Title: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1
Post by: Teddy on July 28, 2015, 11:11:52 AM
Here we go again with the 24th installment of my long-running HYO series!

Before we start, I want to remind you that I'm doing something new for this show. As a result, there will be no TPG, meaning that all you have to do is to tell me you're in. Once the show starts, I will give you a hint as to what you should expect in the course of the episode. However, if you want to take a guess at what it is, you're more than welcome to.

Otherwise, the 48-hour time limit is still in effect for bidding, guessing, and other activities going on. And I will need at least nine players to take part.

So who's going to come on down and join me on this special episode?

Just a heads up in advance. If I am called to "COME ON DOWN!" please be advised I am in middle of moving to new place and may not respond right away. Also I am having surgery on August 12th to have tonsils removed and my nose fixed as I have a deviated septum that needs corrected.

GEORGE GRAY: Here it comes! From the Bob Barker Studio at CBS in Hollywood, it's The Price is Right!

CheckGameMeBob, come on down!

Bandon23, come on down!

Cool Steve, come on down!

And SuperSweeper, come on down!

You are the first four contestants on The Price is Right! (TPIR Theme 2007) And now, here's your host, Teddy!

(enters from Door #2, takes microphone from Rachel)

(cheers and applause)

Rachel Reynolds is here, and welcome to the show! Say hello to our fabulous announcer over there, George Gray!

GEORGE: Good morning, Teddy! Nice of you to tune in, America! Hi Mom!

We have a special episode planned for today, because we're going to do something that hasn't occurred in 43 years! We will find out what it is later on in the show, but first, let's see the first prize up for bids on The Price is Right!

GEORGE: It's a fabulous card table! (Amber and Manuela model it) (Eric) (applause) Play all of your favorite card games, including blackjack and poker, on this deluxe card table, finished in fine polished oak. Includes eight chairs.

Thanks, Amber Lancaster and Manuela Arbelaez! Nice to see you two, as always!

AMBER: Nice to see you too, Teddy!

MANUELA: Gracias, Teddy! Nice to see you as well.

Now that card table will go to the one of you four who bids nearest to the actual retail price without going over.

BIDDING ORDER: CheckGameMeBob, Bandon23, Cool Steve, SuperSweeper

Let's start the bidding off with CheckGameMeBob! What do you say?

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(Walking 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Now, earlier in the show we mentioned that we were going to do something special, and now, Cool Steve, you're about to be a part of that something special. But first, George is going to tell us what you could win.

(2003 Plinko harp stinger)

GEORGE: Cool Steve, you now have a chance to win up to $25,000... (Race Game Curtain rises to reveal new game) ...playing Pot of Gold!

That's right, Cool Steve, you are going to play our brand-new game, Pot of Gold! Now here's how the game works: You have four pairs of grocery products to contend with. We will show you a price, and then you have to match that price to the correct grocery product in the pair. And for each product you get correct, you will earn a pick from these ten pots. Here's the breakdown: There's a pot with the $25,000, one that has $10,000, two that have $5,000, two that have $1,000, and four that have $500. So now that we have that out of the way, we can play the game. George, tell us about the first pair.

(2003 SP/GP Cue)

GEORGE: First, we have a medium jar of Francesco Rinaldi pasta sauce, and a carton containing a dozen Eggland's Best eggs.

Now, here's the price that you must match to earn a pick from the ten pots...

$1.99

...which is $1.99. Does that go with the pasta sauce or the eggs?
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - IUFB1
Post by: Cool Steve on August 03, 2015, 04:05:40 PM
I'm going with the pasta sauce
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1
Post by: Teddy on August 04, 2015, 11:14:21 AM
Is $1.99 the price of the pasta sauce? Light it up!

$1.99

DING!

(applause)

Yes, it is! So now you're guaranteed at least one pick from the pots later on. Now, I turn your attention to the next two products, and what are they, George?

(Cue 40)

GEORGE: Next up is a medium bottle of V8 Splash fruit juice, and medium box of Ritz crackers.

$4.19

Which one of those is $4.19? The fruit juice or the crackers?
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1

The Crackers

You say the crackers are $4.19, and you are...

$4.19

DING!

...right again! You now have two picks, and we move on to the next two products. George?

(1994 SP Cue)

GEORGE: This time, we have a large DiGiorno pizza, and a medium tub of Breyers ice cream.

