Title: 2 for the price of 1!
Post by: bhvictory on May 16, 2006, 09:53:00 AM
News concerning the UK TPiR.  From next Monday (22 May) ITV1 will be screening 2 episodes back-to-back between 5pm and 6pm (according to TV listings magazines), which I think is great as it will be more like it used to be here in the UK when the show was 1hr.  It's proving a UK success all over again!

It's on an hour all next week, but I can't say whether it will be a permanent thing or not.

If it is permmant id rather them pool their resources and tape it as an hour US format.

Easily done and cost exactly the same to tape but showcases are always won.

There going to have to get rid of the single showcase and have a two player showcase

The US 1hr format, which is, of course, how the UK version began 22 years ago.  And what's more, there's no IBA this time, so there's a very good chance of this happening.

Bloody schedulers.  They scrapped the double bill of TPiR and decided to stick on one of their occasional Coronation Street specials instead.

It's billed as 1hr again in next weeks TV magazines.  Let's hope they keep their promise this time.

Well at this early stage I'm guessing it will be either the showcase from the Crowther era or be like the last one used in Australia.

2 person spin off after the 2nd showcase showdown, only one spin lead to the British style showcase

About £10,000 extra in value during the hour long test.

Also rather unusual, after the 1st Showcase Showdown they got rid of the 3 players in contestants row from the 1st half of the show and got 4 new players.

It says "NEW" in the TV Times listing, but in the past they have been known to say "NEW" for a series of repeat screenings, with Catchphrase repeats a couple of years ago as I remember.
