Episode #5414K (Kathy Greco's final episode) |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
First IUFB: Laptop (Dell; 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD; ARP: $1,142) (Gwendolyn)
Before the first pricing game, Drew announces that this taping will be Kathy Greco's last. Lots of special things will be done today in her honor. She has been on the show for 6,881 shows over 35 years. Jagruti is playing Switch?

Second IUFB: Power tools (ARP: $1,140) (Manuela)
Kesna is playing Coming or Going for a Sea-Doo GTI 130 PWC. (w/trailer) (Gwendolyn)

Third IUFB: Fragrances and lotions (Tommy Bahama; ARP: $507) (Rachel and Gwendolyn)
From this point on, we have four pricing games that Kathy Greco had a hand in designing. Though from what I'm told, her hand in this first one is quite transient. According to Drew, she said so herself. Shawn is playing is playing Master Key!
Drew hands Shawn key #2 first.
#2 was the dud. |

Fourth IUFB: DVR home security camera kit (Swann; 4 cameras, 500GB DVR unit; ARP: $699) (Manuela)
It would appear Drew just went overboard with Master Key, because Kathy DID invent the remaining three games. Roland is playing Pick-a-Pair for a trip to Aruba. (RT coach LA to Aruba, 6n Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort, private kiteboarding lesson; ARP: $6,990) (Gwendolyn)
Drew mentioned Kathy Greco is nicknamed "Fingers". Probably would've made a funnier joke if the trip were to Vienna. |

Fifth IUFB: Free-standing gas grill (ARP: $1,699) (Rachel)
Lucas is playing Line 'em Up for a 2011 Chevrolet Colorado Regular Cab. (2.9-litre engine, 3mo XM satellite radio) (Rachel)

You know what they say. "You can't fool the Fingers." That's been the case with Shawntal on the red podium today, upstaged by poor bidders and even a one-time stoner. Now she's at risk. If she does fail with the last bid advantage, at least Kathy (who asked for the last contestant) will escort her to the mugshot machine for her date with First Four Wall of Shame infamy on her way out. Sixth IUFB: His-and-hers watches (Croton; ARP: $1,000) (overhead platform)
Shawntal escapes! She is playing Secret "X" for a spa. (Great Lakes Spas GL4; w/spa surround; Total ARP: $7,562) (Rachel) Free X placed in upper right. (Items by Gwendolyn)

SHOWCASE
ROUND
The second showcase was thought up in secret as a surprise for Kathy. The earlier rehearsal with her present was a fake showcase. Personally, just for laughs, I'd love to know what that fake second showcase was. The honor featured clips of her in an earlier showcase in her honor in 1978, her modelling the Dining Room Group of Doom in 1994, and her dancing with Drew in a Christmas episode in 2007. During the closing credits, they brought out a cake. |

Now, not to rain on the parade, and I know its all in the past, but it does frustrate me immensely that Kathy gets a lavish send off while :clipboard: got kicked to the curb. Sometimes there's no justice in this world...
That second showcase was tear-jerking. Great to see all those clips. However it would have been better seeing her do the Gator from the 80's instead of 2007 because she was younger then. I guess Mike wanted no Barker clips and since you can see him in that one it was scrapped.
It really rubs me the wrong way that Fingers got all this special treatment for a whole show, even having a showcase dedicated to her, while Roger, who, frankly, was far, far more instrumental to the show's success than she was, got nothing.
If Roger wasn't fired from the show, then they might have given Roger a similar send-off.That's what I say. Not that this makes it fair, but it's all because both situations had very different endings.

Uh, they most certainly did air the clip from the '80s. I'm not really sure how you could miss the Pricedown dollar signs on the Big Wheel.Well, I'm still blind 8-)
So what is tomorrow's episode number if 5415K aired on January 5?
Was that Frank Wayne in the VIP section (right behind the green spot)?I'm thinking it's Frank Greco, Kathy's husband.
P.S. Evidently, the PTB have decided to whitewash all memory of Bob. To edit him out of the classic Greco clips was a petty move.
The tribute video was about Kathy.. not Bob, not Roger, not Janice... Kathy. No need to insert anyone else in there.
Yes, but they found room to include Drew in the clips, even though she and Drew only worked together for three and a half years.

Two words: "Personality rights"
That'd be Frank Greco, seeing as how Frank Wayne has been dead for 22 years.
Your point is...Royalties? No, they want people to associate Price with Drew now more than anything.

No one's been able to find any data on what's airing tomorrow, even with the photo site giving production numbers. It may very well just be a rerun.

I know this website is particularly sour towards the firing of the DOB, and yes it is completely unfair...but let's not let what happened in July '08 lower our enjoyment / farewells.
If Roger wasn't fired from the show, then they might have given Roger a similar send-off.
Very obvious a lot of admiration between Drew and Kathy.
I understand you point, but let's be real, Steve! You brought the "if it was a regular job, Drew would be fired" argument, the other day, and it applies here too! If someone gets fired after 36 years, no matter the reason, they won't do a retirement party.

Actually, they did. I've seen the pictures.
In which episode did Kathy dance with Drew? I know from the set that it was Season 36, so it's the first half of 2007.
Which episode featured the original salute to Kathy Greco in 1978?A)Unknown...it wouldn't surprise me if it was around the time of Roger's.
Which episodes did Kathy model on in 1994?
Even though this is a 30 day bump, it was great that they reran this show today for grecos last day. She is so missed.
How did I know Secret X was going to be played last? Boy that game actually built up some suspense when the middle column nearly got stuck as it was coming around. It was also weird that Kathy didn't set the game up for a win since it was her last show. Oh well.
