Clock Game- That was absolutely dreadful. Just awful.

WOW!!!!!! What a show today-some good contestants, Bob was in great form. What more can I say?

Golden Road: (Alleluia chorus) It returns with a vengeance-a big, big win-Great job, Pamela.

Punchboard: Will this game go winless this year? $1100 isn't bad, at least it wasn't $50.

Clock Game: Uh, not sure what to say here,

Double Prices: Good, we won't see this tomorrow. I hope.

Dice Game: 2 for 2 on the car games today. Fantastic. I was afraid that first 2 he rolled would be a 1. Glad I was wrong.

Pick-a-Pair: Unlike Punchy-will this game be lost?? I think it would be cool if this game went undefeated for the year. BTW: when was the last time that happened on any game? Never?

Showcases: Quote of the day here: Bob: "Willard, be a man." Hillarious stuff here.

Great show today, highlighted by the Golden Road win, will Friday be a downer? We'll find out.

It's today that we can be glad that Triple Play was lost on Friday :).

Golden Road is great, and also Pamela's odd sense of humor the whole time.  She didn't seem overly concerned about winning--that's a good thing--but certainly happy enough that she did win!  She was just having fun playing with Bob, rockin' with Bob, and just happened to win a Corvette in the process!  Not bad!

Willard was a fun guy, who seemed to be a craps player or something, with the way he was rolling the dice!

Janet was fun too.  It's always nice when contestants really get into the punching portion of the game like that.  Just kinda' bouncy there, and as far as she was concerned, $1100 was a win!

The acting school showcase was quite cool, with Brandi's "reactions" after each prize, though I'm not sure the second one really looked like fear to me.  But still great, especially the pouty expression at the end!

We're just never going to ever get another loss in Pick a Pair.  That's all there is to it.  Today's playing was even pretty tough, and we still couldn't finally get a loss.

You know, I could understand Charlotte not being able to hear everything Bob says.  But when she seemed so shocked that Bob wanted her to bid after the overbid, it seemed like a worse problem than just simply not being able to hear, but more like she wasn't even trying to pay attention to a single thing going on.  You gotta' at least try to pay attention!

Can anyone else remember a time when all four prizes in Punch a Bunch were lower?  Not that it seemed like they were trying to trick anyone with it today, since all four prizes looked lower anyway.  And Janet guessed lower for all four prizes.

And for that second showcase... I guess Magnussen is the new Ashley :-P?

I'm pretty sure Poker Game has had a few perfect seasons.  Take Two had a perfect season before as well.

Thanks for clarifying that Frank. I guess the only difference, if any, though would be that Poker Game and Take Two aren't played that often, they could go 8 or 9-0 or something along those lines while Pick-a-Pair is played at the very least 20-25 times. 25-0? Wow.

Some pretty rough prices today, I thought.  $913 for a sofa and $7321 (vs $6041) for a sailer are toughies even if you watch often.
Title: Re: FULL RECAP - TPiR 05/11/2006
Post by: Mallory16 on May 11, 2006, 02:15:15 PM
$913 isn't hard for a sofa in Clock Game, though.  For Clock Game specifically, the last two numbers don't really make the game any easier or harder to win.  Well, maybe if it were like $800 exactly, it might be easier, but a $913 sofa in Clock Game isn't much harder than a $999 sofa in Clock Game.

I didn't notice that we had contestants from both Alaska and Hawaii today.

I think I actually heard some of the audience members groan at Onima during Clock Game. $913 is kind of a hard price to get to if you're playing with any kind of strategy but that didn't even come into play here.

It's cool that Janet stuck with 'lower' on all her punchboard picks. A lot of people would've said 'higher' eventually just because they'd expect one of them NOT to be lower.

Golden Road-YES!!!!  IT"S WON!!!!  You deserved it, Pamela.

Punchboard-$1100 is a fair haul to me.

Clock Game- (Anne Robinson) Pathetic, Miserable, Sad.

Showdown #1:ARGH!!  This is where I started to get upset.  Omina got booed twice, yet wins?!?!  Man that wheel is evil!

Dice Game: Willard was fun to watch and seeing him react to the car win was more fun.

Pick a Pair: Darn it!  Are we ever going to see this game lost?!?!

Showcases:  Now this is where I was very upset.  Omina wins?!?!?  ARGH!!!!! And worse, it was a hard pill for Willard to swalllow.  I felt bad for him.

Overall- A great show, EXCEPT for Omina.

