Title: How Game shows will be affected by high gas prices this year
Post by: catdogwheel on July 17, 2006, 04:43:15 PM
This is a post to tell you how game shows will be affected by gasoline sales. (Note: None of this is real. I'm just making it up. Some of the stuff may not even make sense either. Just try to have some fun with it.)

-On Wheel of Fortune vowels will now cost $250 for each time the vowel is on the board.

-Jeopardy has now decided if you are "in the red" by the end of the main game, that is how much you owe.

-The Lucky 7 game is now being played with 7 pennies instead of 7 dollars.

-Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune have found a way to connect the podiums to the contestant's bank account. This way Wheel won't have to use all of the show's money. You better hope you don't land on a bankrupt. ;)

If you can think of something that is totally bogus, and appropriate, post one.

Instead of creating new games from scratch, they just recycled old ones, like in The NEW One Away:

[insert contestant name here], you have the chance to win up to $5,000 playing Plinko!

Bogus?  Yes.  Appropriate?  You be the judge.

Family Feud -- Your family still plays for $20,000 in Fast Money (if you make it there), but if you win that, it comes out of the pockets of the family you beat to get there.

When one goes on "Press Your Luck", and you hit the Whammy, not only does he take your cash and prizes, but he steals your wallet and maxes out your credit cards. Ouch! :-D

Yes, it's been over a month since the last one of these, but here's another one I thought of just now:

The $1.98 Beauty Show:  If this show ever comes back now, it will come back as "The $1.*39* Beauty Show".

Well, we might not have to worry about this thread anymore. Some news reports say that by Thanksgiving, gas prices could go back down to $2.00 a gallon. Here's the link for proof:

Anyone actually remember when $2.00 a gallon was considered outrageous back in 2004 (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile3.txt)?

Thank goodness; we can finally raise that show back up to $1.98!

Or should that be 1.98 9/10? *ducks*

Heck I remember when we complained about 2˘ a gallon!  The year was nineteen dickety-two.  We had to say, "dickety," because the Kaiser had stolen our word, "twenty..."

Family Feud will offer $2,000 in Fast Money.

The Price is Right will offer $10,000 in Plinko, the center slot is worth $2,000. The only four pricing games to offer cars are Golden Road, Triple Play (2 four-digit prizes and a car), Three Strikes, and Lucky Seven. Cars will always be worth less than $20,000. Showcases will never be worth more than $25,000.

Wheel of Fortune will get rid of its bonus round.

Jeopardy will get rid of the Daily Double feature.

Aww, Dad.  We can be more creative than that!

*Lucky $even will be retired.  Too expensive to drive out the car onto the stage.

*Ten Chances will go from offering one 2-digit prize to eight.

*Three Strikes will go back to the old format of using all three strikes in the bag.  However, part of the current rules will stay in place, so that when a strike is drawn, it is returned to the bag.

*Spelling Bee starts to be played only for trucks.  As a result, you must now spell "TRUCK" to win.

*A $363 bottle of wine will be used in Check-Out.

* Temptation will go back to tempting with SP's instead of 3/4-digit prizes.

* Any Number will no longer repeat the first number on the board; instead, the dollars will be eliminated from the Piggy Bank (making it two digits instead of three).

* Hole in One will now have a windmill.

* The studio lights will now be turned off for Bonkers, forcing you to rely on the flashing lights on the prop itself to see the board/plunger.

To save wear and tear on the carpet, Rich Fields will no longer tell contestants to "Come on Down".  All bidding will now be done from their seats.

Name tags will be re-used.

Contestants not appearing on stage will receive a pat on the back and will get to keep their name tags.

The "Lose Everything" signs from Pass the Buck will be added to the Big Wheel.

Contestants must now get $1.09 in one spin or a combination of two spins to win the $1000 and bonus spin.

The putter for Hole in One is replaced with a crooked pool cue.

Naming rights for some games will be sold to the highest bidder, like college football bowl games:
  GoldenPalace.com Road
  Kool-Ade Fruit Punch-a-Bunch
  Bank of America Check Game
  David Blaine's Magic Number
  Head-on Hit Me

(sigh) I really shouldn't eat pizza this late at night!

There we go.  And no one's ego was bruised in the process, either.  :-D

How about Clock Game where you will win $100 after winning two prizes?

Or worse... Clock Game where you should say an exact price to win a trip as a first prize, but you end up winning nothing instead because you can't say it right? And then 4-digit prizes will be offered as first prizes, leading to overloaded losing streaks in the future.

Jeopardy will now be known as "Classic Jeopardy" - including the return of rounds of $10-$50 and $20-$100 answers.

As for TPIR, the most expensive trips offered will be to San Diego and Las Vegas.

You suddenly see a trend toward very dark studios, like the last couple of seasons of American Gladiators, but not for effect--no, but because energy prices are too high.
