Title: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 20 (MDS 6)
Post by: Teddy on November 17, 2014, 02:26:16 PM
I have some big news, some very big news for today: It's almost time for my 20th episode! And to mark this milestone, we will be playing an MDS for the sixth time. Also, there will be clips from the last ten episodes that will be played throughout the series.

For the TPG, you will have a choice from the following games:

ACTIVE GAMES:
Any Number
Balance Game '06
Bonkers
Bullseye
Check Game
Coming or Going
Dice Game
Double Prices
Eazy az 1 2 3
Five Price Tags
Flip Flop
Freeze Frame
Gas Money
Golden Road
Grand Game
Grocery Game
1/2 Off
Hole in One
It's in the Bag
Let em Roll
Lucky $even
Magic #
Make Your Move
Master Key
Money Game
More or Less
Now...or Then
One Away
1 Wrong Price
Pass the Buck
Pick-a-Pair
Plinko
Pocket ¢hange
Punch-a-Bunch
Push Over

Secret "X"
Squeeze Play
Shell Game
Side by Side
Switch?
Switcheroo
Take Two
10 Chances
3 Strikes
Time is Money
Triple Play
2 for the Price of 1

Here's the twist for this TPG: Three of the four italicized games (Pass the Buck, Push Over, Switcheroo, Time is Money) will be played on this episode, as well as three others that appeared in the first ten. There are two GP games whose names appear in italics, but in keeping with show tradition that only one can be played, you must choose one or the other, which is also why all the other GP games in this list have been crossed out, meaning that they cannot be picked. I will give out a $10,000 bonus to the players who pick the correct three from the four italicized games, as well as the $19,000 jackpot to anyone who gets all six games right.

As always, I'm looking for at least nine players to join in on the festivities. So who's in?

(enters from Door #2, takes microphone from Amber)

(wild cheers and applause)

Thanks for tuning in, America! Welcome to The Price is Right $1,000,00 Spectacular! And not only is this a primetime show, it's also the celebration of my 20 shows as host! (more cheers) And to celebrate, we'll take a look back at the top ten moments from the last ten shows. Also, we'll have some chances to win a million dollars, which would be the perfect way to celebrate! But right now, let's get it going with the first prize up for bids on The Price is Right $1,000,000 Spectacular!

Thank you, Manuela!

BIDDING ORDER: AMGray1986, SuperSweeper, CheckGameMeBob, Bandon23

(Walking 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Let's go right up here to the Turntable, where we'll play our first game tonight. Now, I want to start this 20th show off with a win, meaning that I want you to be the proud owner of this!

GEORGE: It's a fun snowmobile! (Manuela models it) (Sleigh Ride by The Ronnettes) (applause) Have fun riding the snowy terrain with this snowmobile from Yamaha, which comes with a powerful 4-stroke engine and a durable frame.

Thanks again, Manuela! Now, you see this price of $8,304?

8304

That's not the right price for that snowmobile. The game is called Flip Flop, and you have three choices for the right price. You can flip this to make it $3,804...

3804

or you can flop that to make it $8,340...

8340

...or you can flip this and flop that to make it $3,840.

3840

Now step over there and get to it! Are you going to flip, flop or flip-flop?

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(TPIR Theme 2007)

(cheers and applause)

...and that's your snowmobile! Congratulations, and Happy Holidays! Now, we're counting down the top ten moments from the last ten episodes of this series. No. 10 is an example of how not to bring back a retired game. We were playing The Phone Home Game in Episode 16, and we couldn't even give away a single dollar in that game. Let's take a look back.

Quote
Episode 16: Phone Home Epic Fail!

You say the shampoo is $4.49. Is it?

BUZZ!

No, it was $4.69. What product was $4.49? It was the ice cream. So no $15,000 for you, but you can make up for it on the next two picks.

Let's hope the Advil is $6.89. How about that?

BUZZ!