Golden Road: Kinda surprised me, because when I saw where the 1st IUFB was, I thought we were playing 3 Strikes. But it's Golden Road! When I heard the value of the grand prize, I knew it was a Corvette. Anyway, why the heck was today's playing so easy- this is not supposed to be an easy game, you know. For the Corvette, the 9 wasn't the best choice, and I would have chosen 3. I guess those unwritten rules about this game helped Miss Crosby become the third biggest winner of the season! And that's the third win of this game this season, the first time in a while that we've had so many wins in this game in one season! What's more interesting is that in each of the three wins, the grand prize was a car (Viper on Season Premiere, Cadillac XLR on the beginning of Christmas Week 2005)! Wow!!!

Punch-a-Bunch: Well, finally somebody won all the punches. Too bad even on a day like this, we can't have this game finally won. But $1,100 isn't bad.

Clock Game: Omima was just too nervous of a person for this game. At least she won the bicycles.

SSD1: Apparently Golden Road winners getting into the Showcase happens only once in a blue moon.

Double Prices: Easy for me, not for them. Day sailers are expensive.

Dice Game: I'm kinda disappointed Willard didn't overthrow the dice today given the way he shook them. Nonetheless, his reaction upon winning was priceless!

Pick-a-Pair: It was very possible to have this lost today, with lots of high prices. Alas, it didn't happen. But with Golden Road won today, we'll live.

Showcases: Both showcases were cheaper than I thought they were going to be. I thought Willard had it won, given his reactions on the reveals. Too bad Omima had to win thanks to Willard not sticking to his first instinct of $15,000- otherwise he would have won by just $458! But he still did very well today!

Overall: Great show today, for obvious reasons!

Yay!  We got Golden today, and it was won!  Marc suggested in chat that it would be something if Punchy was won too.  I almost thought it was, by the way Bob built up the second chance.   :-)

Omima had absolutely NO IDEA how to play Clock Game.

I loved Willard's reaction to winning the car, by going over and sitting on it.  :-)

Excellent win in Golden Road. Pamela was on the ball here.
Can't complain on Punch Board. Winning $1,100 is better than $50.
In Clock Game, somehow she hasn't been pricing sofas in her lifetime. Tough loss in Double Prices. Great wins in both Dice Game and Pick-a-Pair.

The one bad thing about a Golden Road win is that it makes everything else kind of ancilliary.  Kind of a good thing, too, because a couple of airheads (not stupid, but ditzy) in Clock and Dice Games.  However, as much as I want to rail on Omima, her fatal flaw was that she didn't know how to play Clock Game.  She even said so herself.  I think she got the idea, but it was too little too late.

If you remember a recent Golden Road, they had a $62,000 Corvette, so since this was a $61,000 version, one might be more inclined to pick 9.

Incidentally, what is hominy?

Oh man what a show! I was looking at how many games were won and how much was won today and it's really weird to say only 3 games were won, yet Price gave away nearly $130,000 for the day.

Here are my comments:

Today's show was very energetic
Two hot chicks for the day were Charlotte and Janet. Charlotte was very cute but you could tell she had no clue what was going on during the final one-bid. She didn't know there was an overbid and didn't know why she had to re-bid.

1. Golden Road- 2 of the 3 prizes were set up for an easy win. The first prize was clearly over $700. The next prize was the only one that would have tripped up our contestant. Nothing really looked right for the crib. For the corvette it was clearly a 9. The 6 and the 2 from the crib wouldn't work in the corvette price since they are rarely repeated and whatever the other number was just didn't look right. Congratulations to our winner on winning that beauty!

2. Punch-A-Bunch- Pretty decent playing today. Did anyone notice all of the right prices were LOWER than the phony prices? I was surprised she only won $1100, although that is a nice amount of pocket change. I thought for sure the way Bob was building things up when our girl Janet found the 2nd chance, that she had won $10,100

Clock Game- Omima was clearly not a avid Clock Game watcher or player. In the first round of bidding on the bikes she took her time. Then in the second round for some reason she made really high bids like $2000 and $1900. If I was in Bob's shoes I would have stopped the game, have them set the clock back to 10 seconds and tell her to bid WWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY YYYYYYYYY lower.

Double Prices- Seeing today's playing be lost did not shock me. Both prices didn't stand out to me.

Dice Game- Willard beat the odds! I thought he'd end up falling for the trick where you roll the 5, guess lower, and it's a 6. Same goes for when you roll the 2, guess higher, and it's a 1. But he won though and I'm happy for him!

