Spree:  Once I saw the cheap price on the sofa, it became obvious what the outcome would be.

Geezmo Game (Magic # to those who don't understand the reference):  Easy playing today.  Glad to see it won.  :-)

Let 'Em Roll:  When she rolled those 2 cars and a lowball amount of cash....I had an inkling she wasn't gonna fare well unless she got lucky.  What do ya know?  Glad to see her win the car.

Double Prices:  What a hard decision this was.  I too was thinking $12K (it looked more expensive than that, but what do I know about pianos).

Showcases:  WHOO Glad to see another DSW.

Overall:  Good show today.

Bidding Round #4- #231, Lauren (http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/5906/231lauren68062lt.jpg)! :-D

Magic Number- Wow... how much easier could that get?

Showcase- BIDS OF THE CENTURY!!! That DSW was nothing short of incredible. Nailing a tough trips showcase such as that one is one heck of an accomplishment.

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY- Samuel.

SHOW SUMMARY AND GRADE- That DSW saved this show from being totally quiet... Grade: 2

Wow a great ending but I thought that both women in the showcases were over!! But that's a great bid just being nearly $70 away!!

Shopping Spree: Verwy, verwy twicky. That sofa was just killer. I guess those language courses must really work to be that much.

½ Off: I know a store that sold food choppers like that for $1. I don't know if I would pay $22 for a pitcher (or cup because it looks like one) like that. I say 6; Samuel says 9; we were both wrong.

That's Too Much!: That's Just Not Enough!
"A Malibu? I should stop as I see a price over $20K." I would've won this one.

magic #: the play was okay, but I weep because I didn't hear that stop chord.

Let 'em Roll: The products weren't that simple to me this time, but I did manage to get them right. I did not concentrate on the tops of the cubes on the second roll until they stopped. In my head, I was glued on the numbers. I had to avert my eyes to notice Lauren's winning cars in the end.

One Bid 6: Bob did make a good point about Jacob and Sandra's bidding ways. They were a little prompt and then the bids were taking too long and going nowhere. I didn't pay too much attention to this one because I had this very strong hunch that both of them were going to the House together.

Double Prices: I'm getting this strange vibe that the prices in this game are increasing. "There's no way a piana like that can be more than $12,000! It's gotta be $10,000."

I really thought Christy's bid was a great one. That was totally dashed when Donna made a more excellent bid than hers. I wanted her to bid around 20K (There I go with the 20K again like on That's Too Much!) Even though I couldn't see her, I had this feeling Christy wasn't too pleased about Donna's big win.

OKAY.  It's time to revisit the Double Showcase range argument.  You know - should the range for a DSW be increased to $500??

Hmmm...Maybe we should be talking about LOWERING it back to $100!!

Just Kidding!  :-D

Talk about a hard-luck loss.  Christy was dead-on, but Donna was just deader....on....

Shopping Spree and LER were fairly difficult for once.  You could've easily gone either way on the GP's, and Spree was a toss-up between the CD's and sofa.

Magic # was easy, but I said 3,000 and lost ><

Shopping Spree: Tough break. I was shocked the books were so expensive, and the sofa was so cheap.

Half-Off: Samuel should be praised for doing as well as he did, because the first and third pairs of items were hard. I thought the money was in Box #15, because it was green.

That's Too Much: No luck in giving away a very nice car in this game this time.

Magic Number: Pretty easy, but when Christy increased her bid a little bid, I knew she had won. Way to go!

Let Em' Roll: I can't believe the grocery section was so hard today, given that it was only played for a $14,000 car today. I'm glad Lauren won, because she would have been the victim of a screwjob had she not (that unseen die on the first roll was clearly a car).

Double Prices: Fairly easy. $10,000 looked just about right for the piano.

Showcases: I can't believe both were so nice today, given the way things were going. The second one surprised me. I would have bid the same as Christy did on the first one, and $21,000 on the second one. I was shocked a DSW happened on not the first one, but the second one! Unbelieveable!!! What a happy birthday it was for Donna's friend! Too bad somebody had to lose.

Overall: To me, the Showcase was pretty much the entire show today! The rest of it was boring, thanks to a very cheap budget, and a very boring Pricing Game lineup. The first half of the show would have been a good time to interrupt the show today, because a major Iraq villain got captured, for those of you who aren't aware by now.

That's what I thought, too, when I first saw those bids. I thought there was going to be a double overbid, but, as it turns out, I was wrong! DEAD wrong!

