Title: 1980s car cue questions
Post by: hollowmale on September 05, 2006, 12:45:31 AM
I am familiar with the lovable car cue heard from clips of 1980s Temptation goof (https://depot.northwestern.edu/smw793/public_html/tempty-goof.wmv) (click right link to download and "Save Target As") and hilarious Any Number contestant from '90s with TPIR T-shirt (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjDJ-xFRF-E). I have question to ask:

* What title is this car cue called?

* How come this cue never played again? I love that cue, the best of the 1983 music cues.

* When was the last time it was played?

* What websites can I get this cue from?

As for whether you like it or not, I don't need your answers as necessary. Reply them if you wish, but all I'm asking is trivial.

I'm unaware of the name of that cue (if it has one, most don't) and where on the Internet you can find it (I wish I knew).

I can tell you that this cue is in the active rotation and I've heard it several times during Season 34.

Thanks! Which episodes for which games, so I can look up?

I don't think anyone keeps tabs on that.

The Spelling Bee cue

According to FAQ, Spelling Bee premiered in 1988 while the cue was still in the 1984 clip. Is there another way to call this?

With the possible exception of some of the newer production music that has been added over the past few years, the folks in the music room do not have names for any of the cues used on TPiR.  Instead, music is referenced by an identification number that is given to each cue.  For instance, the music commonly used for Race Game is IDed as 200A.  The older cue that normally plays with a laptop or a GPS one-bid is M-2.  I could go on and on...

So, what many call the Spelling Bee cue is really identified by a number (which I do not have).  The term "Spelling Bee cue" probably started around here.

Out of curiosity Marc, Do you happen to have any sort of list of 'official' cue numbers that you could post? It would be interesting to see.

I don't, but if you wanted to ask me about a specific cue or two I can probably find out for you.

As a matter of fact, it did.  I think Frank coined it.

Yup. I thought at first it sounded like a ridiculous title for a cue because of the historical trivia here. But eventually, I got used to it now because it made others referring it easier than it already is. But maybe I'll call it the "1980s car cue", but were there any car cues premiered in the '80s? Maybe Van cue, unless it was released in the '70s. Hmm... maybe someone will start a poll on picking one of the titles to make us referring it very often, but that's just me.

As for the cue itself, I think we need to keep track on it somehow, and hopefully the newbies of this cue will like it more than most trashy cues premiered in 2000s.

EDIT: I made some changes here. Nothing else said.