Pick-A-Pair- Those products had some high prices today. It was a good playing I think. (I thought for sure when Brandi was driving the car around to show the golf clubs that she was gonna hit the prize backdrop. That would've been a sight to see!)

Showcases- I'm happy that Omima was able to come back strong, and win over $28,000+ in prizes, after that pitiful playing of Clock Game. Although during the showcases Bob fooled me again with his build-up. I thought for sure Willard was a DSW.

Today's show gets an A++, Even in despite of Bob's lacking of contestant interaction.

To answer Joe Mello's question, hominy is corn kernals that have been soaked in lye to remove the hulls. Hominy is usually made with the Southern delicacy grits.

Today would have been the first time in over ten years I would have LOST Pick-a-Pair!

Goodness...was Frank in charge of setting up Pick-A-Pair today?  That was about as hard as you can make it.  Not only were the three pairs today $5.99, $6.99, and $8.99, Roger used both the Airborne (which has a $5.99 version and a $6.99 version) AND the Finazzle (which has a $5.99 version and an $8.99 version)!

...and it was still won.  Roger just found out that it is impossible to set up Pick-A-Pair for a loss.

(Incidentally, if this game is won every time, why did the Brits feel the need to simplify this game for their new Price??)

I agree with you Army, the setup for Pick-a-Pair today was NASTY to say the least. I'm still amazed it was won.

Yeah.  I rather liked how Pick a Pair was set up, Army.  Just wish it could've been finally lost for a change.

catdogwheel's stuff:  If I was in Bob's shoes I would have stopped the game, have them set the clock back to 10 seconds and tell her to bid WWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY YYYYYYYYY lower.

That's insane.  Why should she be awarded ten extra seconds for playing the game badly?  The only times anyone has been awarded extra time in the game was when the mistake was not the contestant's fault.

Aside from that, I don't believe Bob should have stopped the clock, period.  It seems he's been stopping the clock less than he did a few seasons ago, and I'm glad.  If the contestant isn't playing well, just let 'em go with it.

PG #1 - Good!  No Golden Road to mess with the FPG tomorrow!  Oooh, turntable action in Golden Road today!  :-D  AND IT'S WON!  :-D  :-D  :-D  Today's playing was very easy.  Only two possibilities for the missing digit in the Corvette cuz the 2 and 6 were already in the price... and the 9 simply looked better than the 3.

One-Bid #2 - Omima!  :-P

PG #2 - Wow, all of the prizes were LOWER.  Has that ever happened before?  Hey, $1,100 is pretty good!  Still a loss, but at least we're getting into the four-digit numbers now.

PG #3 - $913 was an evil price for Clock Game anyway...

PG #6 - "Hey, Roger finally gave us a tough Pappy setup!  We might finally see somebody lose!"  Wrong!  Even with a tough setup, Pappy still gets a win.

Showcases - That FRTS was a prime DSW opportunity for the CSS players.  We should have the prices of all three of those prizes memorized by now.  That random furniture paired with Morocco (?!) could've gone either way, though.  Woohoo!  Omima won!

My bids - FRTS:  $26,800.  Random room/trip:  $14,000.

Golden Road was easy to win with the usual strategy, and was great fun...but I still say it deserves big clangs and whoops. I just love to hear those ^_^

Clock Game - she spent way too much time thinking and saying the whole number, but at least it wasn't as bad as the playing of Bonkers last time.

Pick-A-Pair: Agreed, very hard stuff this time. I thought she should've kept the 8.99 on her second try, but once again, I'm wrong.

And, I still can't figure out how much the trailer is (I thought 40K...I think I was a little tiny humongous bit off). Trailers and boats really throw me off.

Today's show was about average.

Great Golden Road win!

Simply put, the Clock Game playing was a disaster.

Pick-a-Pair was difficult, but it was still won! It just shows that the game isn't fun anymore when it's won pretty much every time. I really can't wait for it to be lost again.

Could somebody please tell me why $913 is such an evil price for Clock Game?  I see so many people claiming such, and I have no idea why in the world it would be such a difficult price!  Why would $913 be any harder than $931, $968, or $999?

Especially considering that there seems to be a lot of $913 prizes in Clock Game...more so than probably anything except $999 or maybe $799.  Didn't Sally Sly win a $913 prize of some sort?

In reply to above, I'm pretty sure Brandi didn't mouth the 'b' word.  From what I could tell, she was mouthing, "You are so mean."

Pricing Game Length:
The time of the game begins at the moment a prize is revealed for the game, or the game itself is intentionally shown (Golden Road).

