Title: A Very Unique Half Hour Price is Right: Episode 1 (THE END/COMMENTS WELCOME)
Post by: UniquePerspective on February 11, 2009, 11:36:17 PM
Yep, I'm finally throwing my hat into the ring of HYO'ing. This is my first ever show, a Half Hour version of everybody's favorite game show with the word "Price" in the title.  Hopefully it will be a lot of fun and people win a lot.

The Rules:

1. Any member of Golden-Road.net is eligible to play as long as they meet the eligibility rules.

2. All contestants shall have 24 hours to submit one bids, make decisions on pricing games, and place a showcase bid. Miss a deadline in contestant's row once, you will receive a warning and an automatic $1 million dollar bid. Miss a deadline in contestant's row twice, and you are out of the show. If however you miss a deadline but get in your bid before I post the warning or before the next contestant in the row submits their bid, your bid will still count without warning. Miss a deadline in a pricing game or the showcases even once, and you are out, simple as that. However, if you get it in before I post telling you your fate, again, your action will still count without consequences.

3. When you are called on down to contestant's row, I will send you a PM to let you know that you have been picked. At that point onward, it is your responsibility to follow what is going on with the game. If for any reason you feel you cannot continue with your current place in the show for any amount of time, send a PM to me and I'll figure out what to do on a case by case basis.

4. You may give advice in any part of the show except for the One-Bids. This is to ensure everybody has a fair chance to play a pricing game.

That's it. A lot of these you probably have seen before, but if you have any questions about these rules or anything else about the show, feel free to ask me. Now the fun. I need at least six people to play in my little shindig, although I will allow as many to sign up as interested within the deadline. Speaking of which, this little shindig shall start at Friday at around 11 PM, so be sure to sign up by then. Also as a note, I have absolutely no graphics knowledge whatsoever, so the most you're going to see is fancy text, that's it.

And on that note, let the sign ups begin!  :-D

Fancy graphics are overrated.  All it takes are a clean slate and a handful of markers.  :)

And the actual retail price of the gold is...$837. And the winner is Kev. Kev, please join me up here on this stage, while you play the first game of this pricing extravaganza.

SAFE CRACKERS (pretend it flashes)

Hello Kev. A pleasure to have you up here. And as you might be able to tell by my makeshift sign made by a guy named Jeff (Jeff's job status is in limbo with signs like this), we are playing Safe Crackers. Open the safe and you can win some nice things. And what things are those, announcer dude?

*safe opens*

First, it's this new guitar! From Gibson, it's the Acoustic J-185 Modern Classic. Be part of a music tradition with Gibson, one of the longest running guitar names. And second, it's a year's supply of chocolates! You will receive two 36 piece Godiva Gold Ballotin boxes of chocolate a month for a whole year. Enjoy one of the finest luxuries in chocolate and one of the most delicious, from Godiva. It's a Safe Crackers prize package worth...$3,896!

And now the safe closes.

*safe closes*

Now that the safe is closed, you must open it again to get the prizes. And how do you open it, you may ask? Well, the safe has a combination, which is the same as that year's supply of chocolate. The first dial represents the first number in the price, the second dial represents the second number, and the third dial, as you might guess, represents the third number. Use each number only once, and get the right price of the chocolates, and you win everything. Now, get a safe crackin' Kev! (When you make your guess, I'll put your guess for each dial at the top of the little triangle. It's the best I could do with no graphics):

    0           0            0
6    9      6     9     6     9
Title: Re: A Very Unique Half Hour Price is Right: Episode 1 (INTRO/IUFB #1)
Post by: Kev347 on February 14, 2009, 07:32:03 PM
Well, good to be up on stage. I'm a fatty and I eat a lot of chocolates, so this should be a pretty easy game.

Usually the prices in this game end in 0, so I'm gonna assume this one follows that rule. That leaves $690 or $960. Since I'm receiving a supply of chocolates that can be divided by 12 months - $960 divides neatly by 12 into $80 a month (so the 36 piece boxes of chocolate are then $40 each, which makes sense), while $690 does not. Therefore, I'm gonna go with $960 as my guess. (Yes, I'm pretentious and felt the need to explain my entire reasoning there).

