Title: CSS Results for 10/10/2017 (Game 16)
Post by: Wayoshi on October 10, 2017, 01:30:18 PM
Today was one of those days where you could see what the producers were aiming for... relatively cheap ARP for a boat and car (a legit boat, not just a jet ski, and a car in the same SC!!), looking for an over so the insane 25k motorcycle thingy was won and probably declined later.Yeah, that Slingshot whatever starts at $19,999 and had options... and the trips together may have been 20k as well. There is some cash to be made this week, it seems...

SuperSweeper had a fantastic today considering these SCs, and would have hard/softed if not for Archviler. I must call someone out though... Hag... that was not a Lexus even though it looked like half of one. :P

Hi all,

Question concerning the awarding of cash today.

According to the CCS Rules & Procedures:

“The “day's winner” is the player with the highest point score, which represents a percentage of the player's bids against the ARP of both showcases without going over.

At 198.43, the day’s winner is SuperSweeper.

Further,

“For each showcase, there will be a designated "showcase winner", who will receive the ARP cash value of that showcase added to their money score. The "showcase winner" is the player who has the highest acceptable bid on each showcase—without going over on the other. Just like with the points scoring, nobody who goes over has the opportunity to win money.”

According to the above definition, with a difference of $523, SuperSweeper was the “showcase winner” of Showcase #1.

According to the same definition, Archviler and priac, each with a difference of $79, tied for “showcase winner” of Showcase #2.

More from the rules:
“If the showcase winner on any one showcase has bid within $250 of the ARP of the showcase they won, they will receive the cash value for both showcases.”

“If one player should have the best difference on both showcases, and each bid is within $250 of the ARP of their respective showcases, they shall be awarded double the cash value of both showcases.”

I believe this is also the definition of a QSW?

The player with the “best difference” on Showcase 1, as already mentioned, was SuperSweeper.  The player with the “best difference” on Showcase 2, as already mentioned was a tie b/w Archviler and priac.

Therefore, Archviler was awarded double points for having a DSW on Showcase 2, and received the cash value of Showcase one as the one with the best bid, although not a DSW bid, for Showcase 1.

Also, SuperSweeper was (correctly) awarded double points for having DSW on Showcase 2 and received double cash for having (tying) lowest differences with DSW territory (250 or under)

Questions: Why then did I with a tied low difference of $79 receive double points, but not receive the cash value of both showcases?

I checked and rechecked the rules, and cannot find anything that would preclude me from receiving double cash, as was afforded Archviler, since we both had the exact same difference of $79.

Granted, Archviler’s Total Difference of both showcases was less than mine.  But I find nothing in the rules that state Total Difference serves as a tie breaker in this scenario.

FOrgive me if I’m missing something in the stated rules that I am missing.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

It's long been established that, in the case of a tie, the person with the better difference on the other showcase is declared the showcase winner and is awarded the cash. Been that way for 13 years.

The rulesheet has been changed so many times over the years that it's entirely possible that something got accidentally struck somewhere, and was an oversight for so long because nobody brought it up.

I'd been wondering about that myself, priac.

Good to have an answer and yeah, if it's not in the rules, adding it back in would be awesome.

Yes, it should be added for sure.  Especially for some of us who haven’t been playing for CSS for 13 years.   Great bidding btw!   :). Cheers.

That would be cheating, and you would be banned.