Wrong again! It was only $5.39. Which one was the $6.89 product?

The lotion. Now catfan2002, this is getting serious. So far you haven't won any money, and you're down to your last chance to do so.

Like I said, that pizza must be $4.19 in order for you to win some money. Now I'll open this thing and hope for the best. Are you going to win some money with that?

BUZZ!/Losing Horns

Oh no, the game is over! Let's go ahead and reveal the rest of the board. Well, this just adds more insult to injury. If you had been right about one of your choices, you would've won $10,000, then $200, and...$3,000, which meant that you would've split $13,200 among yourselves.

(Walking 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Hey wpghi5, it's nice of you to join in the festivities once again. Now here's our next prize.

It was the 9 for the car, and you had the razor right the first time. Well, there's always the Wheel, so we'll see you there. Now we have Moment No. 9 from Episode 11, where we had a bailout from Temptation that proved to be the most painful yet. Here it is.

Quote
Episode 11: If Only He Had Gone for It...

I have offered you $11,659 worth of these gifts. You can take them right now and walk away, but then, you have to forfeit the car. Or you can try to go for the car, but in order to win, you must have all five numbers right. One wrong number ends the game, and you get nothing. So think this over carefully, and then tell me what you're going to do. Are you going to take the gifts or try for the car?

GUYWITHFACE: The car is a nice temptation, but I shall take the gifts.

So you're going to take the gifts? Well, there's no shame in that. But I'll bet most of the audience would like to know had he gone for it, would he have won? (audience says "Yes!") All right, I'll show it to you. The first number, as you know, is 2. Was the second number a 4?

(reveals 4 as second number)

Yes, it was. Was the third number a 6?

(reveals 6 as third number)

(audience gasps)

Now I'm beginning to get a little worried. Was the fourth number a 9?

(reveals 9 as fourth number)

(audience gasps again)

Oh, I hate having to show that last number now. But I'll have to do it anyway, was it a 5? I hope not...

(reveals 5 as last number)

...but it is. (audience groans) But you still have your gifts, as well as your One-Bid, and you'll be back to spin the Big Wheel.

(TPIR Theme 2007)

The Million-Dollar Game is coming up, so stay tuned for that. We'll have it on the other side of this break.

GEORGE: Well, they're trips to Chicago, Las Vegas, Seattle and New Orleans! (Manuela and Amber model them on separate plasma screens) (The Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Johnny Mathis) (cheers and applause) First, you and a guest will fly round-trip coach from Los Angeles to Chicago for a six-night stay at a luxury hotel located in the Loop. Enjoy spectacular views of the skyline, as well as the lakefront. Continental breakfast and room service are included. Second, you and a guest will fly round-trip coach from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Nevada, for a six-night stay at the Sheraton in downtown Las Vegas. Marvel at the many sights on the Strip, including its world-famous casinos, as well as the nearby Hoover Dam. Daily continental breakfast included. Third, you and a guest will fly round-trip coach from Los Angeles to Seattle for a six-night stay at the Ritz Carlton. Located just steps from the major attractions, including Pike Place and the Space Needle, and also offers spectacular views of Mt. Rainier. Daily continental breakfast included. And finally, you and a guest will fly round-trip coach from Los Angeles to New Orleans for a six-night stay at a luxury hotel located in the French Quarter. Continental breakfast and room service are included. Back to you, AMGray1986 and Teddy!

Thanks, Manuela and Amber! Now, you see the target price of $8,950? Two of those trips have a total price of that amount. What I want you to do is pick out the two trips that add up to $8,950, and you win all four trips. And if you hit the target price on the first try, I will give you one...million...dollars!

("$1,000,000" spins on screen)

(Million-Dollar Game Reveal stinger)

(cheers and applause)

That's right, it's the Million-Dollar Game! Now AMGray1986, I want you to think this over carefully, and then tell me which two trips you want to try with.