So $960 it is.
Title: Re: A Very Unique Half Hour Price is Right: Episode 1 (PG#1)
Post by: UniquePerspective on February 14, 2009, 07:35:52 PM
   9          6           0
0    6    9     0    6    9

$960 is your guess. Alright. Now, I would ask you do to do this yourself, but since you're not hear with the invisible safe, I'll do it myself. I'll...turn it to left. Then I'll...turn it to the right. Then I'll...turn it to the left half way. Then I'll...turn it to the right just slightly. And then, I'll try to open the door. Will this safe open? Do you win?

*tries to open safe*

*door opens*

*DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING*

Yes, you are a winner Kev! You win all this stuff, and I'll shake the hand of the first ever winner on this show! *shakes Kev's hand* More, more I say, coming up soon!

Announcer dude, I have an Army. I have a Pathy. And I have a Rob. Who do you have for me?

I have a Flerb. Flerbert419! Come on down! You're the next contestant on The Price is Right!

Here comes Flerb, doing something we can't see through the computer screen, but coming on down. And we're going to assume he got here in Contestant's Row in one piece. Welcome Flerb, and here is the next item up for bids!

It's a wine cooler! From Danby, this Silhouette 27 bottle wine cooler keeps your drinks fresh and lets people enjoy a tasty cold beverage.

And Flerb, the first bid on that is yours!

Bidding order:

Flerb:    Pathy:   rob:  Army:

Well, while the rest of Flerb comes on down, we'll still add in his bid of $1699.

$999 for pathy. And also, I received a message from rob saying that he'd be heading out of town today, and may not be around for the deadline, so he pre-submitted a bid to me of $1875. (If anyone like Frank needs to see the PM for yourself, I'll send it to you)

Flerb:$1699    Pathy:$999   rob:$1875  Army:

And Army, the last bid is yours.

Flerb:$1699    Pathy:$999   rob:$1875  Army:$1

One dollar for Army. Another series historic moment, the first $1 bid of my series. And, the actual retail price is...$800, and Army and his one dollar bid did it! Army, come up these stairs to our stage, for the next game in our show. Again, we're going to assume you made it up here in one piece or will do so by the time you post.

Hello Army. Now, I know you are someone who has observed a lot of Price is Right, both the actual show and these online versions. So I think you'll know the feeling people get when someone offers this prize!

It's a new car! It's a 2009 Dodge Caliber SE, comes with standard features. The Dodge Caliber!

It is a dodge Caliber, and you will win it if you can put these numbers in the right slots in the car:

Stack the Deck

( )   ( )   ( )    ( )     ( )

4 8 7 1 2 0 6

Of course, this may be a little tricky to do on your own. But, you can Stack the Deck in your favor, if you know anything about some of these items. What are the first two, announcer dude?

Make an energy drink on the go with this Propel Fit Powder Drink Mix (10 ct), and this jar of Santa Fe Chunky Salsa goes well with chips, tacos, and many others.

Salsa

One of those products is $2.99. Guess which one and you get a free number in the price of the car. So is it the powdered drink mix or the salsa?

He believes the powdered drink packets are $2.99. What is the price of them?

No. It was the salsa that was $2.99. But, you can still get a number in the price of the car with these products:

Alright. I believe I've recovered...enough from that to keep the show going. And to do that I need a name. Announcer dude, what is that name?

That name is 88JRFAN! Come on down! You're the next contestant on The Price is Right!

Here he comes down into contestants row. Sporting some sort of Nascar gear I reckon, and excited to get on down. And with 88 here, here is the next item up for bids.

It's a laptop computer! From Apple, it's the 15 inch Macbook Pro. This computer comes with 2.4 Gigahertz and 2GB memory. It is also immune to being shot by some people.

And 88, you have the first bid on that laptop. What do you bid?

So 88, you come up these steps here to me, while I give you one more chance at some nice things. Hello 88. Now, with you up here on this stage, and you ready to tackle the challenge of a pricing game with enthusiasm, I wanna give you this!

It's a pinball machine! It's the CSI pinball machine, featuring the voices of original cast members and mechanisms that resemble crime lab tools used on the show.

And now that you are here on stage, I would just like to ask one question. Are you Coming or Going? That will help you determine whether you get that pinball machine.

Jeff decided to get a little creative with the sign here since the real sign would be tricky to do. His job status is still in limbo though. At any rate you need to decide whether you're coming or going. If you're Coming, the price of the pinball machine is $4,475. If you're Going, the price of it is $5,744. So which price is it? Are you Coming, or Going?

