Lineup:

Let em Roll: L

Coming or Going: L

1 Right Price: W

Balance Game: W

That's too overly played much: L

Swap Meet: L (Very evil prices)

The whole show was a mess. Mike wanted a 2/6 today.

Talk about cheapo prizes in Swap Meet. That fireplace is the same as a laptop?

Seriously, what was that whole showcase about? Not all of them couldn't even dance.

Quick recap:

Let 'em Roll: L ($1,500)
Coming or Going: L
1 Right Price: W
Balance Game: W
That's Too Much!: L
Swap Meet: L

Showcases: Some stupid group of dancers who can't even dance well. Two trips and a Cadillac CTS in the first (which was won), three trips in the second, and a bonus trip, all to see this group. THREE OF THEM WERE TO THE SAME FREAKIN' PLACE (Las Vegas, one LV trip in each showcase, and the bonus trip.)

Gameshowboy, you finished right before I did. Darn, now I feel silly.

This show was craptacular.

Yay Fingers! Good to see her again. :-)

The whole thing with Angela was definitely a flashback to the Bob era... I enjoyed that. Good for Drew for milking it like Bob would have. :-D

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY: David
SHOW GRADE: 2

First time I watched the show since April Fool's.

Lineup: Meh. Same old I remember. Swap almost seemed to be set up for a win----how could a tablet PC even come close to an LCD HDTV in price?

Showcases: Yeah, what was up?

Mainly watched to examine the directing. Glenn Koch seemed to be playing it safe, running from DiPirro's playbook. Not as smooth, but it is his first aired [and first taped?] show.

Nice to see Fingers [and Frank] in the audience!

Another set of special guests, another short lineup, another show really doomed to fail. Tis a shame.

It's pathetic the budget is so bad Roll is still being set up in this fashion for cheapo cars (on the same show a Cadillac is left wide open, because yes Mike, those trips looked more than 20k without the cash). Just pathetic. Swap was also a bit too evil for the minimum 4k.

I've given up on trying to tell Mike we don't want to watch interpretive dancing, but... who thought offering Las Vegas twice was a good idea??

As evil as the prices in Swap Meet were, I knew she wasn't winning the moment she picked the designer crap first. The designer crap is never first in that game. In fact, even with the evil prices, I got the order dead on.

Coming Or Going:  Rats! :-(
1 Right Price, Balance Game:  Nice job! :-)
That's Too Much:  Ho hum.
Swap Meet:  Bummer! :-(

An "ehh" show overall, IMHO.

Well then, I guess that proves some people's questions to whether Kathy left on her own accord or not. I doubt if she was fired, she would want to come back and sit in the audience.

And what a crappy day to choose to come and watch the show!

I honestly can't see why this Casey Anthony garbage can't wait until the noon news.  Whether it's even newsworthy to begin with is actually a legitimate question in my mind.

On the other hand, today's show probably wasn't worth seeing, anyway.

I didn't think Swap Meet was evil at all.  It was nice to see Kathy Greco, and the contestant running on stage when her name was called was funny.  Strange Showcases.  Those creepy guys in the second one making strange faces while crowding around a monitor?  Whoa.  Nice CTS in the Elvis one, though.

Do you think this trial is worthy of preempting TPIR for?

I would say, in Florida, yes.  This is a local story that has gotten tons of national attention for nearly three years.

Does my tone sound like I think it's worthy of preempting TPiR? No trial is that important that it should interrupt regularly-scheduled programming for its entire length. Not even the OJ trial was that important.

What a mess of a show today. I am beginning to think no matter how much we talk they won't listen, so I just want to say as the show continues to move this direction it becomes more and more difficult for me to watch. I hate having lineups cut way short just for superlong circus appearances. No one tunes into The Price Is Right to see a circus act, although ironically it is becoming one. I have no doubt the guests are very talented at what they do, I just continue not to see the point of it on TPIR. And then there are things that just defy common sense, like having two trips to Las Vegas in one showcase. This was really one to forget.

It WAS nice to see two perfect bids in one show, and to have a Greco sighting. Other than that, lineups like today's (not to mention setting up LER for only 2 rolls) just ensures there won't be much to remember.

Timings:
Let 'em Roll (5.5)- 4:26
Coming Or Going (3.5)- 3:23
One Right Price (3.5)- 3:47
Balance Game (4) - 3:28
That's Too Much! (5)- 3:27
Swap Meet (4.5) - 4:25
Total (26): 22:56 (sad)

Kathy and Frank Greco were in the audience, the Big Green Egg returned, there were two perfect one-bids, Swap Meet was played 6th, and a Cadillac was won in the showcase.  Those were the only highlights of the show today.  Just a typical episode.