EDIT: So, this version submitted successfully. I think there's a glitch with the <quote> HTML tag!

I wonder why Roger made Let 'em Roll's grocery pricing so difficult today, anyway.  That's just unlike him for this particular game.  I'm impressed that Lauren got both products right; I really wouldn't have been surprised if a contestant even missed both today.  Good to see her win for it!

Shopping Spree was the same.  It seems like Shopping Spree is usually set up to be mindlessly simple, and it looked that way today too.  Except that the "obvious" prize to avoid--the books--was wrong.  That's possibly the most difficult that game's ever been set up.

That's Too Much got me, too.  I thought Malibus were under $20,000 nowadays, and today's Malibu had few options.  Did they get more expensive again?  I thought Donna had it.

Has the show ever offered a prize worth exactly $10,000?  I think I would've lost no matter what the other price was.

Christy played Magic Number as well as most contestats from previous seasons, which is an improvement.  I wonder why, for this season in particular, some contestants started going under $1000?  Low a guess Christy gave, I can't complain much when a contestant can at least get into four digits.

No it wasn't.  You can argue that Lauren should have got a re-roll, but saying it was "clearly" a car?  Nuh-uh.

Shopping Spree: I was thinking "everything but the language books."  I was dead wrong.

Half Off: The 3rd SP set-up was tough.  I never would have gussed that the 10K was behind #4.

TTM: I thought Donna had it all, thinking that $19K was the place to stop.

Magic #:  Wow, how easy can you get? :-?

Let Em Roll: Wow, that was a tough set-up, yet I was amazed Lauren nailed 2 more rolls.

Double Prices: I was thinking the piano was worth $10K all along.

Showcase: AMZING! :-o   I was thinking the dreaded double overbid would hit. I was thinking the SUV showcase was $26,000.  I was more amazed when Donna DSW the FRATS.  I would have said $20,000.

Overall: It was a fun show today.

Wow, I would have lost Shopping Spree today.  There's no way I would have suspected the language tapes to be less expensive than the sofa.

Speaking of Shopping Spree, I wonder why they only shot the orange card alone instead of with the Shopping Spree sign included like they normally do.

Donna was a pretty enjoyable contestant.  Still, I don't know why Bob didn't ask for more enthusiasm out of her for her "that's too much!" call.  She certanily seemed like she could have been louder.

I know the Dob set Double Prices up a while back with a $6,000 versus $8,000 choice, but today's setup makes  pretty much the most difficult playing of Double Prices I've ever seen, because neither of those prices looked very right.

Screw it if they didn't dim the lights, seeing Every Trip in the House was awesome!  But somebody do remind me to ask Roger next Q&A why the lights aren't dimmed anymore for the Everyroom/Every Trip Showcase.

And speaking of the Showcases, yay for the double Showcase win!

I'm not sure how anybody could claim with a straight face that today's show had a cheap budget.  You had to spend $5300 to win Shopping Spree, a cash game was played, That's Too Much was for a $20,000 Malibu Maxx, the Magic # prizes were worth more than four grand, and Double Prices (!) was played for a $10,000 piano.  Maybe the Cobalt for Let 'em Roll was cheap, but that's it.  Top it off with a Explorer showcase worth $36,000 and a four-trip showcase worth over $28,500, and this was the furthest thing from budget.  There were shows during the show's true budget mode this winter that had both showcases together worth less than the Explorer one today.

That said, it was nice to see Shopping Spree (never thought I'd write that) after what seemed like a long absence, and especially the day after Danger Price, its reverse twin.  Extremely tough setup today; no way did I think that sofa was less than those language tapes.  Berlitz must have thrown in about 20 languages there.

Let us not forget the last time we saw Magic # before today: April 25th, when it was played last and was lost to prevent a perfect show.  Today's playing was much better; you'd think this game should have a winning percentage near 90%.

What I said before about the DSW rule being changed to $500 or less was a totally off suggestion. With 8 DSW this season (4 in one month), the range should stay where it is! BTW, What is the record number of DSW for a season?

I'm not sure if Donna would be the 5th biggest winner, but she would have one heck of an ammount totaling $86,899 (If she won the car.)

Donna would probably be the fourth biggest winner, trailing behind Danielle's record of $88,865.

Actually, here are the records (From what I've seen)

Amy: $97,130
Bobette: $97,080
Keisha: $90,153 (with a DSW difference of $250)
Danielle: $88,865

Feel free to correct me.

