Hello all! It's time for another tpiradam Price is Right episode! This time we're going back to the good ol' days of appliances and furniture, set in the present day. Hour long show and prices are in Canadian dollars. Here is how you can earn a spot as one of the first four: You are tasked with finding the most presentable way to give away an avocado green refrigerator. Any way you like; zhoosh it up, paint it, fire it out of a cannon what have you. I'll be looking for the most creative and practical ways. Sign ups will close Saturday evening permitting I have enough participants!
-
Have someone hide inside and sing Monty Python's "The Galaxy Song" when it's introduced.
-
Present it behind the 00s GPT (green), have Grand Game positioned behind it, and when the model (wearing a green dress) opens it up it is filled with green food (green vegetables, green eggs and ham, etc.). Background music is by Green Day.
-
Well since Christmas is next week why not decorate it as if it's a Christmas tree there! And as for a snack how about some nachos and guacamole! Made out of avocados of course! Lol! :-D
-
I don't have any ideas other put a wreath on it. Also, for a snack how about some guacamole dip with original chips.
-
I'd love to join; I've no ideas for presenting the fridge though.
-
Due to the site outage, sign ups are extended to this coming Saturday.
-
Offer a supply of Jolly Green Giant vegetables with the fridge, saying that the fridge is a small-scale model of the one used by Mr. Giant in his kitchen.
-
I can do one of two things here: I can again extend the sign up deadline or somehow play with six participants (meaning everyone would play a game on stage) or postpone the show...
-
Peanut gallery here: between the website problems from a couple of days ago and the fact that this is the busy-outside-of-this-website holiday season, I would suggest cancelling the show and reposting it late next week, say Jan. 2, once New Years' Day is over. Just my two cents.
-
I disagree. I say go play with the 6 participants.
-
I would keep the six contestants who have already signed up and extend the deadline until January 2 in case more people want to play.
-
If it’s not too late, I’d like to sign up.
I would be in favor of extending the deadline, since the site outage threw things out of swing and people aren’t checking the site regularly on vacation.
As for the fridge: fill it with avacados, throw in a supply of bread and a toaster, and offer it as an item up for bids during Kids Week.
-
Thank you all for your input. I have decided to extend the deadline to the evening of January 2nd and take it from there.
-
I have consulted with a moderator and due to the number of participants this will be chopped down to a half hour show...

Announcer: A new car!
The 2019 Chevrolet Cruze Sedan! Comes with standard equipment plus floor mats and engine block heater, the Chevrolet Cruze!
We are playing Pocket ¢hange.
That car over there currently has a price on it of only 25¢, and look what I have here for you: 25¢! If you didn't have to play this game you could buy that car now but that would just be pointless. The numbers up on the board correspond to the price of the car. We will give you the first number for free what is it?
*ding*
A two. It's a $20,000+ car. I want you to tell me the next number in the price of the car and if you're correct you get to pick an envelope off the board. Choose incorrectly and the price of the car will go up by 25¢. After you have the price of the car lit up on the board we will add up all of your pocket change and if it totals the price of the car or more you win that car. What do you believe is the second number in the car?
-
Wow, I thought I had no chance after wpghi's bid...
Second number is 0, Adam!
-
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
-
He thinks the second number is 0...
*BZZZZZZZZZZ*
It is not. Raise that car price up to 50¢. What is your next guess?
-
Next guess is 3.
If it isn't 3, next guess is 4.
If it isn't 4, then 5.
-
How about 3?
*DING*
3 it is! Take an envelope off the board and we will see how much is in it at the end. What do you say is the next number?
-
Envelope #1, please.
Next guess is 7.
If not 7, then 4.
If not 4, then 5.
-
Do we have a 7?
*BZZZZZZZZ*
No we don't. Up goes the price by another 25¢. He says it's a 4, is it?
*DING*
It is. Another number, another envelope. Three numbers up there, two left in the price of the car. Which number is next?
-
I pick envelope #2.
7 is next!
If not 7, then 5.
That 0 just looks out of place in the middle of the car.
-
Give us a 7!
*BZZZZZZZ*
Nope. No 7. Up another 25¢. What about 5?
*BZZZZZZZZ*
No it's not that either! It must be that darn awkward 0.
*DING*
It sure is. Another envelope off the board if you please. One number left. Is it the 5 or the 7?
-
Got me there.
5, please!
Envelope #20 and then #19.
-
Is it 5?
*DING*
Yes it is! The car's price is $23,405 and the price is currently up to $1.25. We'll give you that 25¢ you were given in the beginning.
*DING*
In the first envelope we will discover you have...75¢!
*DING*
Only 25¢ away! What do we have in this next envelope...
25¢!
*DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING*
You've won that car! Congratulations! I'm sure we will be seeing you back for our Showcases at the end of the show. More winning perhaps, after this!