$5.99

Is it the pizza or the ice cream that is $5.99?
Title: Re: The HYO (and G-R) situation

i'm going for the pizza teddy
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1
Post by: Teddy on August 14, 2015, 11:44:55 AM
First off, let me say congratulations to Adam for being the new moderator of the HYO section! Hopefully, this will mean that my series and others will be allowed to continue for Season 44 and beyond. If I had known that Jordanar18 would not be active sooner, I would've offered to take over, but maybe next time I will be Adam's successor. And I wish Jordanar18 all the best. With that being said...

You say that the pizza is $5.99, and...

$5.99

DING!

...right you are! So you get three picks, and we move on to the final pair. George, what are they?

(Spring Waltz)

GEORGE: Finally, we have a four-pack of delicious Greek yogurt, and a medium can of Pringles potato chips.

$2.79

And either the yogurt or the potato chips are $2.79; which one is it?
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1
Post by: Cool Steve on August 15, 2015, 04:10:51 AM
the potato chips
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1
Post by: Teddy on August 15, 2015, 10:43:27 AM
Are the potato chips $2.79?

$2.79

DING!

Yes, they are, and you get four picks from the ten pots. Now pick four numbers from 1 to 10, and good luck to you!

Very well then, your picks have been made. Now let's go to the first pot you selected, 1. And in there we find...

$500

DING!

...$500. Now that's the worst you can do in this game, so I assume you want to give that up and look into the next pot?
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1

DING-DING-DING-DING!

...$1,000! That is twice what you had before, but the same options apply here. Keep the $1,000, or give it up and look into the next pot?

Here's how the game works: You will fill in the blanks with these numbers from 0 to 9. None of the numbers repeat, and you will have one left over after you're done. The objective is to get at least one price correct, and you can take as many turns as you need to get it done, as long as you have at least one number right. That's the most important part of the game, you need to have at least one number right in order to continue. Now you can win one of the prizes, you can win both, and you can win neither. And to start you off, I will give you the first number in the price of the car, which is...

Very well then, you have $18,325 for the car, and $6497 for the appliances. Now comes the question, are these prices correct?

No, but as I said, you will get another turn as long as you have at least one number right. If there are any numbers right, would you please light them up?

SPINNING ORDER:
JustBecause ($1,349)

Cool Steve ($13,350)

First things first: We need from each of you two numbers from 1 to 20, and your minimum stopping score. Good luck to all three of you!

Post by: Teddy on August 31, 2015, 12:16:51 PM
And the spinning will start with JustBecause.

(wheel beeps)

Contestant nearest to one dollar without going over will be in the Showcase at the end of the show. Let's see what the first spin of the first Showcase Showdown is going to be worth. Hey, how about 70 cents?

70

And he says that's it.

.70

DING!

Now the task of beating 70 cents goes to CheckGameMeBob.

(wheel beeps)

Will he do it with one spin? Find out as the wheel is spinning. And it's going to slow down and come to a complete stop on...

65

...65 cents, spin it again.

(wheel beeps)

If you get 35, you will have the dollar and a Bonus Spin. Here it comes, and there it goes, and this looks like trouble, which it is.

55

MRRRRRRRRP!

Thanks for playing, CheckGameMeBob, and hopefully we'll see you again. Now it's Cool Steve's turn to spin.

(wheel beeps)

He's hoping to beat 70 cents to get into the Showcase. 90...a dollar...stop on 80...oh, just a little too fast for that.

35

You got 35 cents, so spin it again.

(wheel beeps)

35 to 65 will keep you around. 35 to tie, 40 to 65 for the win. And I believe that you're going to be the winner with 45 cents.

45

.80

(Dig We Must 2007)

Cool Steve is going to the Showcase with 80 cents! If you'd like tickets to the show, just go to CBS.com (http://www.cbs.com) for all the details. That's CBS.com. We'll have three more pricing games ready to go, and you're probably wondering if they'll be new games? Well, there's only one way to find out, and it's on the other side of this break. Stay right there!

This time I'll say $58.

You're going with $58...

$37 $58
$37
TIMER

BUZZ!

...and you're wrong again. So far, you've eliminated only one wrong price. Let's try to make it two with this last prize. What is it, George?

(Cue 62)

GEORGE: Create hundreds of your favorite drinks with this easy-to-use juicer.

Are you going with $26 or $59?