The top winner in today's showcase, from the great nation of Canada and a winner of a pinball machine and laptop, 88JRFAN! And our runner up, from the U.S of A, and the winner of a guitar, chocolates and gold, Kev347!

Kev347    88JRFAN

Each of you shall have a fabulous showcase of prizes to bid on. And the one of you who bids closest to the actual retail price of their own showcase without going over shall win it. But, if you are the winner, and you come within $250 of your own showcase without going over, you shall win both showcases! And now, here is showcase #1.

This showcase shows you how you can bribe anybody. And one of the simplest ways of bribing somebody is by using one of the oldest methods. Cash, and you'll get $1000 of it!

But sometimes just cash isn't good enough. Sometimes you need something more specific, perhaps something visually appealing. Like the shiny metals in this diamond ring! From Kay Jewelers, it's the 14k Yellow Gold 1 Carat t.w 3-Stone Leo Diamond Ring, coming together in a beautiful ring to that special someone, from Kay Jewelers.

And in some cases, sometimes bribery can fail. And in those cases, you just need to get away and go to a new situation. And you can get there in your new...Ford Flex! It's the 2009 Ford Flex SEL FWD Crossover. Comes with standard features.

And this showcase, which teaches you lessons about life through bribery, can be yours IF...The Price is Right!

And 88, are you a biddin' or a passin'?

(still in shock after seeing the Flex and money) OMG!! I want that car so bad.

I will bid on this.

My bid is............ (looking into the crowd who are yelling suggestions). I have no idea how much Ford Flex's are. I could look it up but that's not honest.

I will try a safe bid. $28,229

$28,229 for 88.

Kev347    88JRFAN:$28,229

Alright, Kev, look at your showcase!

Your showcase tells the story of how Jeff, the sign maker of bad signs, got employed under my show! When Jeff first called for an interview, he realized the location was pretty close to his house. And he wanted to prove to the Unique Price is Right staff that he was in good shape. So he rode to the show in this new bike! From GT, the Aerostream bike lets you ride the road and get those pedals going. Don't forget your helmet.

And once Jeff got into the interview, people at first weren't impressed with his sign making abilities. But then Jeff mentioned an interesting fact. His bad signs were considered masterpieces of art in other nations and cultures, and they worshiped him as an artistic hero, most famously in...Australia! You and a guest will fly from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia, where you will spend 6 nights at the Park Hyatt Hotel. Enjoy famous sights such as the Sydney Opera House and see why the land down under is a fun land.

So, Jeff got his position as a sign maker. But sometimes he needed inspiration to get his bad signs going. So he hit the road and drove to the nearest science fair or Comic-Con whenever he needed to, since he used those signs as inspirations. And to get there, he used his brand new...JEEP! It's the 2009 Jeep Patriot. Comes with standard features.

And in the end, while Jeff's signs aren't the best, his eccentricness and assumed likeability will keep him along as long as Jordan is producing, and this showcase that shows his story can be yours IF...The Price is Right!

And Kev, what is your bid?

Hey Nique, for a first show this was incredibly well done! Thanks again for doing it. Everything was set up well, quick response times, etc. Not really that much I'd change. And didn't really mind the lack of graphics either, haha. Congrats 88!

The winners of the show:

88JRFAN: $40,651
Kev347: $4,783
PriceFanArmadillo: $800
Flerb, Pathy, and rob: You get a box of Jubilant Junk from the Emporium of Jubilant Junk, I just decided it now.

Fun stuff:
*88 completely ruled the day. Dominating all, and winning nearly 88% of all prizes won(And I am NOT making that percent up). Good job 88 for dominating so much!*
*I was expecting Stack The Deck to be a challenge, but not THAT much of one. Maybe I need to loosen up a little if I want some other items won.*
*I also wasn't expecting to be done in a week for my first show. Thank you to EVERYBODY for being so prompt, and helping me move this along.*

What'd you all think of the show? As I said, comments and feedback are appreciated.

No, I'm pretty sure you just needed someone who actually watches the show more than I do to be playing it.  :)

Trouble is, 'Nique, that by its very nature, Stack the Deck is a ridiculously difficult game.

I think I meant it more with the grocery products. I know even with 3 right it can be challenging. Still, what's done is done now, and I'm happy I COULD include a game like Stack the Deck on my first show.

It can be, but the way you set it up, it would have been a slam dunk if I'd gotten two right.  (As opposed to, say, Frank's, where even with all three it STILL would have been a complete toss-up...)