LAS VEGAS
SEATTLE
NEW ORLEANS

$3950

...$3,950, and the trip to New Orleans is...

CHICAGO
LAS VEGAS
SEATTLE
NEW ORLEANS

$3950

$4850

...$4,850, for a total of...

8950
8800

BUZZ!

...$8,800, which is close, but not right, so no million dollars for you. But you will get another shot in this game, so you can still win. Now, you can take back one trip and try with another, or take back both trips and try with the other two. So what two trips are you going with this time?

OK, you're getting rid of Las Vegas, and keeping the trip to New Orleans at $4,850.

CHICAGO
LAS VEGAS
SEATTLE
NEW ORLEANS

$4850

Now what's the price of the trip to Chicago?

CHICAGO
LAS VEGAS
SEATTLE
NEW ORLEANS
$5125

$4850

$5,125, and the total this time is...

8950
9975

MRRRRRRRRP!

...$9,975. Now the trip to Chicago was right, but if you had also taken Seattle...

CHICAGO
LAS VEGAS
SEATTLE
NEW ORLEANS
$5125

$3825

...which was $3,825...

8950
8950

...then you would've had $8,950. Well AMGray1986, we'll see you at the Wheel.

(applause)

(TPIR Theme 2007)

Now we're up to Moment No. 8. It features a last-second Pathfinder win from the last $1,000,000 Spectacular, which was Episode 15. Let's see it again.

Quote
Episode 15: Big Pathfinder Win!

Now I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is, you have no more second chances left. But the good news is, you can win that SUV by making one final correct decision. Is the last number the 6 in front of you, or the 2 behind you?

AMGRAY1986: 2

It all comes down to this: either you win that SUV, or you will suffer a terrible loss. Now step to that 2 and hope for the best!

CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG!

(car's price is shown as $34,782)

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(wild cheers and applause)

(TPIR Theme 2007)

YOU DID IT!!! You will be driving that SUV home tonight, and we'll see you at the Wheel later on. And we will have our final pricing game ready to go right after this. Congratulations, AMGray1986!

Welcome back! It's time to spin the Big Wheel and see who will be in the Showcase. I have AMGray1986, SuperSweeper and CheckGameMeBob ready to spin. Now, if you get a dollar in one spin or a combination of two spins, you win $5,000 and a Bonus Spin. In the Bonus Spin, a green section is worth $25,000, and a dollar is worth $50,000, so it is possible that you could be $55,000 richer before the show is over! (cheers)

SPINNING ORDER:
AMGray1986 ($1,449)
SuperSweeper ($2,835)
CheckGameMeBob ($9,640)

Please submit three numbers from 1 to 20, plus your minimum stopping score. Good luck to all three of you!

Post by: Teddy on November 26, 2014, 01:46:58 PM
First up is AMGray1986.

(wheel beeps)

Contestant nearest to a dollar without going over will be in the Showcase at the end of the show. And the first spin of the first Showcase Showdown will come to a stop on...

60

...60 cents, and I think you're going to spin again.

(wheel beeps)

Now don't get anything over 40. We're looking for 40 or less, 40 or less...and this could be trouble here...

5

...but you got a nickel, for a total of 65 cents.

.65

DING!

I was afraid it would go to 90 or a dollar, but it's a nickel. SuperSweeper, give it a spin!

(wheel beeps)

65 is not exactly a great score to have when you're the first spinner, but that's what AMGray1986 has right now. And as for you, SuperSweeper, you are going to get...

30

...30 cents, which is one space short of tying AMGray1986. Spin it again.

(wheel beeps)

35 to tie, 40 for the lead, and 70 for the dollar. And here comes that 70, which is trying to make its way down here...

45

...but you got 45 cents, which is again one space short of what you would've wanted. You're the new leader with 75 cents.

.75

DING!

And now, CheckGameMeBob, it's up to you to beat 75!

(wheel beeps)

CheckGameMeBob is trying to beat 75 cents right now, and will he do it with one spin? Not here, he won't.

