Title: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 11: Showcases
Post by: Teddy on September 27, 2012, 09:48:54 AM
Well, here we are again, in a new season of The Price is Right, and I've been given the go-ahead to kick off Season 41 with its first new HYO!

As always, this is going to be a full-hour episode, so I need at least nine players to join. Also, I'm introducing a new pre-show contest, called the Teddy Prediction Game (TPG). Here's how this works: All you have to do is guess the six PGs that will be played on the upcoming show. The one who gets the most PGs right wins an automatic First Four spot, and if you guess all six correctly, you will win a $10,000 bonus. Cool, isn't it? (No, the $10,000 will not count towards your winnings on the actual show, but chances are you probably won't care anyway.)

The TPG is optional, so if you don't want to play, then you don't have to. Keep in mind that two of the games will be played for cars, at least one fee game will be played (featuring GPs/SPs), and one of the games will either be a retired game or a BigJon exclusive (i.e. a game that exists on his TPIR PC game, but not on the real show). Also, for now, you cannot use a game that's already been played in my series. To recap these games, here's a look back at the first ten episodes:

Episode 1: Golden Road, Plinko, Race Game, Most Expensive, Master Price, Squeeze Play
Episode 2: Starting Points, 1/2 Off, One Away, Double Prices, Money Game, Grocery Game
Episode 3: Triple Play, Trader Bob, 2 for the Price of 1, Barker's Bargain Bar, Coming or Going, More or Less
Episode 4: Grand Game, Dice Game, Make Your Move, Master Key, Bonkers, Poker Game
Episode 5: Five Price Tags, It's in the Bag, Flip Flop, Take Two, Pocket ¢hange, Jam
Episode 6: Freeze Frame, Now...or Then, Gas Money, Eazy az 1-2-3, Rat Race, Secret "X"
Episode 7: Lucky $even, Side By Side, Safe Crackers, Switch?, Let em Roll, Clearance Sale
Episode 8: Classic Any Number, Bullseye I, Balance Game '84, Balance Game '06, Bullseye, Any Number
Episode 9: Punch-a-Bunch, 3 Strikes, Check Game, Make Your Mark, Hole in One, Magic #
Episode 10: Buy or Sell, Shot in the Dark, Shell Game, One Wrong Price, Pick-a-Pair, 10 Chances

Now that we got that out of the way, it's time to come on down and sign up!

I just spotted a mistake while making my list: Double Digits should go in the retired section, as it hasn't been played since 1973, and, in a way, became the inspiration for Temptation. Anyway, looking forward to starting the show tomorrow.

And you can add these games to the BigJon section:

Movin' on Up
Radical
UpSideDown

I don't know if he's added any more games, aside from Double Cross (because of that detested C&D order Fremantle gave him a few years back), but we'll see about that. I got these games from the thread below:

(Walking 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Welcome to the stage, GuyWithFace! Always feels good to win your way on stage! Now George, what do we have for GuyWithFace to win this time?

GEORGE: Well, how about...A NEW SUV! (MDS Car Cue) (Rachel models it) (cheers and applause) It's a 2012 Chevy Equinox LS, the crossover that fits your life. This fuel-efficient and roomy FWD crossover comes with standard features, plus a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 6-speed automatic transmission, AM/FM/CD stereo with SiriusXM satellite radio, OnStar roadside assistance, backup camera, cargo net and engine block heater. This is the Chevy Equinox!

(Temptation Cue #1)

That's a Chevy Equinox, and the game you're going to play is called Temptation. First off, let me show you the first number in the price of that SUV. It is...

$2$$$$
$2

DING!

...2. Now, in addition to that SUV, we have some other prizes that you can win. Think of these as gifts that could help you win it. Now, Amber is going to bring us the first gift, and George will tell us about it.

GEORGE: Make beautiful music with this flute, finished in fine rust-free nickel that makes it as pleasant to look at as it is to play. Carrying case included.

Now what is the price of that flute?

$499

It's $499. Would you like a 4 or 9 as the second number?

Let's put a 4 up there.

$24$$$
$2

DING!

And later on, we'll see if you're right. (Temptation Cue #2) But right now, Manuela is bringing out another prize on stage. What is it, George?

GEORGE: Watch your favorite shows, movies and sporting events with this crystal-clear HDTV set, which can either be used as a standalone unit or hung on the wall.

And the price of that HDTV set is?

