even lucky green dollar bills!  :-D

I'm surprised Grand Game wasn't played, with its green set as well as lots of greenback being offered.

The DSW graphic looks a bit too plain, compared to the checkers and asterisks one of yesteryear.

More importantly, all you have to do to figure out the price of one of them is figure out the price of both of them.  :)

I thought Rich's Irish accent sounded awful (and I like Rich). Like someboday wrote, it sounded like he was trying to do Middle Eastern.

I notice that Drew is very protective of the contestants when they get booed for spinning at least one full revolution on the wheel. He was really trying to cut off the booing when Aneela was getting booed.

Well, the result of this episode clarified that thread about preferring a DSW or a perfect show for me. The ending was so great, I think I would have really enjoyed it without the pricing game win or the money won on the big wheel.

No, I wasn't joking. If the point was that the sets were all green (in full or with accents only), then I didn't see what the cohesive theme was. It's a "so what" to me.

The one thing that did disappoint me was there weren't more Irish/St. Patrick's themed prizes. Yeah, there's probably only so much, but they could have had Lucky Charms cereal (for instance) in Pass the Buck.

For those who thought negatively of Rich's Irish-accent, then what's the alternative? Hornswoggle from the WWE? "Yeah, you'd probably really like that idea," Brian said with a sarcastic tone.

I think if he couldn't get it up to a certain level, then it would be better just not to do an Irish accent at all. Again, I like the current cast. I generally like what Rich. But his Irish accent was awkward, I winced while listening to it. Maybe it would have been easier to do it if he toned the usual announcer exuberance.

Not doing an accent.

Not doing an accent.

If what you're saying is, "Do it straight," then I appreciate your answers.

In all honesty, though, it wouldn't have mattered to me had he done it straight or he tried to be an Irishman.

I agree completely.  As I was watching the show, I kept expecting it to show (until PtB showed up).  When I think "Green Games"...Grand Game is what comes to mind first.