30

You have 30 cents, so you will spin it again.

(wheel beeps)

Now this is it. Who's going to the Showcase? Will it be SuperSweeper, or CheckGameMeBob? It looks like it's going to be SuperSweeper...

20

...because CheckGameMeBob only got 20, which is too short. Congratulations, SuperSweeper, on making it to the Showcase round! Meanwhile, we'll show you Moment No. 7, which comes from Episode 12. For one contestant, it all went down to the wire on this One Bid. Here's how it went.

Quote
Episode 12: One Last Shot

DING!

And the actual retail price...

CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG!

(more cheers) Now, I don't know who it is, but Cyclone, you can forget about coming up on stage, go back to your seat. (laughter) This is the moment of truth; I'm about to present the most dramatic reveal ever in this series. Here we go! (Walking 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Glad you could make it to the stage, Bandon23! Now here's a prize that I'm sure you'll love. George, what is it?

GEORGE: It's a new SUV! (Rachel models it) (Here Comes Santa Claus by Gene Autry) (cheers and applause) It's the 2015 Ford Expedition, the big SUV with an even bigger heart. Comes with standard features, 3.5-liter V6 with 6-speed automatic transmission, AM/FM/CD stereo with SiriusXM Satellite Radio and MP3 jack, mud flaps, cargo net and engine block heater. This is the Ford Expedition, a terrific prize worth $46,179!

Thanks, Rachel! Now Bandon23, you're going to play Pass the Buck for that SUV! There are six numbers on the board; one has the car behind it. Three more numbers have money behind them, and then you have the two numbers that have Lose Everything behind them. Right now, you have one free pick, but wouldn't it be better to earn two more? And you can with these grocery products. Let's hear about the first pair, George.

(Skating by the Vince Guaraldi Trio)

GEORGE: First, we have a medium can of eggnog, then we have a small can of cranberry sauce.

Now, the reason we call this game Pass the Buck is because the price of one of these products needs an extra dollar added to it in order to be correct.

EGG NOG 2.49
CRANBERRY SAUCE 1.59

Are you passing the buck to the eggnog or the cranberry sauce?

And you're passing it to the cranberry sauce for a price of $2.59.

EGG NOG 2.49
CRANBERRY SAUCE 2.59

Now I want to know, is that right?

BUZZ!

No, it was the eggnog that needed the extra dollar.

CRANBERRY SAUCE 1.59

But we can make up for that with these two products. What are they, George?

It is $25, so you automatically get three more picks off the board! Now let's see the other two prices. The grill was...$40, and the juicer was...$59.

And on we go to the next card. And behind this one is...Wow! Do you realize what you just did? With a $25,000 car on the line? You know, that's a lot of car to go for these days. And for you to do what you did is...well, I'll just shut up and show you what you got. Ready? (takes long, deep breath, then flips over card)

Congratulations, that's your car over there! Go over there and get it! Now let's see what else was there. A C and two A's. But it doesn't matter now, because 123123123 just got a car, and we're just getting started here.

Now you do realize that $100,000 is a lot of money, right? I mean, you can do a lot of things with it, like buy a car, a house, food for the rest of your life. You can also take some of it to Vegas, but I wouldn't recommend gambling on it, you know? However, at the same time, I'm also nervous because of what has happened in the past. You know what, I'll let you decide for yourself what to do with the money. Now, is that pizza more than $5.48? Show...us...that...price...NOW!

Congratulations, you've just made history on The Price is Right! People are going to talk about this for years to come, but I do have some bad news. You just bankrupted the show for the rest of 2013. (laughter) No, I'm just kidding. But you've won your $100,000. Spend it wisely, and we'll see you at the Wheel.

(Return from Commercial Cue)

Welcome back, everybody, to The Price is Right $1,000,000 Spectacular, and also, the celebration of my 20th show! Well George, I see that we have time for just one more contestant, so who will it be now?

