Title: goldroadfanatic's TPIR episode #27
Post by: goldroadfanatic on November 11, 2012, 11:14:57 AM
Hello everyone!

Our last show was very good; five out of six games were won and lots of loot was given away, including three new cars.  The series' total winnings broke the $2 million barrier, and I'd like to add to that total in our final show of 2012.  If you'd like to come on down and win your way up on stage, where you may win lots of cash and prizes, now is your chance!  Here are the rules:

*Contestants will have 24 hours to place a bid, play their games, etc..  If you miss your turn once, you'll receive a warning; miss it again, and you're eliminated from the show.
*I will send a private message to call people down but afterwards, it is the contestant's responsibility to check the thread for updates to see when it's their turn.
*If you are going to be absent from the game when it's your turn for one reason or another, please send a private message to me and I'll figure out the best way to handle the situation.
*Audience participation is encouraged.
*If someone is eliminated from the show for whatever reason, I will notify that contestant's replacement via a PM and brief them with the situation.
*The show will begin on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 5:00 PM EST.

As always, good luck and have fun, everyone!

…forty-eight dollars ($748)

Which means wildbill is the winner!

DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING(applause)(Walking 2007)

wildbill and I are climbing the turntable steps to play our first pricing game of the show.  How are you doing, bill?  I have something really nice behind those doors, take a look!

(door #2 opens)(cue 19)

It's a fabulous barbecue island!

(applause)(Holly models it)

From Bull, the Rodeo-Q barbecue island Rodeo-Q comes with the Angus 4 burner grill, stainless steel refrigerator, stucco base, tile counter, GFCI electrical outlet, and a stainless steel access door with lock & key.  Expand your grilling capabilities with Bull!

wildbill0962 is going to play Flip Flop.  The price of the barbecue island is not $4,786.

But you can flip this to make the price $7,486…

…you can flop this to make the price $4,768…

…or you can flip flop and make the price $7,468.

But don't leave it as it currently stands; you must flip, flop, or flip flop.

Just noticed that the currently playing player got a kick from the boards, I'm assuming temporarily.  I know I don't have to point that out, but what is our policy in these predicaments?  Is the game forfeit?  Or does the next closest player play the game from the start (since nothing is revealed except the "gifts" in this case)?

Yes, just saw that a few folks got the boot.  Not sure why yet, but I'm sure the rumor mill will churn.

Here's what you do:  03F5man was the next closest bidder, and will play the game.  Send him a PM to alert him.

He may change any of the numbers if he wishes, and move on from there.

On my shows, when a contestant is unable to continue his pricing game, whoever is the second-closest to the actual price of the corresponding item up for bids without going over will replace the ousted contestant.

In this case, as sideshow pointed out, 03F5man will replace Gameshowboy92.  03F5man has the option of changing any of the three numbers Gameshowboy has made-the nine, the eight, and the seven.  Of course, he can leave any or all of them alone, if he chooses.

But while 03F5man is contemplating what numbers to change, I'd like to present the final gift.

Actually, before we begin, I made a mistake on the spinning order.  On my shows, whoever wins the item up for bids keeps it, so Gameshowboy92 won the third item up for bid, leaving 03F5man with a lower score ($0) than cornelius ($1,216).  So, 03F5man will spin first.

(beeps)

Here goes the first spin of the first showcase showdown, and it appears that 03F5man's first spin will net him…

(beep)

Sixty cents; a dodgy number, 03.  What will you do?

03F5man: I'll spin again.

Go right ahead, 03.

(beeps)

What will we add to that 60 cents?  It looks like it will be too much money…

(beep)

MRRRRRRRRP(applause)

Thank you for being on the show, 03F5man.  Next up is cornelius; give it a big spin!

(beeps)

cornelius wants to make up for his painful loss in Cliff Hangers, and he did not do it with one spin…

(beep)

Sixty cents, will you stay or spin?

cornelius: I'll spin.

(beeps)

Now, if cornelius goes over, wildbill, you're automatically in the showcase.  What will we add to cornelius's 60 cents?  How about that 30, come on down!

(beep)

MRRRRRRRP(applause)

Oh, cornelius has had nothing but misfortune on our show!  But hanks for being a part of our festivities, cornelius.  Now wildbill, you are automatically in the showcase!

(cheers and applause)

You have one spin to see if you can score a dollar or not; good luck!

(beeps)

wildbill is searching for that dollar and here it comes!  Here it comes!

(beep)

Oh, so close!

(http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/5014/scsdscoreboard.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/716/scsdscoreboard.png/)

123123123 is the first contestant on this forum to play Double Cross!  Somewhere on the green line are the four numbers in the price of the armoire, and somewhere on the yellow line are the four numbers in the price of the steam shower, 123123123.  I'll tell you right now that both prices intersect at the number five in the middle.

(http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/2123/doublecross1.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/233/doublecross1.png/)

What you must do is highlight the correct prices of both prizes to win.  But the trick is, when you move one of the highlighters, the other one moves with it.  For example, if you move the green highlighter down one step, the yellow one moves down one step as well.  So, if you can highlight one of the correct prices, you'll automatically have the other price correct, and win both prizes.  Step over there and double cross the prices!

