CBS apparently didn't want James for the daytime show, for whatever reason.
I seem to recall seeing that it was Bud Grant, CBS daytime head in 1972, that specifically went after Barker for the show.

The 2001 version is better known in the game show world as CASINO (Card Sharks In Name Only) or Card Guppies.

Ranks right up there with Temptation and Tic Tac Dough '90 as one of the worst game show revivals.

I think it's interesting to note that the scoreboards the players could see used the original vane display like they did when the podiums changed for the 1991-1992 season of
"Jeopardy!" so the 6 looks like a lowercase b and the 9 looks like a lowercase q

They look more like illuminated segments which J! actually did switch to in 1991. Vane displays have flippers which show the digits.

If you didn't realize Bullard's co-host was named Tammy by the end of each episode, given he only said her name approximately 5,000 times per show even when unnecessary to do so, something would have been wrong.

Just to clarify, what qualifies a GR.net folk for the playoffs?

(A) four grocery items and potentially four free numbers; (B) six numbers to choose from instead of seven; (C) both.

And if they tied outside the $250 range, they would each win their own Showcase.

Price is Right Recaps! / Re: TPiR Recap - 5/25/2018

Hi,

Understood, but given that the vast majority of contestants incorrectly put the cheapest in the mailbox (the 'problem' with the game),  just never make a setup where the cheapest item could be in a correct solution, and then you can announce "least to most is not correct", thus strengthening the game?

But if the vast majority of contestants put the cheapest in the mailbox, and that is the correct answer, then there's no problem.

Hi,

Tino, I know he often says that the items are not NECESSARILY lowest to highest (which is often ignored in the heat of the moment).  There'd be a BIG difference in flat out stating that they aren't.

Again, I know that on occasion least to most has worked.  I'm submitting it'd be easy for the producers to not make a least>most solution possible, and tell the contestant that least>most won't work, as an adjustment to what I thought most people didn't like about the game.

I thought the overwhelming consensus here was that 'PTR stinks', 'retire PTR'.  I thought today's playing was a great time to present a simple adjustment that requires one sentence to be said.

  Retreating to my cave.  :-/