GEORGE: It's going to be silverice878, come on down! You're the next contestant on The Price is Right!

(Walking 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Hey silverice878, it's so nice of you to join in the festivities! Now, since you're our final contestant of the night, you will get one chance to bid; and to everyone else, it'll be your last chance to get up on stage. This is the prize.

GEORGE: It's a fabulous hot dog cart! (Amber models it) (Feliz Navidad by Jose Feliciano) (applause) From Boardwalk Classics, this nostalgic hot dog cart is styled after the great stands of the 1930s and '40s, and has a stainless steel finish, storage for your hot dogs, buns, condiments and sodas, plus an umbrella to protect your hot dogs from the elements.

Thanks, Amber!

BIDDING ORDER: silverice878, holein1isawesome, corneliuscarter, wpghi5

And the bidding begins with silverice878!

You can make your favorite milkshakes, smoothies and other delicious mixes with this stylish retro blender.
Before we continue, I just realized that the wrong prize copy was given to George for the fourth small prize in Plinko. In fact, it was a blender, and it was $89, so JustBecause's winnings won't be affected.

And now, back to the show: silverice878 still has 24 hours left to make his bid.

silverice878 has missed the deadline, and thus gets a meaningless first strike and a default bid of $99999. And since the other three bidders already submitted theirs, I'll just cut to the chase.

Welcome to the stage, corneliuscarter! Now George, I'm sure we have a great prize for him to win, don't we?

GEORGE: We sure do, Teddy! corneliuscarter, how would you like to win...A NEW CAR?! (Manuela models it) (All I Want for Christmas by Mariah Carey) (cheers and applause) It's the 2015 Mazda Miata, the little sports car with lots of big surprises, and lots of power too. Comes with standard features, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 6-speed manual transmission, AM/FM/CD stereo with SiriusXM Satellite Radio, premium leather seating and engine block heater. This is the Mazda Miata!

Thank you, Manuela! Now corneliuscarter, the game is called Push Over, and all you have to do to win that car is to push these blocks over to the right price, which will contain five numbers.

Remember, any blocks that fall off the table are gone forever, and you cannot get them back; also, you cannot pull either. Now start pushing!

(cheers and applause)

Yes, you are! Congratulations, that's your car over there, and we'll see you later on at the Wheel.

MRRRRRRRRP!

(audience groans)

But instead, it was also too much, so JustBecause will be in the Showcase at the end of the show. Now, you will get just one spin to see if you can hit the dollar. Go for it!

(wheel beeps)

Around and around it goes, and I don't think you will get that dollar...

(Dig We Must 2007)

...but you will be in the Showcase, like I said.

Now JustBecause, all you have to do is be closer than that without going over, and you win your Showcase, which included a hammock, a party boat and a Buick LaCrosse. Your bid was $41,100, and the actual retail price is: $44,796, for a difference of...

And first up is JustBecause.

(wheel beeps)

Around and around it goes, and it looks like it's going to come to a stop on...

65

...65 cents. Now that's a tricky number, and it looks like you're going to go again.

(wheel beeps)

Now don't get anything over 35. I think 30 would be nice, or 10 if it can make it there...NO!!!

65

MRRRRRRRRP!

(audience groans)

If I were you, I would've stopped at 65 the first time. Thanks for playing, JustBecause, and now it's corneliuscarter's turn to spin.

(wheel beeps)

There's nobody to beat right now, and let's see what you're going to start out with. How about...

65

...65 cents? I believe you will take that, so over there you go.

.65

DING!

Now Bandon23 will try to beat 65 cents.

(wheel beeps)

Will he do it with one spin? We will find out in a moment. And it looks like he will...

95

.95

...with a score of 95 cents. Congratulations, Bandon23, you're going to the Showcase! Now, we're up to Moment No. 3, which features a disastrous ending from Episode 10, one that we hope does not happen tonight. Here it is.