We have time for one more contestant. Who will it be?
Announcer: It's going to be geniusinmath! Come on down! You're the next contestant on tpiradam's Price is Right.
Welcome geniusinmath. Let's take a look at what they'll be bidding on.
Announcer: It's a new bar set!
From RAM Game Room Products this Bamboo Tiki Bar Set is durable to withstand most weather conditions for fun and enjoyment outdoors. From RAM Game Room Products!
Geniusinmath, what do you say?
Geniusinmath
wpghi5
PatrickRox80
JayC
-
I always wanted that $1,500.
-
$1650, Adam!
-
$1,000.
-
JayC's 24hr time limit has expired.
geniusinmath: $1,500
wpghi5: $1,650
PatrickRox80: $1,000
JayC: XXXXX
The actual retail price of that bar set is $1,369. PatrickRox80! Get up on here on stage and join me at the turntable! I have a number of prizes to offer you, beginning with what?
Announcer: First we have this Fathom Los Cabos Mask, Snorkel and Fin Set for exploring the depths of the ocean, sea or even your backyard swimming pool!
Next this wonderful surfboard!
The 7S 7-foot Superfish 4 IM FCS2 Surfboard made from all natural materials and sculpted to offer the best in surfing experiences for novice and seasoned surfers!
And finally, you can use all that gear on your trip to The Bahamas!
You and a guest will fly round trip from Toronto YYZ Airport to Nassau, Bahamas via WestJet for a Seven Night stay at The Reef at Atlantis Paradise Island! One of The Bahamas most renowned and luxurious accommodations offering top-notch service and breathtaking views!
And you will be off to The Bahamas with Snorkel Gear and Surfboard in hand if you win Make Your Move
(https://i.imgur.com/Jh65ti0.png)
There are nine numbers on the board. You will slide the marker marked Swim Gear under the two numbers in the price. Then you will do the same with the Surfboard putting it under the three numbers in the price, and the same with the trip using four numbers. No overlapping of the numbers so it fits together sort of like a puzzle. If you have them all lined up in the correct locations you win all three prizes. PatrickRox80, make your move!
-
Hoo boy, this is tough. They could be anything. Peanut gallery?
-
*shrugs*
I'd rule out 62/5275/764 (I refuse to think a prize of a trip ends in a 5), 625/27/5764 (Snorkeling gear is way more than $30), and 625/2757/64 (Trip better be over $5,000).
From 62/527/5764, 6252/75/764, and 6252/757/64, I couldn't really help. I think the first one could be thrown out, since surfboards are a bit pricey, but good luck choosing between the other two. If I absolutely had to pick either one of those, I would choose the former, since it makes each of the smaller prizes a little more expensive, but you could just as easily read the psychology for a slightly cheaper setup.
-
Works for me:
Swim Gear: $75
Surfboard: $764
Bahamas: $6,252
-
He says that swim gear is $75
*DING*
He says that surfboard is $764
*DING*
And he says that trip is $6,252
*DING* *crowd cheers*
(https://i.imgur.com/HT49L6z.png)
No, no, no! Haven't you ever watched older episodes before? We're just lighting up his guesses. NOW I ask you, is he right?
*DINGDINGDINGDINGDING*
NOW you can cheer all you want. He's a winner! Congratulations PatrickRox80! Enjoy that wonderful prize package! We will have our Showcases coming up in just a few moments stay tuned!

I guess this show didn't turn out as bad as I thought. I wish I could've stuck with the full hour but I didn't gather enough interest I guess. I don't know if it was the concept/theme for this show or if I'm lacking in something that other hosts have that I don't but if I cant generate enough interest I don't know how many more shows I'll do. Thank you to those of you who participated. Here is a rundown of the Showcases:

I thought it was a great show! Well-hosted, well-presented, and most importantly it felt like the show. Not every show needs a "special" theme.
As for the number of people signing up--I don't think it's a reflection on your hosting style, most of the shows have been getting around 6-9 signups recently. It's a good number for a half-hour show.
I think the half-hour shows work with the number of signups the section is currently getting. I don't know how many prospective hosts are in the queue, but as long as there's enough hosting interest to meet demand I think the section will be fine with half-hour shows.
The other alternative I can think of is rather than having a HYO going at all times, making HYOs a seasonal thing that opens during the summer months.
-
Coming in late here, but just a random side note. I’ve been too busy lately to participate, or else I would totally sign up! I appreciate that the spirit of HYO is still going strong, even if participation is down. I think some of that is largely due to some of us simply having busier schedules than we used to, combined with there being such an abundance of content out there these days for consumption across the web. Plus overall site activity isn’t exactly at an all-time high, which may be due in large part to the former potential issues I just addressed. I think keeping HYO open year-round is fine. If we go an extended period without a show, then so be it. I’d rather have quality over quantity, anyway.