I'll say $59.
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24: PG6

Is the juicer $59?

$26 $59
$59
JUICER

DING!

Yes, it is, and now we'll shut down another wrong price. Which one is it?

$17,495
$18,270
$19,360
$20,980
$22,395

ZAP!

The Jeep is not $20,980, so we get rid of that.

$17,495
$18,270
$19,360
$22,395

DING!

And now you have a 1-in-4 chance of winning. Not exactly the best odds, but at least we got rid of two wrong prices. For the win, is the price of that Jeep $17,495, $18,270, $19,360 or $22,395?
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1
Post by: Hag on September 21, 2015, 09:43:08 PM
I will choose $19,360.
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24: PG6
Post by: Teddy on September 22, 2015, 11:09:27 AM
Very well then, you choose $19,360 as the price of the Jeep.

$17,495
$18,270
$19,360
$22,395

DING!

And if that's the right price, you will be driving it home. So the question is, are you a winner with that choice?

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(TPIR Theme 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Congratulations, that's your Jeep over there! We'll see you at the Wheel. Well, I told you at the start of the show that we would make some history, and we did by playing six new games in a row. Showcase Showdown #2 is coming up after these messages.

Here we go again with the second Showcase Showdown! In a moment we shall see which one of these three players will move on to the Showcase round at the end of the show.

SPINNING ORDER:
SuperSweeper ($6,755)
Priceboi1983 ($7,974)
Hag ($21,799)

You know what to do now: I need three numbers from 1 to 20 (two regular, one Bonus Spin/Spin-Off), plus your minimum stopping score. Good luck to all three of you!
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1
Post by: SuperSweeper on September 22, 2015, 11:46:54 AM
1 and 2 for regular spin, and 3 for bonus spin.  I'll stop on 70 and above.
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1
Post by: Priceboi1983 on September 22, 2015, 11:08:03 PM
I'll pick 11 for 1st spin

18 for second spin.

I will stay on .75 or higher.

If a tie/spin off I pick 7
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1
Post by: Hag on September 23, 2015, 08:56:16 AM
8 and 15 for the regular spin, 4 for the bonus spin and stop on 80 cents.
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24: SCSD2
Post by: Teddy on September 23, 2015, 04:46:36 PM
SuperSweeper, step over there and spin that Wheel!

(wheel beeps)

And there goes the first spin of the second Showcase Showdown. Let's see where it stops on...could it be 90 cents? Just one more...OH!!!

25

(audience groans)

Right between the two big numbers, you just got to hate that. Needless to say, I think you will spin again.

(wheel beeps)

If you can get 75, you will have a dollar, but I don't think you'll get that. Let's hope for something good, but not 90, and definitely not a dollar...

5

Well, you're still in the game with 30 cents.

.30

DING!

And now it's Priceboi1983's turn to spin.

(wheel beeps)

All you need to do is beat 30 cents in order to become the leader. And will it be a dollar? STOP ON IT...OH!!!

15

(audience groans)

There are lots of close calls in this Showcase Showdown, and this time, you must spin again.

(wheel beeps)

Now we're looking for 20 to 85. That's a pretty wide range, though 15 will also keep you around. And are you kidding me? Another 15 cents!

15

So you're tied with SuperSweeper for the time being, and Hag will try to beat you both.

(wheel beeps)

If Hag doesn't beat 30 cents, there will be a spinoff. But I don't think it's going to happen, because Hag is the winner with 80 cents.

80

.80

(Dig We Must 2007)

And as a result, Hag will be moving on to the Showcase round at the end of the show, which will begin on the other side of this break. Stay right there; you don't want to miss it!

After all those new pricing games, we've made it to the Showcase round with Hag as the Top Winner and Cool Steve as the Runner Up! Now guys, pay attention to the first Showcase, because it could go to either one of you. Here it is.