Quote
Episode 10: Double-Overbid!

OK, it's time to find out who won. wpghi5, we're going to start with you. You had the swimsuits, trips to Hawaii and Jamaica, a Chevy Camaro and a Dodge Challenger. Your bid was $82,000, and the actual retail price is: (low, sad voice) $66,280.

MRRRRRRRRP!

You are over, and I'm so sorry. Now Flerbert419, if you do not go over, you will win your Showcase. You had the satellite radio tuner, trips to Seattle, New Orleans and Miami and a Cadillac XTS; you bid $77,777. Actual retail price: (low, sad voice) $61,348.

MRRRRRRRRP!/Losing Horns

You're over as well. Wow, we picked a hell of a time to have the first Double-Overbid in this series! (audience groans) But I hope you both had fun anyway, and we'll see you again soon.

(Dig We Must 2007)

We'll have the Showcases on the other side of this break, and hopefully someone will win this time. Stay right there; you don't want to miss it!

And that's the end of this 20th episode as host of The Price is Right! Teddy here, reminding you to help control the pet population and get your pets spayed or neutered, because it's the right thing to do. Happy Holidays; thanks for watching. We'll see you on the daytime Price is Right, and here's to 20 more! Good night, everybody!

(as end credits roll, random staff member rolls out large cake with the number 20 on top)

GEORGE: This is George Gray speaking for The Price is Right, a FremantleMedia production!

TOTAL WINNINGS:
SuperSweeper ($101,099)
Bandon23 ($51,639)
corneliuscarter ($30,314)
CheckGameMeBob ($9,640)
JustBecause ($2,761)
AMGray1986 ($1,449)

And now I've officially joined the ranks of the elite, having an HYO series that has lasted at least 20 episodes, a distinction shared with Frank15, goldroadfanatic, leafsfan17 and the moderator himself, Jordanar18, among others. If someone had told me that I would host that many episodes back when I first got started way back in 2008, I would've said they were crazy, and that I just wanted to host a few shows just to get a feel of the excitement of the HYO section. Little did I know then that it would gain a big following afterwards, so I'm grateful for that.

For the second time in my series, all the prize cues were replaced with holiday music; this time, I successfully completed a holiday-themed episode just in time for Christmas.

I'm taking a holiday break right now, but I'll be back in 2015 to pick up where I left off, so it's up to the other hosts to step up in the meantime.

And here's the TPG recap:

CheckGameMeBob: Golden Road/Push Over/Check Game/Time is Money/Shell Game/Pass the Buck
SuperSweeper: Triple Play/Push Over/Time is Money/Switcheroo/Money Game/Squeeze Play
corneliuscarter: Coming or Going/Dice Game/Double Prices/Eazy az 1 2 3/Five Price Tags/Flip Flop
wpghi5: Time Is Money/Take Two/Any Number/Push Over/Pass The Buck/Double Prices
Bandon23: Take Two/Any Number/Lucky $even/3 Strikes/Check Game/Bonkers
silverice878: Golden Road/Push Over/Most Expensive/Take Two/Now.... or Then/Five Price Tags
AMGray1986: Any Number/1/2 Off/Switcheroo/Push Over/Pass the Buck/Eazy as 1 2 3
JustBecause: 5 Price Tags/Pushover/Time Is Money/Switcheroo/Range Game/Temptation
holein1isawesome: Golden Road/Range Game/Pass the Buck/Time is Money/Switcheroo/Any Number

And the winners are: wpghi5 and AMGray1986, who got three games right. As a result, they will be granted First Four passes if they sign up for the next show. And because AMGray1986 is the only one who correctly guessed the three remaining unplayed games that appeared on this show, he also wins the $10,000 bonus!

As Time is Money and Hurdles are the last two games that have yet to be played in my series, I will feature one of them in each of my next two shows.

Up next: Episode 21, aka the first show of 2015. The floor is now open for your comments.