Golden Road -- 5:18
Punch a Bunch -- 3:51
Clock Game -- 2:10
Double Prices -- :49
Dice Game -- 2:31
Pick-a-Pair -- 2:06

Today's playing of Golden Road was the sixth longest pricing game of this season.

Um...wow.  Golden Road was incredible.  I can't believe it's been won three times this year.  Doesn't hurt that it was for a Corvette, either, and Pamela was a great contestant.

As nice as Omima was, she clearly didn't understand how to play Clock Game.  I'm glad she at least won the bikes.

The whole sixth segment of the show was weird.  First Charlotte wasn't paying attention...then Willard wasn't paying attention...and ya know, I have a feeling Willard doesn't even know how he won Dice Game.  He just seemed out of it at the end.

My God -- Pick-a-Pair was actually hard.  I even thought it was going to be lost.

Brandi was hilarious during the first showcase. :)

Dude...the sofa was in freakin' Clock Game.  If she'd understood the game, she would have won it.

And if you'd been paying attention to where the Turntable was, you would have known that.

Holy freakin' God NO.

Absolutely.  I'd much rather see a frustrating Clock Game than a forced-win Clock Game.

OK, so did anyone notice Brandi's reaction at the end of the first Showcase?  As Rich was saying that the part she had landed was just a trick, I could swear that Brandi mouthed the "B" word to Shane.  Someone check the tape and back me up on this one.  If it's true, it's hilarious!

I *TOTALLY* thought the same thing. It looked like she said "You're a bit**"

Incidentally, when the Cadillac XLR was won on the Christmas Week show, was it on a spinning turntable like today?

Great show today!

Golden Road: The backpacks were clearly $793 but I was lost on the crib. The 9 was the friendliest looking number in the price of the Corvette. And it's a nine!!!  :-D  8-) Sweeeeeet win.

Punchy: $1100 is a pretty nice payday.

IUFB#4 Charlotte. Cute.  :-)

Yay! Clock Game: Uh oh, Omima is clearly nervous. Nerves + no knowledge of how to play the game = Uuuuuuuuugly. Well at least she won the bikes, so she can ride her Shizzle to the hizzle, thanks to Clock Gizzle. (Bad, I know.)

IUFB#5: An out of order $1 bid followed by a terrible lowballing bid. Given Charlotte's $400 bid that came before those two, a $1 bid would've served no purpose anyway no matter who placed it (and not much on any other IUFB, either, except perhaps in Super Budget Mode).

Double Prices: I went with $6041.

IUFB#5: "What....I thought I already bid!"  LOL that was too funny.
"Ten hundred!"  Memo to Charlotte...You're working too hard, sweetie. Work smart, not hard. Say 'a thousand'.

A brunette having back to back "blonde moments", that was the comedic highlight of the day. I was almost hoping she'd get up on stage...

Dice Game: For a split second I thought this was the $17,210 F**kus so I got scared when Willard went higher on the first 2 he rolled. Then I remembered it's Dicey, no 0, 7, 8, or 9's in the price.

Pick-A-Pair: On my first viewing I'd spaced out for this whole game so I just wacthed without thinking. Looking at it later on, it definitley was a tough setup with all high priced stuff.

Showcase #1: LOL I definitley thought Brandi had mouthed the B word at Shane, too. But when I looked at it again, she definitley said "you're so mean".

Too bad Apple didn't sponsor that iPod. It doesn't sound right having to refer to it as just a "portable music player".

I would've gone $21,000 on that showcase.

Showcase #2: The trip to Morocco threw me, I would've bid $19,000 on it. Willard sure looked like he was going to the gallows even before Bob read the price. I thought he'd lowballed so I was shocked when he went over by a couple hundred.

Overall, though, this was a fun show.

I know, I've been too silent lately on the recap threads. Chalk that up to falling behind in episodes, falling behind in Barkerisms, computer tweaking, and accomplishing Mission: Impossible 6-3-2006 (where I will be returning to LA next month to be a screaming idiot - except this time it's not for the World's Greatest MC, but for the Queen Of Pop).

Now, if screaming like a lunatic for 75 minutes in the Bob Barker Studio ruins my voice for a week, I'm a little worried about two-plus hours of screaming... Maybe, just maybe, I'll have my voice back by the end of August.

Anyway...

Golden Road: Twice I thought Pamela was wrong, wrong, WRONG - the crib and Corvette both. Hey, shows what I know sometimes.. Can't beat that to kick off a show!

Punchboard: $1,100 sure isn't anything to sneeze at, though the drought lives in.. Fortunately, we at least got to see someone win four punches - which we don't see enough of anymore...