$1661

$1,661. Is your next choice a 1 or a 6?

Show us a 6.

$246$$

DING!

You wanted it, got it. (extended version of Walking 1976) And here comes Amber with the next prize. It looks like a trip to somewhere. Hey George, where is that trip to?

GEORGE: You and a guest will fly round-trip coach from Los Angeles to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for a six-night stay at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach. Take in the many sights that make it a world-class destination, like its famous boardwalk and many shops. Daily continental breakfast included.

How much is the trip to Myrtle Beach?

$4499

You want a 9.

$2469$
$2

DING!

And there it is. (flute version of Car Cue '83) Now Manuela is back with what looks like a fishtank of cash. Exactly how much is in it, George?

GEORGE: Well Teddy, it's $5,000 in cash!

$5000

$5,000. Are you going with a 5 or a 0 as your last choice?
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 11: PG1
Post by: GuyWithFace on October 02, 2012, 09:02:19 PM
5.

(And for the record, I do not wish to alter the resulting price of $24,695.)
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 11: PG1
Post by: Teddy on October 02, 2012, 10:01:45 PM
Let's make it a 5.

$24695
$2

DING!

You now have a price of $24,695, and since you're not going to change the numbers, I'll just give you the following two choices: I have offered you $11,659 worth of these gifts. You can take them right now and walk away, but then, you have to forfeit the car. Or you can try to go for the car, but in order to win, you must have all five numbers right. One wrong number ends the game, and you get nothing. So think this over carefully, and then tell me what you're going to do. Are you going to take the gifts or try for the car?
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 11: PG1
Post by: GuyWithFace on October 03, 2012, 12:19:56 AM
The car is a nice temptation, but I shall take the gifts.
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 11: IUFB2
Post by: Teddy on October 03, 2012, 07:10:53 AM
So you're going to take the gifts? Well, there's no shame in that. But I'll bet most of the audience would like to know had he gone for it, would he have won? (audience says "Yes!") All right, I'll show it to you. The first number, as you know, is 2. Was the second number a 4?

$24695
$24

Yes, it was. Was the third number a 6?

$24695
$246

(audience gasps)

Now I'm beginning to get a little worried. Was the fourth number a 9?

$24695
$2469

(audience gasps again)

Oh, I hate having to show that last number now. But I'll have to do it anyway, was it a 5? I hope not...

$24695
$24695

...but it is. (audience groans) But you still have your gifts, as well as your One-Bid, and you'll be back to spin the Big Wheel.

(applause)

Now George, it's time to get a new contestant. Who will it be?

GEORGE: wpghi5, come on down! You're the next contestant on The Price is Right!

(Walking 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Welcome to the show again, wpghi5! Here's the next prize.

GEORGE: It's a portable keyboard. (2003 Prize Cue 1) (Amber models it) (applause) Become a master musician with this full-sized 61-key portable keyboard from Yamaha, with stereo speakers, as well as hundreds of sounds and rhythmical styles to choose from. Includes its own bench and foldup stand.

Thanks, Amber!

BIDDING ORDER: wpghi5, RCPlanes59, 88JRFAN, Cyclone

Laptop is very close to it, I think.  I'm going to go with that.  Hopefully the Canadian pricing isn't throwing me off here! :D

Very well then, Amber, will you please show us the price of the laptop?

$1,599
LAPTOP

DING!

It is $1,599. So the cookware has to be $1,599 for you to be a winner. OK, Rachel, it's time to show is the price of the cookware. Is Cyclone a winner?

RACHEL: Cyclone, I'm sorry, but...

$800
COOKWARE

BUZZ!/Losing Horns

...you are not a winner.

$800? What else is also $800?

$800
WATCHES

$1,999

It was the watches that were $800. But Cyclone, you'll be back to spin the Big Wheel later on in the show. Thanks for playing.

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(Walking 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Hey wpghi5, I'll bet you're ready to do some more winning right now! Well, there's something we can give him, isn't there, George?

GEORGE: You know what, Teddy, there is. How about a relaxing sauna! (Phaser) (Manuela models it in a bathing suit) (applause) From Almost Heaven of Renick, West Virginia, this barrel sauna is a great way to soothe and rejuvenate your body. Includes heat control for the most satisfying steam experience every time! It's a terrific prize worth $6,750!