(Showcase '83)

GEORGE: This Showcase features prizes revealed as we look at the life of a music lover. For instance, Amber is such a big music fan that whenever she goes to parties, she pumps up the jams by playing them on her DJ equipment! (applause)

Have fun with your favorite tunes using this DJ equipment. Includes two turntables, a sound monitor, spotlights, Beats headphones by Dr. Dre and stereo speakers with subwoofers. Next, Rachel loves to have something with contemporary styling and a classic sound, and she has both with her new electric piano! (applause)

This Roland digital piano has a full 88-key keyboard, plus 100 different rhythms and instrument sounds for endless possibilities. Bench and AC adapter included. And finally, there's Manuela, who loves to drive her friends down the road while they sing along to the tunes that come from the sound system in this new car! (Car Cue '83) (cheers and applause)

It's the 2015 Scion xB, featuring a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, CVT automatic transmission, front-wheel drive, AM/FM/CD stereo with MP3 jack and SiriusXM Satellite Radio, cargo net and engine block heater. So it's DJ equipment, an electric piano and a new car. You will be a very happy music fan if you win this Showcase, but only if the price is right!

Now Hag, I need to know from you: Are you going to bid on this Showcase, or pass it to Cool Steve?
Title: Re: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 24 - PG1
Post by: Hag on September 23, 2015, 05:57:20 PM

COOL STEVE

DING!

Very well then, Hag, here is your Showcase!

(Showcase 2007)

GEORGE: Hag, your Showcase contains prizes revealed as we take you on an adventure in barbecue. And it starts with this new barbecue grill! (Manuela models it) (applause)

Prepare hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, kebabs and more with this stainless steel gas grill. Then we're sending you to a place that is well-known for its barbecue, which is fantastic Dallas! (Amber models it on plasma screen behind audience) (cheers and applause)

You and a guest will fly round-trip coach from Los Angeles to Dallas, Texas, for a six-night stay at the Radisson in downtown Dallas. Conveniently located near all the shops, museums and other major attractions, and offers a spectacular view of the Dallas skyline. Daily continental breakfast is included. Finally, we're giving you a set of wheels that will keep you in focus with your search for the perfect barbecue--specifically, this brand-new Ford Focus! (Rachel models it) (Grandeur) (cheers and applause)

It's the 2015 Ford Focus SE sedan, featuring a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with five-speed manual transmission, AM/FM/CD stereo with SiriusXM Satellite Radio, leather-wrapped steering wheel, backup camera, cargo net and engine block heater. So it's a barbecue grill, a trip to Dallas and a new car. This Showcase will be worth lots of tasty treats and plenty of smiles too, but only if the price is right!

And there it is, Hag, so what is your bid on that?

CheckGameMeBob ($4,750)
JustBecause ($1,349)

All six games were created by yours truly, and I welcome any and all feedback to them. Which ones were your favorite, and which ones need to be fine-tuned?

The zapping sound used to eliminate the wrong prices in Shutdown was originally used on the Tom Bergeron version of Hollywood Squares. It can be heard here (http://www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/h2-removekey.wav).

This is the final show of the Jordanar18 era. I, and all my fellow HYO hosts, would like to thank him for his wonderful time as moderator of the section, and wish the new moderator, Roadgeek Adam, the best of luck as he takes over. We need to make the Play Along section as successful as ever, so be sure to send your scripts to Adam for his approval; I'm sure he'll appreciate this.

Up next: Episode 25, my first new show in the Roadgeek Adam era. The floor is now open for your comments.

Teddy: A thought on Passcode.

I think that this game needs a second chance sort of like Line em Up, where after the first try, you're told how many numbers are right, and if you have any wrong, you won't know which are wrong.  Just a suggestion.

Teddy, much respect for another great HYO game. Here are my thoughts on each of your new pricing games.

Now onto future matters. Is there a line for the next HYO game(s)? I would certainly hate to see HYO die so inelegantly.

I can safely assume there is no one in line, as there can be a max of two shows going at once. It does surprise me just how long of a drought in shows we've had, but I certainly wouldn't consider this section dead by any stretch. In fact, I may even try to put together a show soon, if just to re-stir up interest in HYO.

I messaged Jordanar18 about getting in line myself for the same reason. I would love to see this section flourish in the way it did five or so years ago.

Yeah, he's no longer the purveyor of this section as of a couple of months ago. Roadgeek Adam is who you'll want to message. He's the new HYO mod.

Noted and done! The next time this game is played, I will modify it to include a second chance if the player doesn't get it right on the first try. After all, there have been real PGs with their rules being modified on the fly: i.e. the winning ranges on Bullseye, Check Game, Check-Out and Grocery Game, the first number given for free in most car games (with the exception of Money Game, whose free number is the middle one), the punching method in Punch-a-Bunch, etc.

Thanks for that wonderful suggestion!
