I've seen in one or two places it was related to the coronavirus, but Meatloaf's health had been on the decline for the past several years, about a half decade or so.
While he's been a pretty big deal in other areas, his version of the National Anthem in 1994 was top notch.
Saddened to see Louie Anderson go. Even though he's sixth in FF hosting rankings, I tuned into his version several times when it ran (can't believe it's been a couple decades). Prior to this version of the site, the hope of the show returning to the "classic version" in terms of "first to 300" were more than legit. While I was glad that they finally returned to that format, I pretty much never turned the TV off whenever Louie's Feud was on. The show was off the air for nearly a half decade, and despite a lot of the results, it was alright, and Anderson did okay with what he had to work with. Also, he was rather decent in terms of his stand up.

Do we really need to still have the thread on Betty White's death and 100th birthday a sticky topic? Especially as it's been a month since anyone made a post on it. Look, I get why it was made a sticky topic, given what a huge figure she was in game show history and how she suddenly passed away weeks before she would've turned 100, but I think it's time we not have it be a sticky topic anymore.

Thursday was a total brutal day in for the celebrity world. Liotta dying hurts a ton. There was speculation that Ray was not feeling well. Whether that's true or not I don't know, but I've seen several of his stuff, and that's a rather big loss. If he wasn't feeling well, he died doing what he does. Figured he had about good decade or so in terms of new material to produce.
Tough losses in the music world with Alan White & Fletch. The Yes drummer passed following a brief illness from what I've read. It's the second drummer loss in the past three years that was a big part of a classic rock band & had a decent role. There have been others but I tend to rank Alan White up there with Neil Peart who was a legendary drummer for Rush throughout their history that spanned about a half century.

M.A.S.H is a legendary show; while not everyone puts it as their Top show of all time, it's Top 5-10, to be part of that for the entire run like Burt Metcalfe was is or was worth it.
Not many people place Bill Russell as the GOAT. That may be more fair than not, but the guy is top notch in terms of the most accomplished. Started & ended things in college and the pros as a winner.
It's not common to turn on the radio or the TV for an announcer (other than Pat & John). Though I have turned it off due to someone calling a game. Vin Scully was one in a handful of people that was worth listening to. Really it was more about the game and not the person calling it.

Many years ago, I saw a great documentary about the original Concentration on Vimeo, "Thanks for Playing Concentration" and the interview segments with Norm were fascinating to watch. I own the 23rd edition of Concentration from Milton Bradley, and his rebuses still hold up to playability in 2022.
Without his great producing work and rebus puzzles, the Narz era of the show and Classic Concentration with Alex Trebek wouldn't have happened.

Sure, the show has a pretty certain generational demographic, but I'm part of it and all those after-school and Saturday morning viewings, even watching them in reruns, certainly brings out the goosebumps (and Rita Repulsa laughs) in me. I'm so sorry for this circumstance with the rest of the Power Rangers cast, crew, and fans.

You are correct. In this case, MMPR was initially adapted from Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger, and Burai was Tommy's counterpart in that series. It was touching to see Shiro Izumi (Burai's actor in Zyuranger) to give tribute.
In particular, it was very heartwrenching to see the other tributes...especially Amy Jo Johnson's (Kimberly/OG Pink) emotional stream... It wasn't easy to watch without tears...

These are a few weeks late, but Parkinson's disease has claimed the lives of two country music legends this past fall.
Jody Miller, who rose to fame in 1965 with "Queen Of the House," one of the earliest satires on being an overworked housewife, died Oct. 6 after battling the illness for several years. She continued her fame into the early 1970s, with her biggest hits ranging from covers of 1960s pop hits (including the Chiffons' "He's So Fine" and Barbara Lewis' "Baby I'm Yours," both 1971) and originals, including 1972's "There's a Party Goin' On."
Jody died Oct. 6 after a seven-year battle with Parkinson's.

Jeff Cook was the fiddler and bass guitarist for the band Alabama ... yeah, the one that had 33 No. 1 hits from 1980-1993 and a bunch of other top 10 hits in the 1990s, mixing both soft rock-type ballads and Southern rock songs of southern pride. Jeff also usually sang backup vocals, but like his cousin Teddy Gentry, he got a turn once in awhile on lead vocals on some album tracks. You heard his fiddling at work most prominently in songs like "Dixieland Delight" and "If You're Gonna Play In Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle In the Band)." You may have heard "Mountain Music," where toward the end of the song both Jeff and Teddy are featured soloists (trading lines with Randy Owen, the lead singer).
Jeff also suffered from Parkinson's, and he passed away on Nov. 7. He had been battling Parkinson's for at least a decade, and although he stopped making regular appearances with his cousins, he still made several appearances with the band in recent years.

The year 2022 has been very tough for country music, already with the deaths of Loretta Lynn, Naomi Judd, Mickey Gilley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Olivia Newton-John, a bunch of session musicians, songwriters and producers (Jerry Crutchfield, Hargus "Pig" Robbins and Dallas Frazier among them) and others. We are lucky to have listened to their gifts and musical talents over the years.

We've lost a lot of greats this year (in whatever the greats have done in their lifetime). I'll get to some of the recent ones eventually. Of course, and sadly, we lose a lot of big time people every year.
It may be fair to say that this one may be the most painful overall on a global scale. As mentioned elsewhere, Wahl was the soccer version of a Peter King or a David Aldridge or any great journalist in and out of the sports world.

Pele and the Pope complete another classic "in threes" coming within three days of each other. May they and everyone else who passed on this past year, especially Queen Elizabeth II, Sidney Poitier, Bob Saget, Vin Scully, Taylor Hawkins, "Meat Loaf", Irene Cara, Nichelle Nichols, Paul Sorvino, James Caan, Gilbert Gottfried, William Hurt, Aaron Carter, Kirstie Alley, Ronnie Spector, Kevin Conroy, Olivia Newton-John, and Louie Anderson have even better resolutions someplace else that would be a good lesson for us.

Now I feel a little less excited upon hearing the news that seemingly provides an exclamation point for inarguably the biggest purge of last-minute passings to close out a year. Ricky Nelson's 1985 New Year's Eve passing is probably the most infamous one of the rock era, but this means that only Ruth will live to see the 50th anniversary of The Pointer Sisters' eponymous debut album on Blue Note Records. My earliest memories of "I'm So Excited" (which she sang lead on) and Anita were not in the early 1980s since it was just before my time, but in 1991 when my elementary school's gymnasium's cassette mixtape for warm-up exercises included that hit while I would be jump roping, peg climbing walls, or doing push-ups. RIP Anita Pointer.