Thanks, Manuela! Now wpghi5, we're going to play a game called Give or Keep. In a minute, I will show you three pairs of small prizes, and from each pair, you will try to pick the more expensive prize. And at the end of the game, if you keep more than you give away, you will win that sauna! With that in mind, let's see the first two prizes, which are...

TOASTER
SHAKERS

...a toaster and some shakers. George, let's hear about them.

(Cue 14)

GEORGE: This toaster can hold up to four slices of bread, and allows you to control how dark or how light you want it. Or this pepper mill and salt shaker set make any food delicious, and complement your dinner table well.

So wpghi5, are you going to keep the toaster or the shakers?

You're keeping the toaster, so what's the price of those shakers?

TOASTER
$20

They're $20, so that goes in the Give column.

GIVE
20

DING!

Next up is...

BOARD GAME
GRILL

...a board game and a grill. George, tell us more.

(Cue 62)

GEORGE: Become a real-estate tycoon with this classic Monopoly game. Or prepare burgers, hot dogs, barbecue chicken and other tasty summer cookout foods with this portable version of the classic Weber charcoal grill.

Would you like to keep the board game or the grill?

The grill.
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 11: PG3
Post by: Teddy on October 08, 2012, 09:18:23 PM
Very well then, you're keeping the grill, so I'll show the price of the board game, which is...

$24
GRILL

...$24, and we'll add that to the Give column.

GIVE
44

DING!

So you've given a total of $44. Our final two prizes are...

GEORGE: Cut, trim and shave unwanted facial hair in a snap with this electric razor. Or you can make your favorite milkshakes, smoothies and other delicious mixes with this stylish retro blender.

$65
BLENDER

$65, which will go into the Give column.

GIVE

And we have a grand total of $109 worth of prizes given away. So the total of the prizes you've kept must be at least $109 for you to win the sauna, but regardless of the ultimate result, you still keep the toaster, the grill and the blender. Now how much is the toaster?

$32

$32.

KEEP

Welcome back to The Price is Right! It's time to spin the Big Wheel with Cyclone, wpghi5 and GuyWithFace. The contestant nearest to a dollar without going over will be in the Showcase at the end of the show. And if you get a dollar in one spin or a combination of two spins, we will give you $1,000 and a Bonus Spin, in which you could win $10,000 for a green section and $25,000 for a dollar!

SPINNING ORDER:
Cyclone: $649
wpghi5: $8,311
GuyWithFace: $13,659

So with that in mind, I need two numbers from 1-20 and your minimum stopping score. Good luck to all of you!

Yup, the big L goes first. LMAO

Oh well, a dollar's gotta be coming with 7 and 11!  Oh, and I'm a 60 cents man.

If by chance I get a bonus spin, to speed this up, 17.

Cyclone

3 and 17. Stop at whatever beats the leader or if it is a tie at 50+ (spin again if the tie is below 50).

(Spin-Off choice is 7, Bonus Spin choice is 1.)
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 11: SCSD1
Post by: Teddy on October 09, 2012, 09:00:54 PM
Cyclone is going to spin first.

(wheel beeps)

There goes the first spin of the first Showcase Showdown, and it looks like it's coming to a stop on...

60

...60 cents. And you're staying? Interesting.

.60

DING!

Now it's wpghi5's turn to spin.

(wheel beeps)

Around and around it goes, and it looks like you will end up with...could it be 65? 65, 65, 65...

30

(audience groans)

OH! You almost had it, but instead, it stopped on 30 cents. Spin it again.

(wheel beeps)

You have taken your second spin, and I believe that you will get...

35

...35 cents more, for a total of 65. You're now the leader. Sorry, Cyclone, thanks for playing.

.65

DING!

And now GuyWithFace will spin.

(wheel beeps)

GuyWithFace is now trying to beat 65 cents with his first spin, and it looks like he...

30

...did not do it. 30 cents, spin it again.

(wheel beeps)

Man, we've been getting lots of low numbers here. And we are about to add to that 30 cents...

35

...35??? You must be kidding me! Well, this means that wpghi5 and GuyWithFace are going to have a spin-off to determine who will be going on to the Showcase round. GuyWithFace has already given me his spin-off number, so I will need one number from wpghi5 between 1 and 20. Good luck to both of you!

wpghi5 will spin first this time.

(wheel beeps)

The better score wins, and you still get a Bonus Spin if you hit the dollar. Now this spin is going to be worth...

75

...75 cents, so back you go.

