Title: #9254D (June 16, 1994) (incomplete)
Post by: thatvhstapeguy on January 02, 2019, 02:12:16 PM
Found this (partially overwritten) episode on an old tape of mine. Only the tail end of the 1st Showcase Showdown and the 2nd half are intact.

BTW that's on my own YouTube channel. I've uploaded some clips before, but no full or partial episodes before.

This comes from the December 29, 1994 rerun. Still, it's a bit confusing with Bob's description after Money Game since he mentioned $2,000 awarded during the first Showcase Showdown, where the presence of seeing 1.00 on the scoreboard and spinoff implies that Donna may have won $11,000, but of course since she wasn't the top winner in the Showcase, won't be possible. It was a double spinoff IIRC.

I looked back through it, and I think you're right. This definitely aired during the last week of '94 because of the promo for the premiere of Cybill, which premiered Mon. 1/2/95. Plus, the football game that overwrote the first half of this episode was the 1995 Orange Bowl, which aired 1/1/95. So I'll take your word for the date, as I know you're pretty good with this stuff. The video title and description have been updated accordingly.

Thanks for the info!

I think what happened was that Donna's bonus spin didn't go all the way around the first time, and wasted her chance of winning more money, but the spinoff spin to determine who would be in the showcase counted. It ended up being a bonus spin/spinoff. The November 27, 2002 episode should have also been that way but it wasn't the case in a wrongful way.