To Frank- The Malibu didn't go back up in price, they just offered a Malibu Maxx today, which is a more expensive, station-wagon-like Malibu.

What a longshot win in the showcases. I thought they'd both gone over.

I was doing yardwork today and just came in from time to time to check on the show...even from that, it felt like a fun show today.

Not only was it a Malibu Maxx, it's trim level had to do with the price. The usual Malibu offered is the Malibu LS for about $17,000+. Chevrolet trim levels go up as LS, LT(used in today's car), LTZ and SS, from least expensive to most.

PG #1 - This game was not gonna be won today.  I never would've picked the language books over the sofa.

One-Bid #2 - LOL!  A "Red Hat" is called down and the next prize is a bar!  :-D  :-D  :-D

PG #2 - So much for trying to out-Dob the Dob.  I picked #15, and he went for the uppermost box today.

PG #4 - Magic 4th instead of 6th today!  :-P  With that almost $1,900 spread between the prizes, only the absolute worst garfer would've lost this game today.

PG #5 - WOW!  Roll in the second half!  :-P  $5.88 for the cat litter... that must've been the cat litter that was used in Bully on Tuesday.

PG #6 - Both of those prices looked good.  I would've picked $12K as well.

Showcases - An all-hat showcase today!  What?!  They wasted an every room showcase to do a friggin' random Around the World showcase?!  :-o  :-o  :-o  And Donna got a DSW out of that?!  After Bob said "$28,000", I paused the tape and said "There is no way in Hell that she got a DSW out of that."  But sho 'nuff, she did.  Four DSWs in a month and the second time that somebody DSWd on a friggin' random all-trip showcase.  Absolutely unreal.

My bids - Truck:  $34,000.  FRATWERS:  $29,100.

Overall - Today's PG slotting was interesting to say the least.  Much 3d, Magic 4th, and Roll 5th.  Given how the Dob loves to put the SP and GP games back-to-back lately, wouldn't it have been more logical for him to slot Roll 3d and Much 5th?  And wouldn't it also have been more logical to slot Dubba 4th and Magic 6th?  Maybe that's just me...

My thoughts regarding the lack of dimming the lights on the Every trip showcase? Another "genius" decision from Bart.

Wow. For some reason, I was convinced that today we would have had a double overbid. Especially on the trips - it's a miracle she won both showcases.

Please, Bart can'be be blamed for everything.  My guess, it's something that's not supposed to be happening and won't change until somebody mentions it.

Not really, all trip Showcases tend to be more expensive then people think.  Heck, when Christy's Showcase price was revealed first and her difference was as small as it was, I expected that Donna had scored a double Showcase win.

Shopping Spree: I didn't think the langauge books were going to be so much, either. Once the sofa was revealed to be $799, I went "uh-oh".

Halfy: For $22 that pitcher had better pour my drink for me. Box #4 immediately got my attention when it came up (as it tends to do, 4 is one of my favorite numbers).

That's Too Much!  Cheap: I didn't notice it was a Malibu Maxx, so I thought Donna was right.

Magic Pound Sign: I was worried that Christy had stopped bit too low. Luckilly she won. It was nice to see a contestant go stop in the 4 digits again, and not get lilly-livered like some recent playings.

Let 'Em Roll: I went and did the Zapruder Film routine for this. I last saw the cube in question with the green $1000 spot facing up, and it still had momentum as it disappeared off camera. It rolled over one more time to the $500 spot then it was stopped by the table's edge. At that point, looking at the shadows, it looks like Shane accidentally knocked the cube over to the car face while trying to gather it with the stick. That's the point in which the camera pulled back, giving the impression that Lauren had rolled 3 cars instead of just 2. So no, there wasn't a second player rolling cubes beind the grassy knoll  giant price tag, heh heh.

An off topic observation: I recently found an old tape that had most of the Christmas Eve 2001 show on it (minus the 1st segment). Since back then I wasn't paying attention to some set changes and stuff, I was suprised when Let 'Em Roll was played and here's this cute little table and ramp with no steps and no plastic guard on the table. :-o  And the game was won, too. :-D

Dubba-Dubba-Double Prices: I know my $3.99 Tums but not my pianoes. I thought $10,000 looked good.

