Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: Mallory16 on June 04, 2006, 10:09:20 PM
tpir, that's not quite how It's Optional is played.  You need to get within $100 of the car.  I adjusted the amount to $250 for inflation when I did the game, though you may adjust how you see fit, but even with only 7 options, doesn't needing to get the price on the nose make it overly difficult?

And if you want the picture to show up, you have to upload it to a website.  Or get a site to upload it to if you don't have one.
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: Futuregsh on June 04, 2006, 10:41:36 PM
What is the base price of the first car and what is the price of the higher priced car?  Also, yes, the range used to be within $100 without going over to win both cars.  And if 3 and only 3 options equal the price, hmmm...
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: tpiradam on June 05, 2006, 04:25:41 PM
Sorry on the lack of info. 3 options will equal $1810 but 2 opytons are the same price. The base price is $12,195 ($11,990 American). Sorry but my option prices are Canadian too. Sorry about the range. Since the options are not very low priced, I will make the range $250 above or below. You only need to pick 3.

OK The Automatic Transmission

(http://C:\Documents and Settings\Adam Bourre\My Documents\My Pictures\optionAV.jpg)

The Automatic Trans. is $950 and leaves you only $610 away from the range.

The ABS is $565. You are now only $45 away from the range. If you pick something  that is at least $545, you win both cars with whatever option you would like. (Just to make explaining easier.)

Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: Garvin8r on June 10, 2006, 12:15:55 AM
How about that?  Now I regret that I regretted picking a 5!

Something tells me that there's a 9 in the price of that range.

OK, we've got a 3, a 4, and a 5.  Let's see if the 6 continues my lucky streak.

Number 6, please.

I know I'm not playing, but two things. It'd help immensely to know the first digit of the price (as there are only 4 prizes, I assume it's a gimme), and also are you pricing this in $CDN = Canadian Dollars??? That'd be a worse trick than any The Dob's EVER used!

Use $US prices from the show recaps, or go to the maker's website and select US prices. All of the prizes I've offered have been priced to zip code 90036, just as they would be on the actual show. (Not just cars, this applies to any website that asks for a zip code setting, like drugstore.com for Suppliment and/or Remedy, or for determining grocery prices, many of which are higher in California than they would be in, say, Biloxi).

Um, tpiradam, you MUST go on to the fourth item and reveal it.  The object of the game is to save at least $1.00 in FOUR purchases, not reach more than $1.00 and win.  Technically, if the Cleaner is over priced by 30 cents, he still loses (though unlikely).
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: BuddyTom on June 28, 2006, 11:51:20 PM
Much as I like winning, I would never want to claim a win that I didn't deserve. I want that cleaner to be more than $4.09!!
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: Futuregsh on June 29, 2006, 12:37:27 AM
Obviously BuddyTom, I say that as a matter of game play, not as a slight against you or to prevent a win for you.

Absolutely. What I meant is that I want to win by the rules of the game when properly played (unless someone sticks the wrong numbers in Switcheroo on the set... :-D ), not just win for the sake of winning.
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: tpiradam on June 29, 2006, 11:06:22 AM
Sorry about that. The cleaner is marked $4.29. Actual price:

$4.09! You have lost $0.20 but...

You have still won with $1.00 in the bank.

I apologise for all of the screw-ups in my show. This is my first time doing this and hopefully my next show will be better. I am open to suggestions and some help for what I can do to improve my next show. Anyways, Madonna it is your turn to spin the wheel.

Post by: Mallory16 on July 12, 2006, 03:57:23 PM
Considering you have no score to beat, I don't think your second spin will be "needed" (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile2.txt).
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: styleguy on July 12, 2006, 03:59:36 PM

Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: Mallory16 on July 12, 2006, 04:01:10 PM
Technically, though, you could stand on the nickel (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile2.txt).
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: styleguy on July 12, 2006, 04:05:00 PM
I could, but I will decide against that.  If I stay on a nickel, my opponent has a 19/20 odds of beating me.
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: Mallory16 on July 12, 2006, 04:10:10 PM
I understand that.  I'm just saying that the "if needed" isn't really needed, since tpiradam can't decide what's needed or not.  As ridiculous as it feels for us hosts to ask if you want to spin again on a nickel or 95¢--and I can assure you it does--we still have to, just in case.
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: styleguy on July 13, 2006, 02:20:40 PM
Yes, for legality's sake.

Okay styleguy, your spin looks like it will land on...

90

Based on the last couple of posts, it is pretty obvious you dont want to spin again so it is BuddyTom's turn to spin. You have to beat $0.90
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: BuddyTom on July 14, 2006, 06:21:42 PM
14, and if needed, 8.
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR
Post by: tpiradam on July 15, 2006, 09:15:07 AM
Now it looks like you could beat him; will it be enough?...

75

Now you have to spin again and you're looking for $0.25. will it get here...

45

Nope. Sorry BuddyTom. styleguy, you will be in our showcase against Garvin8r.

Garvin8r, you are the top winner, therefore you make choose to bid on the first showcase or pass it to styleguy and wait for the second one.

And if you don't know much about Canada and want to learn more, how about a visit to Toronto!

You and a guest will fly round-trip from Buffalo, NY to Toronto where you will enjoy a 6-night stay at the Westin Harbour Castle, located along the Waterfront.

Now how about a souvenir to take home with you, like mabye a Canadian-only Car!!!

Your showcase is a showcase that is fit for a family, begining with this new living room by Ashley Furniture.

And since families enjoy vacations together, how about a trip to Ireland. You and 3 others will travel from Buffalo, NY to Ireland where you will enjoy a 6-night stay at the Fitzpatrick Minratti (spelling?)

And to take your family almost any where...

A new minivan!!!

styleguy, what do you bid?
Title: Re: tpiradam's Classic PiR

And Garvin8r, your bid was $27,300. The actal retail price of your showcase is...

Congradulations Garvin8r and thanks to all of the participants and to those who signed up. I apologize that I was a little dissorganized at times and that my show wasn't as great as someone like JM's, Frank's or Gatorman's but I will try to do better for my next show.

Well, check another item off my to-do list here.

Thanks, tpiradam.  That showcase reminds me, I'd love to take a trip back up there.  I've been to Toronto once, on a high school band trip after senior year.