Clock Game: It's a good thing I'm in a good mood this week, because that was an absolutely horrible playing - complete with the slow guesses and not even getting under $1,000 on the sofa. Oy vey.

Showdown #1: Omima gives us not only one, but TWO wimpy spins, and... *goes to a happy place, thinks about all the fun she'll have in 22 days* Uhhh, let's move on.

One-Bid: Not only a couple poor bids the second time around, but Charlotte paying no attention? As my dear friend Sydney used to say, "That deserves a sheesh!"

Double Prices: I would've been as screwed as Frances, and also would've gone $7,321... Tough choice. Ouch.

Dice Game: I was beginning to wonder if Willard would get up on stage, especially after that $1 bid in the previous One-Bid... Nice rolling, though I was doing a bit of rolling myself (the eyes) after he had to think about going higher or lower on a one (thank you, Bob, for giving everyone the business about paying attention to you after that)...

Still, I had thought we were looking at the $16,432 ZX3, and sure enough, we were...

Pick A Pair: And unless I've lost track, the streak goes on - despite the fact The Dob is trying harder and harder to make things tougher...

Showcases: Omima definitely needed to do the opposite of what she did in Clock Game and go higher, though not as high as I did ($27,000)... I am kind of surprised Willard passed up that showcase myself...

I, too, was thinking $16,000 on Willard's showcase.. Sadly, that was not the case, and Willard is not going all the way to Marakesh...

Sadly, by going over, that means... Oh, I'll just go back to my happy place now.

(Edit) The $913 "evil" debate? No, $913 is not an evil price in Clock Game... Shooting yourself in the foot by A. Going too slow and B. Starting over $1,000 will cause more Clock Game losses than a $913 by far.

Travis Schario,

I replayed it and it didn't look like she said the "B" word. However it did look like the word she said did start with a "B," but not the word you're thinking.

Golden Road: Due to a minor counter snafu, I began watching to the point where Bob shows the price of the Corvette (even though I have everything before that). I think I might be a pro at this, because I thought this was easy to win.

Punch-A-Bunch: "I couldn't be all lower today." It was, and we still anticipate a $10K win.

Clock Game: I think we all knew Omima was not going to get the bonus.

Double Prices: Nothing much, considering the better games take a litle time.

Dice Game: I just love those rolls. I had those fears of losing to a 1 from the last playing.

It seems that those that bid 1 too early always end up going to the House this week. Oh, well.

Pick-A-Pair: Not easy. I couldn't exactly figure out between the Pamprin or the squeegee.

Alright, I just watched the tape again, and there does look like a "B", but it does end in "mean."  My apologies to Brandi, should she see this post.

Another good show today.  Keep it up!

Golden Road: I KNEW this was coming.  :-D And it was won!!!  :-D :-D

Punch Board: Now, I know it's tough to follow up after Golden Road, but playing a game with prizes $50, $100, and $250 prizes doesn't help.  But hey, $1100 is pretty good (for this game).

Along with the question about if all 4 prizes have ever been lower before, I wonder if anyone's ever punched only $50 holes before?

Clock Game: It was dull because we all knew she would lose.  At least she got the bikes.

SCSD1: We've sure been getting a lot of boos lately.

One-bid #4: Bob's hair has been a little whiter since.

Double Prices: Neither choice seemed obvious.

Dice Game: I'm sure glad we didn't have what happened last time!  :-)

Pick-A-Pair: This one was EVIL.  Roger finally figured out it was time for a loss.  But we still didn't get one! :-x I'm now officially a member of the PPLW (Pick-A-Pair Loss Wanted).

Those great showcase themes just keep on coming.  :-D

Golden -- Yay, a win and she deserved it since she clearly knew how to play the game!

Punch: A modest win, 1100 isn't bad, but not the big guns.

Clock Game : Oy, clearly not an avid TPIR watcher(Even though Omima was kinda cute :-) ). Too slow, gotta speed up!

DP: Was a toss up if you ask me.

Dice: Gotta love Willard looking to the audience for advice on that first number. Is it higher or lower than 1? Gimme a freakin' break! Hey, he did win though, so I won't roast Willard too bad.

PAPPY: Wow, I have to 2nd the rest of the group, what a hard, hard setup, but still won. There is no way to lose PAPPY? How many wins on it this season? And when was the last lost if anybody can remember?

Willard was a little bit over, but he had the right idea for the showcase bid. Hey, decent show with GR in it, automatically a 6 or better without a doubt.