Showcases: I was expecting a double overbid, too. I was shocked plenty when Christy was under by just $1471, then Donna had to go and stop the Dob cold with a $68 difference on hers. And an all-FRT showcase as well. Nice to see a string of DSW's, at this point I'm no longer jumping like nuts, but rather letting my jaw drop to the floor and going "AGAIN? NO WAY!".

Did it look to anyone else like there was a sub at one of the cameras today?  There were a few shots of Contestants' Row that seemed unusually awkward.

I would have to say that today's Shopping Spree was a genuine forced loss.  Who would think language books would be more expensive than a sofa?  I honestly can't see any way anybody was going to win that.

Samuel literally looked like a little kid when he won his IUFB. (http://www.golden-road.net/grnoldx/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

Donna was a hoot.  She was just fun to watch the whole time she was on.  I'm so glad she ended up winning both showcases, especially after losing That's Too Much!.

I would say Roger wanted Magic # won today.  Basically, anyone who had the guts to get out of triple digits was probably going to win.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thought Let 'em Roll's groceries were unusually hard today.  I mean, they certainly weren't impossible, as evidenced by the fact that Lauren got them both right...but I could certainly understand someone missing one or both of them.

Has the higher price in Double Prices ever been right when the game has had a 5-digit choice on a normal episode?

And with regard to the price reveal in Double Prices...have I ever mentioned that the show needs a new director?

Did anyone find it kind of ironic that the "safe" prize in the first showcase was a Ford Explorer? (http://www.golden-road.net/grnoldx/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif)

Holy...Every Trip in the House! (http://www.golden-road.net/grnoldx/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif)

Speaking of Everytrip...even without the dimmed lights, just having the right music made the showcase feel so much more right than the last couple of Everyrooms.

The Showcase bids today were incredible.  After #1's price was revealed, I was almost expecting a Double Showcase Win.

No there isn't.  Your problem is that you're writing it with greater/less than symbols; it has to be written with brackets.

How could it be clear to you what was on it if you didn't even see it?

I was wondering about that. Bart picked the wrong shot to go with there. For a second the only inkling I had that Vicki had lost was hearing the buzzer and losing horns, then a second later the shot comes up.

I'll echo my thoughts: I wished we had Paul Alter or Mark Breslow.  They never missed those shots.  I'd even take DiPirro over Bart anyday.

To the incident in Dice Game: having taken another look at it and slowing the tape down, it definitely appears Shane inadvertently bumped that one die with her little dice gathering doohickey (I think it's called a "crook"), and therefore she had to replace it. Simple as that. No reroll required.

That's what I thought the first time I saw it.

For what this joke is worth, our Crash Test Dummy may have had it bad, but at least she wasn't working for Mythbusters.  :P

Shopping Spree: Now, that was brutal.. I would've never believed that the language courses would be more than that sofa... I would've made the same choices, and had the same unfortunate result. :-?

1/2 Off: Lately, it just seems like this game has been pretty cold... Not that a 25% chance is what you want, but still..

That's Too Pink!: That's too soon! I sat there shouting "One more! One more!"

Magic #: I was thinking $1,500 myself, but $1,353 was good enough... Finally, a win!

Let 'Em Roll: Talk about stopping The Dob.. That was pretty nasty, but Lauren not only gets three rolls, but then gets herself the car...

Double Prices: Geez... Roger was evil today.. Both of those choices looked good.. I was leaning toward $10,000 myself, but that was almost a coin-flip...

Showcases: Wow, someone with a good bid on the Explorer showcase! Seems like everyone this year has been $8,000-$10,000 too low... I would've guessed $34,000, but that was one heck of a bid...

Donna's showcase sumped me.. I was thinking $23,500... I thought she was way over.. Heck of a bid!

Uhh, about the DSW window... Maybe we need to increase it to $1,000 next season? Eight just isn't enough. :-P

Don't have time for the whole blurb on this, but the main points, TTM in 3rd again(I assume this is the new slot for it, the Dob has done 3 times lately IIRC?), wow

Magic: Yay, good to see it! And very easy to win, ridiculously.

Let Em Roll...Wow! Going from 2 in the first roll to all 5 in the 2nd, not even needing the 3rd roll. When was the last time this happened?

DSW! And that was no easy DSW if you ask me, probably the hardest earned one. Who would guess 4 trips being over 20k? Not I. Very good job on her part, she MORE THAN EARNED IT! 66k and change for a win, almost a MDS total.

Time to send the Dob to the atm, they might not make the next few shows without doing so!