My showcase bids:
Cadillac--$50,107
Trips--$22,107

A question for the forum moderator: Are any discussions on Florida pre-emptions on the Casey Anthony trial more appropriate for "Out in Left Field"?

Only Drew and Mike could manage to make Cirque du Soleil less interesting than Fingers.

Seriously, what was the point of all that?  The acts in and of themselves were mildly entertaining (the ones in the second showcase much moreso than those in the first), but they weren't anything that they couldn't have put on video much more easily and probably much more cheaply...something that would have saved a bunch of time that they could have used to not force the second Showcase Showdown to end at 11:42.

Honestly, the whole thing reminded me of the Craig Ferguson showcase.  They didn't add anything to the presentation -- they were just there.

Also, what the hell is the idea of offering two trips to the same place?!  The bonus for winning the Showcase doesn't sit right with me, either...it at least seems logical on the country music show, but today, it felt like they were doing it just because they could.

For once, Let 'em Roll was actually not that hard -- the oven spray was obvious, and that was a pretty dinky bag of charcoal.  Of course, the day it's reasonable to get all three rolls, the contestant screws one of them up.

Actually, that expected reverse was a CBS error. This really was his first show.

No, it wasn't.  The shows are airing in order, but I believe 5603K was taped before 5602K.

The showcases were awful. I couldn't believe they dedicated that much time to Cirque du Soleil. I'm sure they're an entertaining group, but nothing felt right about how they were presented. Most of it has been mentioned already. However, one thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was the throw to the last commercial break. That moment should be about the climactic end of the show. Have the camera on the contestants and Drew as they go to commercial, not on some random, weirdly dressed performers gathered around a monitor waving absurdly. That really took away from the moment and made the show lose focus...the remaining focus that hadn't already been misplaced, that is.

And of course there's Drew and his crutch line, "We've had a great show today." Whenever he says that, usually some rotten guest appearance has preceded it. Today was no exception. Drew's saying that comes across as more of him trying to convince everyone (and maybe even himself) that it actually was good show. Just as smart people don't have to say, "Hey, look at me, I'm smart," and funny people don't have to say, "Hey, look at me, I'm funny," good shows don't have to tell the viewers that the show was good.

Finally, this small rant. How many freakin' times in the last two segments was Drew going to point out that Cirque du Soleil was on the show today? The audience had already applauded (weakly) several times, and he kept mentioning them and kept mentioning them. By the time Drew did the sign off, I was to the point of wishing I could reach through the television set, slap that stupid, silly grin off his face and say, "Hellloooooooooooooooo, you do realize everyone is tuned in to see The Price is Right and not a Cirque du Soleil promotion, no matter how "cool" you think they are, don't you???"  :P I mean, my gosh, if I had money for every time the words "Cirque du Soleil" were said in the last 15 minutes of the show...

CoG stuck in my craw with the bedroom, mattress AND his and her watches. Whaaa? That's a Dennis James showcase from 1974, not a CoG prize!

And Swap...Drew forgets the aim of the game is to "swap" one prize for another. They should change the name to Pick the Prize with the Same Price. There was a minor staging tweak, bringing the first prize closer to the doors and putting the price sign on the other side. Still wanna see similar music used for each reveal (two 94 T1's or two Grandeurs or two Tony D's, say).

Locally, there's probably more interest in the trial than there is in TPIR. Of course this wouldn't warrant a network pre-emption.

et al.

Question, then: Supposing someone won BOTH showcases? How do they figure the trips to Las Vegas, then? Does the contestant take one extended vacation to Vegas, instead of two separate? Honestly, this is the first time I've ever seen this happen.

I'd personally prefer not to see them anywhere, but if you must, that's probably the best place.  It's a discussion we've had before, and nobody's gaining anything by bringing it back up.

Thank you. I realize the trial coverage is frustrating for Florida folks, particularly those vieweres who have zero interest in the trial, but I believe this thread (and all show recap threads) were about ... talking about the show just aired, for better or worse. I just think discussion about the pre-emptions are more appropriate elsewhere, and I agree with PriceFanArmadillo.

Just looking at this now, but for what it's worth, they did have the April Fool's showcase with identical prizes in each except for the end, so this wasn't ENTIRELY unpredecented offering two Vegas trips. Granted the scenarios are far different, but something like it was done before regardless.