Hi gang,
I just wanted to address the SCSD in this show, and let you all know that goldenroadfanatic and I have discussed what happened.  The confusion that occurred was a "perfect storm" of having a few members banned this week, which caused replacements to play, and some very close spins in the SCSD.

GRF and I discussed the fairness of the situation, and played around some possible options.  In the end, we both agreed that no solution would be perfect or fair, and that somebody will have a legitimate gripe no matter what we do.  So, here, we agree that the best solution is to do nothing...let things stand as they are.  We hope you understand our decision, join us again for future shows, and wish you all a nice holiday.

Thanks,

Not sure what part of my message gave you that impression.  But no...as grf stated, this is only an explanation of the SCSD

I would say this threw him off, as I thought the same thing at first:

We hope you understand our decision, join us again for future shows, and wish you all a nice holiday.

Besides, I thought we had one replacement in one pricing game, who takes over during the pricing game.  If the game had ended before the SCSD, then we might have needed a way to replace, but since the replacement took over mid-game and would have won but for the banned member's bid, I think what I understand has been fair.

Not that it matters, but does the rule that says "the first choices are not correct" apply to Double Cross? I know it applies to Push Over and That's Too Much!, so I'm thinking the same would be true for Double Cross as well. And I would've guessed $2,358 and $3,559 for the respective prizes, particularly because I've never seen an armoire go for more than $3,000.

As for what happened in the first SCSD, it reminds me of that infamous incident in Episode 5 of my series, when some incompetent writing caused a wipeout in It's in the Bag, and later on, I had no choice but to award the full $16,000, as well as have the entire writing staff fired. Banned members can cause problems in HYO shows, so it's best that all G-R.net members fully adhere to the rules of the forum, and do not do or say anything in a way that would get them booted, especially while participating in a HYO show.

And now, I'm done here. Carry on...

They weren't even talking about that, they were talking about SCSD1 - (cornelius thought he was spinning first - and was supposed to, however 03F5man gave his numbers and stop on ___ first, so GRF spun him first and cornelius second, which resulted in Wildbill by default winning.)

Anyways...

I was going to suggest a bid of $996, but RCPlanes59 has already bid that so instead I will suggest $796 :P

Oh, I saw the mixup.  I thought he fixed that before the spins registered.  I must have misread it.

Not to beat a dead horse here, but the reason I screwed up the order was I thought 03F5man would be awarded the IUFB Gameshowboy won, which exceeded the winnings of cornelius by about $200, which would put him as spinner #2, and I posted this in the spinning order.  However, it's my policy that the IUFB you win is yours to keep, even after you're booted from the show.  Thus, 03F5man had no winnings to cornelius' $1,216, and 03F5man was the first spinner.

If the audience feels the suspense, there's no way I'm going to let some "rule" get in the way of it!

That being said, I'm going to bank on the fact that goldie is much nicer in his HYO's than Frank. That previous setup was pure evil.

I'm going to pass on that decorating gel question for a moment and try THEN on the snack bars. If that is correct, I will say NOW on the decorating gel for the rare five-in-a-row win.

(beeps)

And away we go!  123123123 is trying to get a dollar in one or a combination of two spins so he can win $1,000 and a bonus spin!  The wheel is slowing down on…

(beep)

(http://imageshack.us/a/img641/8126/30c.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/641/30c.png/)

Thirty cents, and that is not enough for him; here's his second spin!

(beeps)

What will we add to that 30 cents?  That dollar better not come down, and that wheel better not stop on 90…

(beep)

(http://imageshack.us/a/img545/619/scsdwheel.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/545/scsdwheel.png/)

Right in the middle of those amounts, an additional nickel, for a score of 35 cents.  Don't fret; you're still in this, 123123123!

And he does with 85 cents, that's a great score!

DING(applause)

Now it's up to RCPlanes59 to beat Flerbert to get into the showcase!

(beeps)

Here goes his first spin, and 85 cents is what he needs to beat.  He did not do it with one spin…

(beep)

(http://imageshack.us/a/img849/134/scsdscore60.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/849/scsdscore60.png/)

You have 60 cents to build on, RCPlanes; spin again!

(beeps)

This will decide who goes onto the showcase round and who leaves the stage.  It looks like things might work out for you RCPlanes, here comes that 40!  Come on down!  Come on down!

Post by: goldroadfanatic on November 27, 2012, 10:28:52 PM
Thanks to all for making this a great show!  Here are the stats:

Games: 3 for 6.

Winnings By Contestant:

wildbill0962: $5,516
cornelius: $1,216
Gameshowboy92: $1,439
03F5man: $0
123123123: $629
RCPlanes59: $23,936
Flerbert419: $27,324

Total Show Winnings: $60,060

Notes:
*Cliff Hangers appeared for only the second time in this series.  It was last played on episode #6 in 2007.  I put off playing it because of graphics issues and how to make the game challenging.
*This is the first time anyone played Double Cross on the HYO forum.
*Any Number and Temptation make their third appearances today.  This is the first loss Temptation had in this series, while Any Number has its first win.  Also, both games received set upgrades to be analogous to the ones the show adopted in 2010.
*Now…or Then and Flip Flop both continue their winning streaks at two and three, respectively.
*Fifteen cents is the lowest winning score in any showcase showdown in this series.
*This is the last show for 2012.  I hope to do more in 2013 pending my schedule.

As always any questions and comments are welcome.