.75

DING!

And GuyWithFace will need to beat 75 cents to get into the Showcase.

(wheel beeps)

Will he do it, or will wpghi5 move on to the Showcase? Well, this doesn't look good for GuyWithFace...

10

...because he only got a dime. Thanks for playing.

(cheers and applause)

(Dig We Must 2007)

wpghi5, you're in the Showcase round at the end of the show. And welcome back to The Price is Right! I'm here with stardf29, 88JRFAN and Flerbert419, and they're ready to spin the Big Wheel. (cheers and applause) And the one of you nearest to a dollar without going over will be in the Showcase.

SPINNING ORDER:
stardf29: $2,500

stardf29, you're up first.

(wheel beeps)

The first spin of the second Showcase Showdown is on its way, and it looks like it's coming to a stop on...Hey, look at this! LOOK...AT...THIS! A DOLLAR!

100

1.00

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(cheers and applause)

(Dig We Must 2007)

stardf29 got a dollar, and will get a Bonus Spin in a moment. But first, 88JRFAN will spin the Wheel.

(wheel beeps)

The only way to stay in is to tie for a dollar. Now you won't get it in your first spin, but let's see what you're going to start out with. It's a quarter.

25

Spin it again, and try for 75 cents.

(wheel beeps)

There it goes. And there it goes again. But will it come back again? It's going to try...no, this is not going to work out. You only got 35 cents, and that's not enough.

35

Thanks  for playing, 88JRFAN. Flerbert419, spin that Wheel!

(wheel beeps)

You can't beat stardf29, but you can tie him. And it looks like you're going to start out with...75 cents.

75

Now you need 25 cents to stick around. Give it a good spin.

(wheel beeps)

Will you get that quarter? Will you get that quarter? Will you...No, it's too fast for that. Well, thanks for playing, Flerbert419, and enjoy your trips.

15

Now stardf29, come right back to me. (resets wheel to 5-cent space) Since you got the dollar, you win $1,000! (cheers and applause) This is going to be your Bonus Spin. As I said before, you get $10,000 for a green section, and $25,000 for a dollar! So give me one number from 1 to 20, and good luck to you!

And here goes the Bonus Spin right now.

(wheel beeps)

Here come the three money spots, and there they go. Now they're going to come back again one more time...but they'll pass on by, so no more money for you.

(Dig We Must 2007)

But you will be in the Showcase round at the end of the show. Now you can follow us on Twitter @PriceIsRight (http://twitter.com/PriceIsRight) for all the latest goings-on about the show. Again, we're on Twitter @PriceIsRight. The Showcase round is next. You don't want to miss it!

Teddy reminding you, help control the pet population, and have your pets spayed or neutered, because it's the right thing to do. Thanks for watching The Price is Right, and we'll see you again next time. Goodbye, everybody!

(end credits roll)

GEORGE: This is George Gray speaking for The Price is Right, a FremantleMedia production!

TOTAL WINNINGS:
wpghi5: $41,561
Flerbert419: $13,777
GuyWithFace: $13,659
88JRFAN: $8,248
stardf29: $3,500
Cyclone: $649

A few notes on this episode: Not only has wpghi5 maintained his perfect record in PGs, this is also his second Showcase win. This was also the first PG loss involving a Buick, and just the second time that a model from that make had not been won (there was an Enclave in a Showcase from Episode 5). Also, Temptation had the first bailout in my series.

Here's a recap of the TPG:
88JRFAN: Plinko/3 Strikes/Hi Lo/Side By Side/Step Up/That's Too Much
DarkShockBro: Golden Road/Cliff Hangers/Danger Price/Double Cross/Add em Up/Domino Game
Flerbert419: Pay the Rent/Cover Up/1 Right Price/Swap Meet/Spelling Bee/Push Over
123123123: Stack the Deck/Cliff Hangers/Tower of Cash/Step Up/Pathfinder/1 Right Price
wpghi5: Superball/Pathfinder/Push Over/1 Right Price/Card Game/Check-Out
RCPlanes59: Spelling Bee/Bonus Game/Double Cross/Master Price/Cliff Hangers/Hi-Lo

And the winner is wpghi5 (son of a gun!), who correctly named three of the six games in today's episode. As I mentioned earlier, the jackpot for the next TPG will be $11,000, and I will update my PG pool with each new show.

Up next: Episode 12. The floor is now open for comments.
